Uhh, I see the people who don't support EV's didn't mention electricity generated by solar plants. Research is definitely progressing with solar cells, making them far more efficient. Solar panels don't cause pollution to generate energy. And if you argue that it causes pollution during production, of course it does. But eventually production plants could be powered by solar and wind energy. Also if a bird runs into a giant spinning fan blade, it had it coming. Natural selection.
I know this is youtube, and this will probably blow up into a huge argument.. but let me just say this. Even if we were to use all the petroleum to make electricity(for EVs) instead of burning it directly using internal combustion engines, There would still be less used, and less wasted. Reason is, cars with conventional engines are terribly inefficent. Electric vehicles actually waste less so they therefore need less.
I know eveyone is probably going to say "prove it!" but the proof is, electric vehicles are being mass produced. If it wasn't so, nobody would bother manufacturing an electric car. The other proof is how cheap it is to "fuel" an electric car.
Thats not to say that the whole EV concept is perfect, but I think alot of people are overly critical of the electric car.
You have got to be kidding. This power to charge these batteries will magically appear from out of nowhere. Kind of like all those second-handers expecting to receive something for nothing!
I hope the people buying those electric cars are either supporting wind turbines over those bird being killed by those wind turbines., or supporting the terraforming of land to construct the massive hydro-electric damns to generate that extra electricity needed.
Or we could switch to a hydrogen economy, stop using battery powered EV and use fuel celled powered EVs.
Let's hope they aren't burning dirty fossil fuels or using nuclear power to power the turbines to generate the electricity to power those cars. And if a lot of people start buying these cars, it is hoped they don't overload the electric grid and contribute to the rolling blackouts that are already going on in parts of this country.

@monkeyman143 Just look up what happens to the poor bats when they fly close to a wind turbine :(

@phazah
Fuel cells cost more than Lithium batteries and wear out considerably faster.

@Mpoconnor7
That's all been addressed already. Even on a dirty grid, EVs are cleaner than gas vehicles.
