  • I would be in that shop everyday :D And every time I went in, I would say, "Good morning."

  • 0:24 house <3

  • I'm going to click on the dislike button...Mr. Dalliard! I'm slightly mad again!

  • Would you like a glass of water?

    No

    A cup of water?

    No.

    A plate of water?

No, I just want a model, aeroplane.

    A model areoplane of water!

  • "A model aeroplane of water?!"

  • If the two of them never work together again I will eat my hat!

  • LMFAO who the fuck is Mr. Dalliard? (that was rhetorical (i think))

  • Supersonic Hedgehog Brothers.

    xD

  • 'A glass of water? A cup of water? A plate of water then?'

  • It's looks like Little Britain uses a variation of this sketch.

  • I love the way Hugh shamelessly breaks the fourth wall by looking at the camera with a "Can you believe this guy?" look.

  • @Blackadder125 Not unusual. The «straight man» looking at the camera (or the audience) has been around on television at least since the 50s.

  • That was their best sketch ever, or at least Fry's. His crowing achievement. The lines "Mr Dalliard! Mr Dalliard!" and "Detonate our relatives" will remain with me forever.

  • Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry , i absolutely love them <3

  • "Mr Dalliard I'v'e gone peculiar now" - can't breath for laughing. lol

  • i love how stephen has the most remarkable lines that he just throws away like "i read on television"

  • I think Mr Dalliard is imaginary. Either that or he is real but he's actually dead.

  • A model?

  • If I were in retail and I wanted to quit my job, I would totally respond this way to "Good Morning".

  • I never did get the screen-time I deserved...

  • @MrDalliard54 And I was so looking forward to you being there, too. You had the best lines, shame they cut you out :(

  • 6 people suck

  • I love this so much this english humor this clusterfuck of insane and briliant dialogue

  • 3.59 --> HEY HOU! :D

  • Mr. Dalliard, I've gone peculiar now!

  • When Stephen gets overexcited I just want to cuddle him silly.

  • Too much glue I guess =)

  • @qhipp i agreee!! That line just kills me!!

  • This is one of faveee sketches, makes me laugh everytime!!!

  • I think had Stephen Fry chosen to be shopkeeper instead of comedian the world would sorely lack a wonderful comedian but instead be doomed with an insufferable shopkeeper. So, thank God he did not!

  • detonate our relatives. class.

  • Wonderful. Unfortunately, I am not a native English speaker and I cannot understand 100% of it, but it is wonderful anyway. "I am so sorry we couldn't ehlp you, Sir. We do try to accomodate our customer, but not being an hotel we find it a little impossible" :D

  • I love Hugh Laurie :D

    He´s the best ^^

  • mr. dalliaaaard, ive gone peculiar now!

  • A model?

  • Oh wow, my lungs are aching from how much I laughed at this. They are amazing!!

P.S. Hugh is smokin' at 0:22!

  • Oh! You are genuinely stupid, I do apologise!

  • @Emzo99 I thought you were just being deaf. LOL.

  • @ADyingFaith Aha I just love that :)

  • @matchbox555 Why do I get the feeling that you might be one who struggles with what the French call "happiness"?

  • @matchbox555 You love it.

  • @matchbox555

then there is something wrong with you

  • we do try to accomodate our customers but not being a hotel we find it quite difficult

  • @matchbox555 TWO negative comments? ... for THIS video? ... it takes all kinds I guess.

  • As a model builder I find this very humorous.

  • XD "a helpless seal called Arnold!" oh, i lost it.. LOL!

ya know what i think? theres a mirror in the back and Mr. Dalliard is this nutters reflection. :D

  • somehow I find "mr dalliard i've gone peculiar now" to be the most british moment in any comedy (and i've seen a lot of comedy)

  • Mister DALLiard, command the Earth to swallow me up!

  • I wonder. Do we scale modelers find this even funnier than normal folks? The whole joy of modeling part was awesome. (Also, do you think it's a real shop or did they just get Airfix to sponsor the 'stock'?)

  • "Just don't come bleating to me if your son turns out to be one of those drug jockeys were always reading about on television?"

I love that he got all the major forms of media in there: radio (D.J.s), newspaper/magazine, and television. These gentlemen are just outstanding comedians. I love rewatching their sketches to pick up little things I missed the first go around.

  • Ready sliced . . . golf shots.

  • Oh god... that look Hugh gives at the end...

  • It's such a pity they made only a finite number of sketches...

  • My god this is brilliant. Bloody weird. But brilliant.

  • Am I going crazy, or did Stephen reference Sonic the Hedgehog at one point?

  • when's day!?

  • Mr. Dalliard, I've gone peculiar now.

  • Stephen Fry is the best! That's just awesome!

  • Did he say 'detenate' our relatives?

