  • if you give me many money, I will buy this bike for myself. thanks.

  • Is elevator music whit crappy keyboard really needed? o_O

  • Crazy contest: goo.gl\k55ge with iPhone 5 as an main prize.

  • what is the name of this song?

  • Weeds.

  • "I want my Copenhagen wheels. Now get in the fucking van!"

-Holds her at Nail gun Point-

    Weeds Season 7 ep 10

  • this is a real thing whaaat

  • fun bike andy got ur advertising game poppin

  • this shit better not be some viral marketing from weeds

  • You need a fucking smart phone - this chick and the voice over and the script = she is a dumb cunt.

"Oh I am sharing it all via my smart phone through my social networking sites"

    Fuck Off.....

The reason I like riding my bike is so that I don't have to be around stupid cunts like you.

  • @callmeshane303

I wonder about people like you. What makes you the prick that you are? Were you abused as a child? Bullied as a kid?

Or in the great genetic lottery you just happened to inherit the asshole gene

  • @jkussmaul You have to much time on your time cunt scum

  • @jkussmaul

Yes - put this video up in big lights at the cinema, pay 1,000 people ten dollars each to come and see it...

You could not even LOSE a million dollars in getting people to see it......

"OH but all my friends on Facebook can see when and where I rode, how much I inhaled, exhaled and farted - Oh fuck - this is so cool - my otherwise worthless life now has meaning".

Yeah I have the arsehole aversion gene - my bike only has pedals and no naziware iphone.

  • @jkussmaul

And the chick - that dead from the neck up attitude.....

The "I am a university student doing statistics and sociology" mindset.....

Oh Noooo... I have had women like her and they are NO fun to date or fuck...... Just horrible.

    The whole video is fucked.

This colorless, unimaginative, "stiff" chick, in all black with a broom stick up her arse, riding around using naziware iphones on a bicycle - and it's a shit - a really shit, promotional video - in every sense of the word.

  • Thumbs up if you're here because of weed

  • weeds.

  • Thumbs up if you're here because of weeds

  • what the fuck this is real?

  • watch my video

  • This is real? I thought it was a just bad joke on weeds!

  • Copenhagen, my city <3

  • your voice is cute

  • If you get rid of those stupid sensors, this device can be a whole lot lighter and whole lot cheaper.

  • saw this on daily planet XD

  • Is this real or just a concept?

  • NIce, but won't that make it an easier target to steal. Agree with derman077

  • Hackers cut the iphone cable and add power drill batteries.

  • The idea of storing kinetic energy is really cool, especially for countries which actually have a lot of hills. The problem is with all the technology crap around it - the iPhone??? lack of easily reachable hand gears??? what if you have to brake all of a sudden to avoid an accident??

  • great fundamental idea of the whee is briliant but the hassle and neccessesity of having to have the phone and its shitty litte apps is just stupid

  • Hopefully it also records how often the cyclist hops on and off the pavement, how fast they ride on the pavement, how often they do this to avoid stopping at traffic lights and how often they ride on the pavement without lights at night!! Liking this already...

  • I use bike every day , but this is a high tech crap. takes away the fun .

  • @freebornbosch How in the world would this take away the fun. Your statement is completely nonsensical.

  • @senseablecitylab Does it require the iPhone to run? Does it work with the iPod Touch?

And by giving a "boost" does it mean it stores up some energy and makes the wheel spin for you?

  • The big idea is good, but why applying it to a road-type cycle? I think more people will use it if they can choose between the versions. I noticed one more thing - is it possible to use the old fashioned gear mechanism combined with this kinetic storage devise? Oh, by the way, there is something similar to this that is being used in the F1 series for some time :) Anyway, the idea of adding something to a bicycle is a pretty good one! Keep it up!

  • Perfect world n_n

  • Why complicate such a wonderfully fundamental activity as cycling? Maybe the responsive energy is fine for those that are physically challenged but everything else is fluff or available via other means. Another matter is who & how many people will really become as fanatical about the entire CopWheel package at the level the advert suggests? The energy & global positioning tech are decent as a package if you need it & disregard externalities of production yet the promotion is rather pompous.

