Many affirm their desire for peace, which is a symbolic gesture and nothing more, this affirmation doesn't even generate a prayer, which at least would be something. Either 'we the people' stand up against our politicians and demand peace or simply pray for it, it's futile to just reach some sort of empty consensus that 'we deplore war and desire peace'.