  • EDIT: I mean 'detonate' of course. :)

  • @NGS712 Yep, he did indeed.

  • I'm sure that was how they've found out those 11 Russian spies in US... by accidentally saying "Good morning" to one of the ring... :P

  • @godfric "Police are currently pursuing the whereabouts of one Mr. D., a suspected accomplice..."

  • Tears of mirth are streaming down my face =]

Time to re-watch my Fry and Laurie dvds I think...

  • I've never heard anyone say "let me ask a different question in the same way" it's always "let me ask the same question in a different way". Stephen is so clever.

  • "Oh! You are genuinely stupid! I do apologise..." The best way to deal with stupidity ^^.

  • "I'm so sorry we couldn't help you, sir. We do try to accommodate our customers but not being a hotel we find it almost impossible."

  • I love Stephen's delivery of "Mr Dalliard...I've gone peculiar now!" He seems genuinely alarmed at his own weirdness. Maybe I just identify with that...for some reason.

  • We do try to accomodate our customers, but not being an hotel we find it almost impossible. best line ever

  • I think Mr Dalliard may have died some time ago.

  • "Mr Dalliard, Ive gone peculiar now.." xD

  • OMG, he made a Sonic the hedgehog reference! :P

  • One of these drug jockeys we're always reading about on television.

  • Happy Birthday to Trace this When'stheday! xxx

  • XD I like the fact that "plain-flavoured English" comes with such amusing gesticulations. Absolutely hilarious stuff.

  • Last line says it all: "Strange man..." Hahahaha!

  • This is one of the funniest bits of fry and laurie I have ever seen!

  • My roommate and I have a theory...THERE IS NO MR DALLIARD this guy's just nuts

  • the gestures about his son's b-day are hilarious, also, "and he will blow your head off w/ as much mercy if you were a helpless sealpup called arnold!"

  • "Mr.Dalliard! Command the earth to swallow me up."

  • Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. I love it! XD

  • Hugh <3 !!

  • the best bit is the terror in his voice when he says 'a model aeroplane of water!?'

and how he keeps calling to mr dallaird

  • I looove this sketch. "glue? He already is a drug junkie!" "A model airplane of water?!"

  • "A MODEL AEROPLANE of water!?"

    :D

I think there's a little glitch where Hugh says "Fly to Dover?"... they both kept giggling at that bit, so I suppose that's the bit they've edited out!

  • I think there's an irony in the code. I mean... 27 years and not one of all the customers ever said "good morning"?

  • "A model airplane of water!"

  • haha the hand gestures for "when is your sons birthday? "

  • LOL one of those drug jockies we're always reading about on television. xD

  • a helpless seal pup called arnold---he is amazing

  • Comment removed

  • I was only allowed one. on my birthday usualy. lol

  • Stephens character here, is the brother of John Cleeses: HOW TO IRRITATE PEOPLE XD

  • There are two nice sketches with Stephen Fry as a crazy salesman I remember - "Buying an Engagement Ring" and "Haircut" (the first one is funnier).

And of course there is a "Shoe Shop" with Mr. Dalliard.

  • Fry and laurie ...the BEST!!!

  • We do try to accomodate our customers, but not being a hotel, we find it almost impossible.

  • SOME GLUE? then i supose your son is already a drug jocky... ha ha ha

  • "Mr Dalliard, I've gone peculiar again!"

  • "one of these drug jockies we're always reading about on television"

    reading about on television...

i've seen this sketch maybe 10 times now and that one flew over my head every other time ^^

    love fry n laurie!

  • "Mr Dalliard I've gone all peculiar"

    Love it!

  • Oh lord, supersonic hedgehog brothers. Two of my favourite things combined into one strange, witty phrase!

  • My god. It's impossible not to love Stephen Fry.

  • @Yamibee totally true, he's so funny and charming!

  • A MODEL AEROPLANE OF WATER?!

  • I want to meet Mr Dalliard.

  • ready-sliced golf shots :-)

    i'd eat those...

  • "Yeah, you see, people just don't realise how much training goes into being an estate agent - it's virtually none."

Always estate agents as a comedy target... I wonder what has happened to Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry involving estate agents...

  • "Are you expecting this boy to be a boy or a girl?" xD

I love this sketch so much. Stephen always plays the insane shopkeeper so well. He's just so suave and fluently articulate that you almost don't notice he's talking complete nonsense.

  • IT'S SO TRUE. He could say the most utter hogwash, and I'd accept it without question. I wish I had that ability.

  • This sketch makes no sense whatsoever...and I love it!

    0:35 Stephen is so cute!

  • 3:19

"one of those drug jockey's we're always reading about on television"

Took me a while to catch that myself.

