lol 8.25. speed cameras, making sure this 20 feet of straight dual carriageway is 'safe'. looking down at the speedometer on a bike rather than watching the road is dangerous.
I hate that they get away with having them scattered on roads that shouldnt have such a low speed limit. How many stolen cars and joyriders and actual criminals has a speed camera stopped? but you do 40 in a 30, you will know all about it mr honestman.
Ok the sv650 is a good bike with a good engine. 0-60 more like 4.5. i take it you own one that is why you love it. i have never had one but my friend did and when we went out i used to leave him from a stand still and top end and that was on a vfr800 vtec and they are not super fast! ride safe.
they are not slow! compared to a gsxr 600 top speed they are. but not slow at all. I stay with inline 4 bikes all the way to 130mph then they pull on me. for a v-twin the SV's are champs!
I wonder how the SV650 performs on concrete mountain roads. I have done a 300 KM road trip across some mountains from cental honduras to northern honduras (CentralAmerica)on a smaller Suzuki. I am thinking of getting an SV650 and repeat the experience....I am sure it´ll be a thrill....maybe I can video it...
here in vegas we have a streatch of freeway thats just nasty, I had to loosten my sv's suspention all the way or else my back end bounces off the ground. ya have to go 110MPH just to keep from feeling it. nice ride, cheers !
nice video man. your a good rider.. just be careful when filtering like that. just be patient and sit behind until they move... if they dont then give em a hoot. i got an Sv650s and there amazing fun.... but atm mine is restricted so im itching for july 09 when i can take it off!
at the mo my bike will do 90mph all day with the restrictor.... if you really push it... it just struggles to go over 100mph. sv650's are great to restrict tho because they still have some of that v-twin torque that you dont get on other restricted bikes.... i have on board videos of my bike uploaded so take a look if you want :)
Insurance: annual rate will probably be outrageous because of the age / power ratio. But I could be wrong, depending on the area you live in, rider's experience, etc. I'd still like to warn you that it could be very very costly to insure a young rider on a bike like this (even if it is not a 4 cylinder speed demon)
i'm still looking for a bike, but there are so many out there, this kind of bike looks reasonable, and quite stylish, I've also heard they are fairly reliable bikes to have, so i guess we'll see
I purchased a 2003 SV650 last summer at the age of 17. Now 18, I just renewed my insurance through Progressive. I don't have any violations/speeding tickets, and to insure the bike for one year is a bit more than $600. Thats with the 50,100,25K uninsured & underinsured premiums. That also includes comprehensive and collision. Hope that helps!
I appreciate the video. I'm thinking about getting back into motorcycling after a long layoff and am interested in the sv650 and really appreciate the vicarious experience of the ride you've treated us to. You're a good rider. Thanks.
Bouncy roads, jeez!! Nice riding other than the going around and between cars was a bit disconcerting. But you seem to handle it well, nice quick shifts in turns and everything too.
Bloody Micra (at 6:17) :) and people who don't move over are such buzz kills. U got some speed up going past the Capital Center. I've just got a SV650, anyway cool vid.
I'm thinking about trading in my TLS for one and this vid sure didnt put me off...,revving my TL nowadays means either getting killed or nicked, ive ridden a lot of SV's as a mechanic and think its a magnificent roadbike.
are you talking about the tl1000, i thought of getting one mainly because i can find it cheaper than an sv also i like the dual exhaust, why do u prefer it to the sv?
I was talking TL1000S and SV650 indeed and i still prefer the SV because its a far better/more modern ride and i woudnt miss the extra top-end power on the road anyway, however i'm fed up with roadbikes and swapped the TL for a classic Audi 200, best deal ive ever made so far :-)SV1000 also has a dual exhaust and for the 650 there's plenty of aftermarket stuff for sale, a TL may be cheaper to buy but its defenitly more expensive to run even if it doesnt break down.
ive kept up with a ninja 600 from 0-100 continuous following him with out even ripping on it, it was cake to do, i have a 05 sv650s, great bike, a lil scary to ride wheelies if u ask me though
Ive followed a new R6 from standing and got all the way to 100 without getting left and im pretty sure he was going for it... Great little bike... still thinking about going for the bigger 1000 soon though :)
man just seeing that thing accelerate puts a smile on my face, i've ridden ZX6 Ninjas and Honda CBR 600s and I am pretty sure I'm gonna buy one of these SV650 suckers, either that or the bigger brother SV1000
I AM ASHAMED OF HOW YOU RIDE MY BIKE IN EUROPE.

so true. half the speed cameras are placed in ridiculous areas and have no warning that they're there.

Riding in the UK must suck.
Too many traffic lights. Roads are narrow. Speed cameras everywhere. Wet roads.
henh32 4 years ago 11
pretty true, but we've still got some lovely country roads to blast.just got to know where they are.
gazmutd 3 years ago 3
I suppose Surrey/Sussex borders e.g. Crawley, Box Hill etc are decent. Also some in the Northampton area where I lived for a while..
Just watch out for the traffic cops with radar guns hiding in the bushes!

Cheers man, brought back a tear that did!
My SVS got nicked and trashed about 2 months ago, awesome bike.
A question to the guy who said ...
