I love this beautiful song, delivered with so much love and emotion by Phil. He seems to have allowed criticism to get the better of him, but he's one of the greatest ever. Maybe not the hippest or most avant-garde, just one of the best ever.

Phil used to follow Yes around in concert and was a good friend of legendary drummer Bill Bruford. That must have solidified the interest he had in progressive rock which led him to Genesis. Though it is interesting that Phil also had a hand in changing the band toward pop.

I dislike how people tend to compare phil and chester where drumming skills are concerned. I think they are both incredible drummers and have their own styles of playing and technique etc and when they come together like on many songs from the Genesis live concerts they just work so well. btw great performence, When In Rome is probably my favourite live dvd of them all. :)

Forgot to add that also, Phil Collins could sell records with just his voice. Didn't need to dress in certain outifts or present a great video in order to get people to like his music. Something we have lost nowadays.
