If You Don't Just love this You Are Truly DEAD! I mean Deceased! Jerry & Brent Jam Sooo Freakin hard! This Is One of My all Tyme Fave Songs..LIVE!!! All Hail Jerry!!!
@08shortstop Mydland's vocals add so much to it. When he belts out "You're gonna know just how I feel" at 2:54, I lose it. You can feel his raw emotion and energy.
Florence and the Machine does an amazing cover of this song, I think it would be amazing if Jerry Garcia were alive and he'd play the guitar to this and Florence's voice together would be heavenly!!!
Only Grateful Dead could take a 2 minute song and drag it out to 10 minutes! I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I'm just saying they're the only ones who could pull it off!
Liking this music has nothin to to with being a hippie. It's about getting high spiritually and embracing our differences by expressing ourselves creatively.

Passion, tradition, and deep vibes. That's how the Dead got away with being looser and more noodly than most other bands. Just put this on loudly and listen purely to the power of the music, not to the skill level of each individual musician.

@piperpilot26 Your right! I've seen the dead at least 10 times and live, they just go off on long jams that last 25 mins, then go right into something else and do the same thing. Its like they are improvising the entire show. Their albums are tight, but thats about it.
After listening to my fair share of the Dead, it seems to me that their feel was always to loose, nothing was every really tight, like the feel you would get from a funk/fusion band. The dead certainly insprired a lot of musicians, but to me their live shows sounded like one really long sound check..
im 15 and i have loved the dead since i was 10 because my grandpa was a deadhead... i know that i wasnt even born until shortly after jerry's sad death but i love all of their songs!
Jerry’s solos always served up more noodles than lunchtime in Chinatown, but did he have to dump them all over a classic Buddy Holly tune? And there’s that hideous wheedly guitar tone, which practically makes you want to scratch a chalkboard for relief.
I was at this show, lived 20 minutes away from Alpine Valley at the time. Still know the back way in! Anyway, this was a great show toward the beginning of a great (sadly final) era. Thanks guys!