  • Possibly their best sketch, let's say one of their best :D

  • "Mr. Dalliard, command the Earth to swallow me up!"

    4:45, Fry's expression is PRICELESS!

  • Super Sonic Hedgehog Brothers.

    I must draw that.

  • :* :) *hug*

  • Mr Dalliard I've gone peculiar now!

I love the "Oh you really are stupid, I'm so sorry" because I've seen people make idiots of themselves by saying things like "Are you deaf or just stupid" to deaf people :-)

  • Good god! The randomness...I ADORE IT.

  • Theres supposed to be a Mr Dalliard sketch in ashop selling pianos, i think. Has anyone got a clip of this or no a link.

I though there was just this and the shoe shop one.

  • ahaha stephens face at 4:45 and 4:47 made me lol so hard :P

i love fry and laurie. :)

  • Absolutely P*** myself laughing - "Mr Dalliard and I were to detonate our relatives and fly to Dover" - sounds good to me. lol

  • I can`t understand what`s Stephen`s final line :(

  • he's last line was "Strange Man"

  • haha "A glass of water? A cup of water? A plate of water then?"

  • I never get bored of this...XD

  • "A glass of water?"

    "No, thank you."

    "A cup of water?"

    "No.

    "A plate of water then?

"No. I just want a model aeroplane."

    "A model aeroplane of water???"

    Hilarious.

The finishing line is the best:

"We do try to accommodate our customers, but not being a hotel we find it almost impossible."

  • Fabulous actors ! There're really so hilarious !

  • hahaha genius..wens the day and "youre spoiling him..i was only usually allowed one..on my birthday usually"..haha

  • This is absolutely fantastic. Amazingly acted, from start to finish.

  • ''are you expecting this boy to be a boy or a girl''

  • 'when's your son's birthday' 'wednesday' 'Yes! wednes da day?' rofl!!

  • LOVE IT!

ps I have the exact same model of the titanic you see in the background lol

  • I love the bloopers of this sketch. :D

  • good morning

    OH!!!! AT LAST

    xD

  • Brilliant, I love the Mr Dalliard sketches (the one with the shoes/prostitutes was fantastic too). Stephen does crazy oh so well, and Hugh is always good as the baffled everyman.

'Comerade Stalin in rude health I trust?' gets me every time! Genius!

  • pure class

  • I remember watching this in 1993... 5 years before i was born. and it was one of the funniest - no, wait... Ooh, im all confused now!

  • ah the stuff of legend...

  • brilliant :P

  • Funny! supersonic hedgehogs lol! :P

  • Mr. Dalliard, I've gone peculiar now...

  • Mr Dalliard i've gone peculiar again roflmao

  • "oh!! you are genuinely stupid!"

  • ahhh hugh...

all i could say is that this is not a very GOOD MORNING. LOL!!

  • 'called arnold.'

How much mercy would he show if it was called Hugh Laurie?

  • Drug jockies we're always reading about on television. lol

  • did anyone else notice how his hand is on his head when he says to ignore anything he says when his hand is on his head?

  • That was brilliant! I actually laughed out loud suddenly (making everyone in the vicinity jump) when Stephen shrieked so worriedly "A model areoplane of water?!" X'D

  • Hugh could play Clint Eastwood

  • I was only ever allowed one... on my birthday, usually.

    4:45 Kills me

  • 'what's this?'

'a messerschmidt 109-e and a fix for that degenerate junkie son of yours'

just gets funnier every time i see this.

  • I love it how in the end Fry says "Strange man"

  • "Mr Dalliard, I've gone peculiar now." *Dies laughing*

  • "Super Sonic the Hedgehog Brothers!" :D

  • doctors are so specific these days...lol

  • that was even crazier than the shoe shop sketch

  • No, I think that the shoe shop sketch was rather more peculiar. Think about it. A man who sells model aeroplanes that are like that, or a man who sells a shoe like that?

  • lol yeah i guess so.

  • I love the whole sketch.

    'I'm sorry, you're genuinely stupid'

  • 4:45. The expression on Stephen's face is priceless.

  • I love Stephen's face when he says "Strange Man"

  • "With or without plastic struts?"

The intensity on his face is hilarious.

  • Aw man. Pure GOLD.

  • soooooooooupy twist!

  • "10? I believe you're spoiling him. I was only allowed one on the day of my birth."

    "Wednesday!"

    "Oh you're genuinely stupid!"

  • oh man, the way Stephen says "a model aeroplane of water?" is so funny. He's got such panic.

  • lol. i luv these guys!!

  • "A model aeroplane of water!?"

    Genius.

  • then why are you searching them on youtube?

They could make a sketch with comments like these.. hilariously illogical as they are :)

  • how interesting

  • I LOVE Stephen's face when he says "strange man.."
