@Andybaby yeah literally. there are variations but most people just use the kesa gatame name cause the japanese can get tough when you get down to the variations.
in the second it works better if you circle into him and arch your body instead of using arm power. Do you ever stick your right hand to your head like your resting to trap the other arm?
Less likely, but not "no." I have nailed countless guys with this move over the years, but it is fair to say that the third attack is a lower percentage attack. The attack is most successful if the guy on the bottom is hugging you with his hands clasped. It improves your ability to lock in the right angle and get the kimura.
have you ever tried grabbing the collar of the gi with your right hand palm up, and put your elbow into there chest and pin, it may be mean but people cannot breath, but if you are good with kesa u can probably already do that anyways
@haggle2007 this move becomes a lot more effective if you sink your hips and sag down.. it will feel unnatural as if your giving him room to escape but remember, your pulling the arm up, which is pushing the other arm down, its a big wrestler pin and when you do it like that you have better leverage to pull the elbow.
That was a nice three-step lockflow. Excellent positioning, but I bet it's hard as hell to get the Kesa Gatame in the first place. It's worth a shot, though. Thanks!
Doesn't Kesa Gatame mean having (in this case) your right arm around the opponents neck?

you can transition to this position from full side control fairly easy.

Also from passing the guard before they lock in the half-guard.