  • about time ideas are crossing over to the mainstream .............. but does it need the smart part ...built in tracking and control by wireless ...... it would be nice if things were produced without extra electronics that will fail or could go down ...please keep things simple and right... just think how many phone or up dates you have already had in your life and did you need them ...also how will wave lenght effect the human body, if phone can course harm what will they do when you exercise

  • to bad the iphone will run out of battery ha ha

  • got this with enough torque for my fat ass?

  • @pumpSHO the idea is that by USING it, you won't have that problem any more.

  • @GeekAustin that would be just using the bike, not the CW, i might fry it the first 1 degree incline we meet

  • Neat idea, but for the love of god, use your college's media room to do voice recording; ibook microphones sound *terrible*

  • CONGRATULATIONS

you now cant use your bike in the city because someone will steal it the moment you look any other direction than you looking at your bike

  • Only available to those special douche bags who have iphones, and fixies.

  • Oh spare me. It's all so constructed -- European narrator accent, European branding.... blah blah. Get real. This will put but a microscopic dent in carbon omissions, even if it turns out as successful as its creators dreamt (if they did at all... seems pretty uninspired to me). Androgenous spikey haired bike messengers -- enjoy your self-satisfaction.

(BTW -- I'm gay, live in W. Europe, and am politically left than any of your Brooklyn bullshiters can dream.)

  • @judithbjini It's better than seeing american telly. They all acting like there in a toothbrush commercial! So wtf are you nagging about! seriously, if you think european narrator voice is stupid, have you ever seen the IQ of american television? it's all about fame, looks and smiling fakely. Jesus christ.

  • Coooooollll bike gadget....

  • This is a complex solution in search of a problem. How dissatisfied do you have to be with current bike technology to see these features as improvements?

  • Thank god. Now we can stop consuming so many irreplaceable human pedal-pushes.

  • It's breakthrough is that its packed into that rear hub so all you need is the wheel to convert any existing bike, rather than buying a whole new weird e-bike, also the website says you can "add more battery packs" for hilly terrain - of course that also means dragging more weight. If it's plug-in rechargeable that make sense to me but theres no mention of that.

  • so a couple of questions. is this for sale right now? and do you have to have a smart phone in order to use it?

  • It's a bit of a techno babble wank-off, I'm think.

It's too heavy to be easy to pedal up the hills, since the battery/capasitor bank is too small to boost you all the way up said hill, no matter how much you brake before it.

So it fails in a flat area, where you don't really need the boost (such as Copenhagen).

And it fails in the really hilly areas, because it doesn't have enough oomph.

And all the electronic jizz doesn't help you move about.

    Get a lightweight bicycle instead.

  • @Jesus45U How do you know how heavy the storage unit is? Seriously, wait to start bagging on it once you've actually given it a test run.

  • @Trixtah

I say it because I've had my hands on it.

  • ai ai.... se não tivesse assalto em recife......

  • jaich fände es richtig schön wen mich jemand vor dem allein sein erlöst , grade langweile pur

  • The narrator sounds like Molly of Rocketboom....?

  • I would buy one but I would prefer the interface be an android phone.

  • @gandhirama They didn't actually say Iphone but smart phone interface ;)

  • cool, it will be good if we tap the power from the wheel to charge our phones and laptops, after we cycled to the park to do our work.

  • even if it works does it mean we move back from cars to bycicles?i think its unrealistic..despite its novelty and apparent usefulness.i think the car has a very deep psychological attachment..i think ivestment in public transport is the way forward

  • @DogeKhan i don't think the bike is a step "back". almost all of our everyday routes are below 5 km - especially in cities it's close to madness to take a car for that. public transport is an important part of a new mobility concept, but I think the bike should also be one. After all, it's also more healthy, quiet, and flexible. ;)

  • Myshkin rocks!! IIMC jai ho!!!

  • where can i get one?

  • YES.Go Wheels :)

  • is this thing for real? i think it is great, but sounds too good to be true

  • Riding a bicycle in most parts of the world is dangerous. There's not bicycle dedicated lanes and weather conditions affect riding surface.

  • @drealm Yet many cities can cope with it. :)

  • does anyone know name of this song playin in the background :D?

