He became a friend and someone I really looked forward to seeing year after year. He was a superlative of every virtue - he was intensly wise and saw the best in everyone. That is not true. They threatened the Christians and killed them if they didn't convert. That is why it is majority Moslem. Look at Lebanon- the majoritiy of the country used to be Christina about 30 years ago, now look, mostly Moslem and constant wars. The most beautiful country in the Middle East is torn into pieces, where families are scared to visit.

This is in response to Poliman2007. Additionally, the Assyrians and Babylonians controlled Iraq and were converted to Christianity by ST. Thomas the Apostle himself. From history, it was the Arab Empire that took over and murdered Christians to take over the land. It is in history books if you want to read it. Christians were threatened and persecuted. It was not anything done peacefully.

I have family that just recently moved here from Iraq. I pray for the Christians in Iraq and the torture and persecutions they are facing. Moslems are kidnapping children, killing and kidnapping Priests (God Bless Father Ragheed), holding people for ransom, ordering fathers to hand over their daughters, and when the fathers don't they are murdered. You tell me- is this right? The Chaldean and Assyrian Christians were there along time before the Moslems came, this is their land.

They are fleeing their homeland not because they want to, but because if they don't, the women will be raped, children kidnapped, or families killed. This is what the Moslems want, a predominantly Moslem country done through violence like it was during the Arab Empire.

First of all, you should understand that the Sunni muslims should be in power in order to let other religious minorities live in peace. Therefore the Sunnis lost power in Iraq and all religious minorities suffer including sunnis. get this inside your mind. It is only the Sunni muslims who have the best tolerance to others. and no one else.

How come that since Muslims took over the middle east and north Africa, Christians still living there.If they face threats and persecution they would leave, Historians tell us that during the ottoman Rule for 450 years Christians used to immigrate from Europe to Muslim countries and flourish there.
