  • Ryu loves this song.

  • ssshhhh everybody dont want anyone but us to know how GREAT EDDIE IS

  • Vocals at first sound like DLR

  • Man I liked them both ... With Roth it was fun music that was just cool , didn't really have any meaning just fun music . With Hagar it was cool guitar riffs , great lyrics and alot of energy . So I agree with Beowulf151 just enjoy the tunes man !!!!

  • While 5150 was great, I thought this album was probably the best Hagar era album. I mean, it kept VH relevant when 80's rock died down and grunge and rap took over the music world.

  • @JNvids I like 5150 a little more but this one was great too just liked 5150 a little bit more .

  • David Lee Roth FOR SURE

  • I'D LIKE SOME POUNDCAKE!

  • HELL TO THE YES ON THAT ONE

  • Comment removed

  • as with kiss and aerosmith, i like shit off all the van halen albums, no matter whos singin

  • I happen to like hagar era VH just as much as Roth era VH.

  • For sure one of my favorite songs by them.

  • This fuckin song grabs me by the balls , whips me against the wall , chases me down and finishes off the notational beating by spiraling into a spiritual wall of sound unrivaled by mere mortal music preceding or following.

  • @mlmr11 Couldn't have articulated it better. Haha

  • best sammay hagar van halen song

  • Punisher Worldwide 747 of the Seven Sea's Trade Winds, Continental Drift,Atlantic Seaboard,Pacific Rim , and I just-- got---laid.....

  • TURN THIS SHIT UP.........ITS BEAST!

  • -----loves his Lil-Mama's PoundCake!!!!

  • hmm Id eat any kind a cake ahaha

  • @hypernova20 Custard Pie!!

  • Van Halen's best song ... except for a somewhat weak break right in the middle ...

  • I've never had Pound Cake. Is it good? Whats in it?

  • Ugh, YES! MY BABY'S POUNDCAKE! Memories with this song...

  • I like the song... and the cake.

  • FK my life.. is this album 26 years old??!!? NOW i feel very old ><

  • I think both Sammy and Dave are amazing singers and I am getting really tired of these constasnt fights between the 2 groups of fans. They are on every friggin song here its annoying just sit back and enjoy the friggin song.

  • YOU KNOW ITS GOOD WHEN THERES NO COVERS!!!

  • this is my 2nd favorite Van Hagar song! the first is "Summer Night's"! sorry people i grew up back in the day when Roth was the lead singer!! peace to all !!!

  • back when you had to be a real musician to make music.

  • i think this songs about anal sex

  • This song should be on Ubisofts' Rocksmith! I have a drill,...let's DO THIS !

  • Hey, I saw it done with my own eyes (the drill thing) at the Powerstation in Burbank, CA.! It was at the first rehearsal for that tour. He uses the drill on the top of the neck and then drags the pick down the strings! Its real and it is so friggin' cool to see!!!! By the way experiencing that rehearsal was.... well it was almost surreal, man!!!! Thanks to Edward VH and Scotty Ross for giving me that gift of a lifetime!!!!!

  • it even takes 10 seconds to start on vinyl and CD

  • Roth vs Hagar. Some say Roth. Others say Hagar. But I think we can all agree that Eddie Van Halen is downright amazing.

  • Its funny that "for unlawful carnal knowledge" stands for F.U.C.K!

  • @NinjaG0D221 Give the man a captain obvious badge!!!

  • alright clearly thats a pick drag to all you tards who think he actually put a powerdrill to his friggin guitar just cuz of the video

  • @zackdawak21 He uses an electric drill. Same as Paul Gilbert does on Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy. And in fact both Paul and Billy Sheehan play the solo together using a power drill each which has three picks on it. Eddie 'borrowed' the idea from Paul for this album, but Paul does it much better than Eddie.

This is all verifiable. You just gotta jump on wikipedia and look up drill. Then scroll down to 'unusual uses'.

  • @zackdawak21

Watch "Live: Right Here, Right Now" when Poundcake starts, he uses the drill. Video might be here somewhere.

  • @grrgot

Way to be, this song rules

  • @samsam hes talking about using a powerdrill on the strings of the guitar. Thats how eddie did it.