  • I don't really see regenerative braking as a huge boost for bicycling because the brakes are not really stopping a large mass. A cyclists biggest obstacle is overcoming wind resistance, not rolling resistance. I can usually come up to full speed within 10 revolutions and because of my smaller mass, I carry less momentum than a heavier vehicle traveling the same speed. I would have to try this out to see a benefit.

  • ...or you could just get in shape

  • I'm pretty sure this is a "concept" than an actual application. eBikes are really only useful for commuters and are already pretty expensive as it is. Hopefully though concepts like this can be translated into cheaper units that can be used as a social data gathering. Here in Florida we use cell phones to map traffic flows on our highways, and to map the number of occupants per vehicle.

  • can you provide additional specifications about the motor, and or batteries ???

  • Which it is. Replace roads with ,say plexi-glass alcoves with fresh and warm air ventilation for lanes of riding cyclists in a green transport across the cities While still allowing Nature access over or under, and netting to keep animals off the roads. Minimize heavy loads and vehicles, allow roads only for heavy transport and emergency vehicles, decrease sizes of said vehicles also. Increase road safety for said vehicles.

  • Bike looks awesome but I need a stupid iPhone to ride it? What if I don't want to buy Apple stuff? What if it's pouring rain during your ride?? So the bike prob costs more so only the people who can afford an iphone and plan, AND the bike can use it. Fewer people seen with them will make it "trendy" and not a serious choice.

  • spot on mate

  • It wouldn't have to be an IPhone. It's just the most popular smart-phone on the market, so it's obvious why they would use it in this demo.

Your complaints regarding weather is however 100% valid.

  • @101101101777 An Iphone is shown but really all they said was smartphone, which is going to pretty much be the standard in 5-10 years.

  • @101101101777 They say "smartphone", not just "Apple" (I don't use Apple products myself). I can't imagine that the actual boost technology is dependent on the smartphone, but of course you'd be paying for the "extra feature". It'd be nice if the smartphone hookup were offered as an OPTION.

  • @101101101777 they used the image of an iphone, but they mention specifically smartphone. I assume they would have apps for various platforms, not just for the iphone

  • @101101101777

Luckily, you don't need an iphone to ride it. At our lab, we like to imagine the future of riding (in 10-15 years from now) and part of this future is using something like your phone to control your bike. Also, we are working on both android and iphone platform as well as a stand-alone device for those that don't have smart phones.

This video is a vision of a future, not an ultimate reality. Hope this helps.

  • @CityInnovation

Have you EVER had an electronics FREE holiday like just riding a basic bike - through the mountains for 2 weeks?

Or are you just some dumb fuck chic - who has he head so far up her own arse that her life is only worthwhile by going to university and arse kissing your way through the anals of institutionalised life?

Noooo I don't want a fucking phone on my bike... I just want to ride my fucking bike. Facebook is for arseholes. Apple computers is run by nazi control freaks -

  • @101101101777 Smartphone doesn't have to equal iPhone.

  • Awesome!

  • do want

  • i want a 6 galon muscle car :)

  • ALL WE NEED IS BIKE!!!!!!

  • I like that one! Very adorable view. Nice connection with electronics especially bike locking through mobile bluetooth interface. Anyway you need a waterproof and shockproof case for you device.

  • LOL! What a great idea.

I have one like that, it's called a dynamo!

My version: 30$ worth of electronics power 2x3W LEDs and charging my waterproof Garmin 60CSX.

Traffic information: Who cares? I'm cycling.

Pollution: Can I do anything about it once it's there? I have my nanoparticle mask with me all the time.

Green miles: If you're that kind of treehugging trade unionist or CND lesbian look up tracking in your GPS yourself.

    Sanity for green thinkers!

    Viktor

    (vegetarian and cyclist)

  • Nanoparticle mask??

Are you freaking serious? Do you have a tinfoil hat too??

  • Did you ever tried to read while you are driving a bike?

Or to update your facebook profile? :)))

By the way... Is iphone rainproof? ;)

  • i want one. now!

  • What happens when the batteries need to be replaced?

Do I really need to have a iphone?

