  • great stuff ! I'll retweet this Logoblink :)

  • Ive recently found myself in the position of trying to compensate that he describes, it's amazing how far you can get in design without good illustration skills, but to really do the good work, it is essential. The only part i disagree with is the pessimism at the end, it's never too late to learn :)

  • Sketching is one of the most important things in design

  • Well, this advice is a little outdated, there are many new fields of design that don't require traditional drawing skills. Then again, he was a traditional designer.

  • @00cm You don't need great amazing Michelangelo, Da Vinci drawing skills. But everything starts with an idea, or a sketch. No matter how horrible that sketch maybe that's where it starts. If you don't do it that way you're wasting lots of time, which means you're wasting a lot of money. Unless you're incredibly talented and can crap something out, like Dali.

  • @silvachristopher23 I don't think that's what he meant at all. In any case, what you're referring to is not drawing, but planning. Which is indeed part of the design process.

  • Even the most elaborate art must start with a sketch. I see so much technically superb zbrush art that is artistically woeful these days. There is nothing faster than drawing your ideas out and no better way of working proportion composition etc. Also 3d software is still very crude and technical but one day it will be entirely artistic then if you cant draw you will be in trouble.

  • why doesnt this have more views???

  • this is so true.