  • @bustedq he reved the drill up above the pickup but not on the strings

  • @bustedq srry and no offense but thats not how he did it.

he did a "pick drag" as its called

  • @samsam18200 If that's just a pick drag with no effects, i'm doing something wrong.

  • Eddy fucking rules!!!!

  • I'D LIKE SUM POOUNDCAKE

  • @grrgot they are both legends

  • this is how guitar is played right down the street

  • Sit back, listen for the first time, and get your world ROCKED.

  • 26 years later the morons are STILL debating the Roth/Hagar thing???? Its 2011, guys.....cut off your mullets, trade in the acid wash jeans and just enjoy the music.

  • @beowulf151 You can have my mulllet when you take it from my cold dead head!

  • @beowulf151 LOL!

  • @beowulf151 Spoken like a boss.

  • @beowulf151

    Hagar > Roth

  • They can have my acid-washed jeans when they pry them from my cold, dead thighs.

  • @beowulf151 LOLOLOL

  • Reminds me of the summer it came out. I took a college math class that was self-paced. You told the instructor what your major was and he circled the tests you had to take. You could use the whole semester or take 'em all in one day and if you passed, you were done. I took and passed all my tests over about a week and a half and said goodbye. LOL

  • EVILUNIXUSER1 ........that would be a cherished memory if it were me. vice

  • remember nailing my future fiancee to this when it came out

  • Sammy Hagar absolutely rocks. This band was shit till he joined

  • @ManicNirvana90 Let the titles Jump, Runnin' with the devil and dance the night away jump across your mind. Both era's had wonderful music, you can't take the away.

  • HOLY SHIT! Never knew that the first letter of each word of the album name spells "fuck."

  • F.U.C.K.-ing badass!

  • @Gamelord804 Cheers to that bro!

  • I don't care about Hagar or Roth ... It's Eddie's guitar my ears drown in !

  • @risingforce121

    Hagar > Roth

  • @broskiskunk Eddie Van Halen

  • @broskiskunk

    Hagar = Roth

Van Halen is Van Halen, no matter who sings

  • @risingforce121 big props dude

  • ....but i like carrot cake

  • one of their best songs, hands down

  • Both David Lee Roth and Sammi Hagar were great singers in their time with Van Halen, but Sammi was better solo than David!! personally I like Sammy Hagar better, but David Lee Roth was damn good in VH(VH and 1984)

  • Such an under-appreciated album-Personally, one of their best-didn't get enough attention back in the day

  • nothing against ed but he got the idea for the drill from paul gilbert he was using it on the guitar a good five years before this was released

  • Van Halen rocks. Roy Orbison could be singing and they would rock.

  • you see Anti-Hagar shit on the Dave years of Van Halen... who cares, Van Halen's Van Halen

  • Roth and Hager Rock!!

  • when this song was released, it just fucking smoked and annihilated the speakers of any stereo is was being played out of. this was Van Halen at their epitome, their fuckin' prime. Sammy smoked up all the nonbelievers like a rolled up blunt, and took this album to being named 1991 album of the year. Van Halen was so fucking red hot during this time. No other band could hold a candle to them, and in my opinion, still cant.

  • Interesting song.

  • @TheDorianTormak underrated? i think being considered top 10 greatest rock bands of all time isnt exactly underrated. and their album sales speak for themselves.

  • @TheDorianTormak At their time VH was #1 for a VERY long time....... didn't you know that?

  • Van Cherone is the best!

  • @voidofbeeswax which planet are you from?

  • @mooper11 planet fag!

  • man i love this song

  • Van Halen is Eddy and Alex, they don't need a singer

  • @TheSolarDiva WRONG!!!

  • Dave was just better, much more soulful and charismatic.

  • @StoneyMcJuicyBuds Van Halen is and always will be David Lee Roth, Eddie, Alex & Michael!

  • @StoneyMcJuicyBuds and gleefull..lol

  • its not van hagar or van roth.!! ITS VAN HALEN !! rock on

  • Monsters of Rock tour October 1988, I was there as well, God I hate people who cant get their shit straight

  • For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge le meilleur album de Van Halen.