I doubt we will see this in Canada, ebikes are limited to 32km/hr...my regular bike can go much faster than that already...cute idea, limited scope.

  • BIKES FOR EVERYONE !!!!!!

  • Alguna persona podria decirme cuando llega esta maravilla de biciqueta a CHILE.

  • Hey this is a knock off of the "Sham-Wheel"

  • It's just useless i don't really know what people see in this and it's progressing name "the copenhagen wheel" sounds like messerschmitt and also very gay get real MIT.

  • that's actually Boston, by the CHarles River.

  • The voice-over sound quality is bad, and some of the video footage is also low quality. Which is a pity, because the product itself is interesting.

  • There are many people with disabilities and whatnot- I have arthritis and this would allow me to cycle again.

  • You can certainly tell who the weak cyclists are by the comments. They are the ones that think it's a cool idea.

  • I think it's a cool idea just because it's innovative.

Nobody's forcing you to buy it.

  • love it!!

  • maravilhosa genial idéia parabens vou ajudar a divulgar pois tem que espalhar este tipo de projeto!

  • how is it disgusting? I ride a bike everywhere I go, and this is appealing to me. how does adding new tech to a bike take away its enjoyability? Why would I buy a Prius and pay tax, insurance, and petrol, when I can travel by electric bike for free?

  • Its obviously a bit discusting for the traditionalists, but I think its trying to make cycling inticing for car users, less frequent cyclists or people interested in technology. I wouldn't be worried about human's screwing it up (how does that even make sense) though like the other chap - there will long be simple components.

  • I hear you. Its the same traditionalists who complain that film killed the theatre and that video killed the radio. If you can make cycling a more automated faster experience without sacrificing its 0% emissions and its ability to keep you fit, then why wouldn't you?

  • I agree

  • You, sir, are an idiot.

  • How much does this hub weigh? and can it produce cooked pizza slices for in journey consumption?

  • 00:30 front tire is quite low. unfortunately no motor will help with bad cyclists...

  • I wonder if you can control the motor and smart phone settings/display via voice sent by bluetooth headset? If not, they should work on that!

  • i am a avid road and mtn biker

i've seen documentaries on copenhagen, the huge amount of bikes there is helped by the 100% tax on cars in addition to other penalties for driving. people there are nearly fiscally forced onto bikes.

green miles = big brother knows every footstep.

  • 180% tax on cars i may add ;)

  • lets complicate bike riding. yaahh!!

fake green hollywood is going to jump all over this.

  • The wheel as an object it is beautiful, and the connection of the spokes to the hub is especially elegant. It appears as if the the spoke curves on itself then reconnects to the rim, so the only contact is the apex of the curve just touching the hub. This is not practical and makes for a very weak wheel and very hard to maintain (tru). To keep this look, maybe an eyelet that simply protrudes out of he surface that the spoke passes through that is attacked structurally inside the hub.

  • genius idea, excellent execution

    simply WOW

  • how much is it?? whats the price??

  • $500 ~$1000

  • See video for breakdown of the internals. Essentially an internally geared hub with a motor and then a battery assembly around that. When you brake, the motor becomes a generator putting some of your spent energy back into the batteries. Estimated prices I saw were between $500-1000 USD. Negatees some weight by removing multiple dérailleurs and gears. Phone features are a gimmick for the wireless crowd. If it helps people be motivated to ride, so be it.

  • Erm, so how exactly does it work ? Has it got a motor in it? And a battery presumably? So that's going to weigh, ooo, about 5kg at least ? What do I get with my "frequent cyclist miles"? How much will it cost? Does it's manufacturing footprint far outweigh it value as an aid to cycling? I cycle everywhere, the last thing I need is a gimmick in the middle of my back wheel!

  • Bumm...

It 'generates' energy through braking. My question is how is that energy 'stored' for later use.

  • By breaking. Do know weight though, don't expect it to be a lightweighter i guess

  • What if I don't own a smart phone?

  • It will still work. You'll most likely be able to access the GPS data via a laptop or PC over Bluetooth.

  • well we need to exhume some raw materials from the earth so you can your hands on an apple iphone that you replace every year.

  • How much does it weigh? How does it store energy?
