actually istanbul was the capital city of ottoman empire until 85 years ago. but by the time in world war first, istanbul was wanted to capture from the see by some europes county... whathever and later when turkish repuplic was set up, the capital city of turkey had been turned to Ankara by Mustafa Kemal ATATURK. yes istanbul is very historical and beutuful city but it is very dangerusly to capture. but ankara is not... this is why that is not capital city of turkey my friend:)