  • ROB...VAN...DAM!!!

  • if they really are making a new album. God lets hope its as good as there old stuff.

  • Sara Lee sponsored this song.

  • David and Sammy both kick ass and Gary sucked there now we all be happy

  • fine poundcake can be hard to get

  • Saw them do this live back in the 80's Monsters of Rock Festival at Tampa Stadium as the sun was going down. Perfect finish to an awesome day!!!!

  • @TheeGatorNator

First of all this song came out in 1991dipshit!!! so I find it very interesting how you saw this song at monsters of rock concert in the late eighties. Plus Van halen weren't doing monster of rock tours back then. Next time you decide to lie like a douchebag get you're facts straight fuck face.

  • @wslydaniels First of all asswipe when I said do this I meant rock out not the song so get ur panties out ur crack son. Secondly if you google monsters of rock van halen 80's u will see they did do a Monsters of Rock tour in 88 .... Now whos the douchbag idiot. I know I was there boy. Now quit trollin youtube misquoting shit to make yourself feel tougher than you really are. Now get off moms tit and get out her basement and get a real life dipshit.

  • Roth is best squeeler / party, hype man ever - Makes the crowd happy

Hagar is one of best singer u coud find - Makes the crown happy

Eddie probably the most influencial rock guitarist ever - Makes the crowd happy

MIchael and Alex are the most solid bass/drum pair in rock - Makes the crowd happy

I hope everyone is getting the picture

  • who don't like poundcake ????

  • awesome song nuff said

  • This is my favorite Hagar song.

  • i remember listening to this song in my uncles car when i was a kid.

  • loved the old stuff but this album kicked ass!!!!! Saw LIVE in Omaha back in the 90's

  • This album is ok...Not a big fan of the songs on this album...eddies guitar riffs are still there however I find the guitar to distant sounding on this album and Im not crazy about eddies guitar sound...its to mechanical sounding on this album...overall I would give the album a 6 out of 10...not great but doesnt suck either.

  • A really good song about what really matters in life.

Let me get on some a'that!

  • Chill all over my body!!

  • love it

  • I wish my power drill sounded half that awesome!

  • @CapnJay214Supra that sound was maid with a guitar u no, i no how to do that with mine to

  • they played this at the celtics it got everyone pumped!

  • The drums!

  • (first 16 seconds) eddie walks into the studio and pops a cassette tape into a recorder...."aint that sum shit,..you ready to go?,..lets do it...alright!"

  • best song about cake ever

  • @CavenEdwards This was a great album. i loved david lee. but unlike most bands who lose there front man, van halen was just as good....david lee liked to do alot of covers from what i heard. The band is who pushed for originals.

  • @sneak108 actually, dave never really bothered to learn the words to covers for a lot of his time in van halen, unless it was one he knew well already.

  • Yeah shut the F up about Hagar vs. Roth and GET YOU SOME Pou ou ou ou ound cake!

  • I don't get it. Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers saw some of the best players ever go through it's ranks and no one ever complained that the sound changed drastically depending on who was in the band at the time. Miles, Santana, Deep Purple; same thing. Hell, Zappa went thru more changes than Madonna's wardrobe and people got on board. VH changed lead singers and people started having conniptions and drawing lines in the sand. Stupid! Enjoy it for what it is, folks, and not what it isn't. Peace.

  • like eddie didn't suck a little anyway... he def needed both of those guys, who are both SUPER def not as talented musically as eddie but way better at sex and drugs. there are really awesome songs all over the place. t would be a shame if any of those guys have any regrets because shit, to be in that band cold kickin it live would beat walking on the moon any day of the week and not a lot of people, even other rock stars, or astronouts have known what it is like to play this stuff to a crowd.

  • @Gamelord804 Hagar is better

  • oh man that bass is kickin!!

  • One of the most sexiest intros ever

  • Unmistakable Eddie guitar sound, clearly making his guitar wail like only he can. One of the best ever.

  • Van halen is better with David and Hagar, equal:)

  • the bass work here is the key!!! micheal is on fire!!

  • I remember racing to the record store to by the CD on the day it came out only to be met by some over chatty record store guy wanting me to guess what the background on the cover was...pigskin wasn't on my mind I just wanted to pay for it and go home and play it. Had to wait until November before they came to town along with a young new band at the time, Alice in Chains.

  • I don't care what anyone says Sammy is a great singer

  • when sam hagar was in the band it was called Van hagar!

  • VH peaked with F.U.C.K.

Yes, there was great stuff before this, but this was the last of the glory days for VH. Everything else after this was not as good.

"Balance" was alright, but it wasn't quite up to the mark the F.U.C.K. set.

I prefer to remember Sammy and EVH this way: At the peak of their careers.

  • @Gamelord804 go suck another dick,bee-otch

  • @CavenEdwards Definitely! If my memory serves me they never had a number 1 album with Roth, but 3 or 4 with Sammy.

  • @MrElfro89 They had a number 1 single Jump with Dave. Never an album. Thriller kept 1984 out of number 1.

  • I love that part in the middle at about 2:10 to 2:12 I play that part over and over LOL

  • el video es igual de exitante que la cancion ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Van Halen with Dave is a different band than their time with Hagar. The sound with Hagar is more produced. With Dave it was looser and rougher. I connect more with the Dave era probably because it appeals to a younger state of mind but I still love listening to Van Hagar. I just don't think you can compare the two bands. They sound so different.

  • @CavenEdwards Absolutely. I may even like them better with Hagar, call me crazy...

  • @Spike294 youre crazy,or stupid,maybe both,yep both

  • @allhailrussell Uhh...Sorry?

  • This one and "Finish What You Started" are probably my 2 favorite "Van Hagar" songs. Why? Because I could easily picture Dave singing them. They both have that sense of humor that otherwise was lacking in the Hagar era. Of course Dave would find a way to avoid the higher ranges that Sammy is accustomed to but that's okay. No flames please just my two lousy pennies. :>)

  • @nyshortline Roth or Hagar, it's all good, IMHO. Poundcake, Top Of The World, 316, Dreams, & Feels so Good are my faves.

  • @bluecollarcanuck couldn't agree with u more. when 5150 came out there was no way i was buying it cuz i thought no way can can this be any good without dave. but my brother bought it and tricked me into listening 2 it and i must say sammy had me at hello...........baby

  • @Gamelord804 they're comparing Wolfgang to Michael too. They haven't even given the kid a chance

  • Mr. Anthony was my idol.....

  • michael is bassass

  • play it Mike Tony! (Think about it)...... I'm not too crazy on the Hagar-era of Halen, but I like this, and I respect Hagar, I really do

  • When i was a kid like 7-10 this was my favorite album it never left my "playskool" Tap player with that little clown face on it. love it.

  • no joke, that is the least amount of dislikes I've ever seen on a video

  • van halens only mistake was losing sammy.

  • van halens only mistake was losing sammy.what a rockin s.o.b.

  • vandalen:-)

  • I'd like some Pound Cake!

  • i love Eddies solo on this song..pretty passionate and LOUUUUUUD!!!!!

  • Raaar...Would any one what some POUNDCAKE. I would like some POUNDCAKE

  • Fukken Sammy!

  • @Soler1441931 Don't take things from these stupid people.

    Poundcake is like a cake.

But than you only use the base of it and bake that.

You can also try googleing it.

  • Lol pound cake is my first all by myself made baking thing

  • man, that´s what i call music

  • i have that VH symbol from that cd cover tattood on my arm!

  • POUND CAKE IS PUSSY DOPE!!!!

  • @Soler1441931

pound cake is a girls ass

  • FKN SWEET SONG!.....

  • Sammy is much better than David in all ways

  • ♫♫, copy and paste, alt 41 didnt work

  • Hr. Rasmussen går amok 3:-)

Arme nabo siger jeg bare, nu har han igen igen holdt mig vågnen den halve nat med sit rådne fjernsyn og faldet i søvn fra det :-@

    Hævnen er sød ;o))

  • do not know what it means poundcake? the girls have one...
