  • the best music is the music that isnt so mainstream.

  • I play violin and saxaphone. My sister plays the guitar and a clarinet. I see you play the guitar. Do you play any other instruments?

  • I get around. I listen to blues, metal, alternative, rock, symphonic metal. I just cant understand why todays FAMOUS pop artists get all the fame. I've listened to pop before, i've liked it. The pop artists i cant stand are Lady Gaga and the such. I listen to Indica and the such, or S.U.N. Im a much bigger fan of european pop and techno. I dont hate pop, i just hate the ones that are more famous in the U.S.

  • ok guys i have righted chickens wrongs. I posted a comment on his page to bring him back here

  • @Xiones11 You didn't right my wrongs at all. You went on my page and belittled me which is essentially what I did here. We're the same.

    ;)

  • @Chickenjuggle You are compleatly correct in that anyone can learn to sing. But what you left out is being able to change the style of your singing to each song. Listen to her first song, then this one, then her tenth symphony, then tell me if you have ever heard any artist have that much of a change in their voice. Playing an instrument dosent take a genius, but most pop artists who are well known display a remarkable ability of never being able to pick up an instrument and play it.

  • @Xiones11 I checked out some other songs of hers, and her voice isn't really that different. Also, if you can learn to sing, you can learn to be diverse with your voice.

"Pop artists" like John Mayer or Lady Gaga have displayed remarkable instrumental abilities.

I don't really know why you have such a vendetta against "pop artists," but your gratuitous hatred for them makes you seem like a total asshole.

  • badass!!!!

  • Wow, a whole bunch of layered violin tracks and some singing with drums and bass. Big whoop.

  • @Chickenjuggle I'll save the typical youtube commenter rebuttal such as "let's see you do better", or something like that, and go straight to: "You're an idiot.".

  • @FatalShockKustom I'm not an idiot for stating a different opinion. You're an idiot for close-mindedly saying that I'm an idiot because I don't agree with you.

  • @Chickenjuggle Well, I suppose you're right. However, some of the greatest musical works of all time were also some of the simplest. You saying "Big Whoop" just seems to belittle this obviously talented girls original work. What would make it better, in your opinion?

  • @FatalShockKustom It'd be better if it weren't shitty.

  • @Chickenjuggle Saying this is shitty isn't an opinion. Saying you don't like it is an opinion. She is very talented, and if you can't see that, then you live a rough life, my friend.

  • @ferguson543 I never said "shitty" was an opinion. I was saying it objectively. Tell me where the talent is.

  • @Chickenjuggle You're a big fan of Kesha and Rebecca Black, aren't you?

  • @ferguson543 No, not really. I like Tik Tok, though. It's pretty fresh.

  • @Chickenjuggle tell me what i should write in the search bar that will direct me to "talent"

  • @bossman2440 Probably anything that isn't this, really.

  • @Chickenjuggle everywhere where modern artists fall flat. In creativity, in the ability to play an instrument, in intellegence seen in the way she dresses, in the time of the song, in the rare use of words to describe the mood of the music, in the ability to remain in one position through the entire song, in the ability to actually sing, in the ability to change her voice to match each of her songs. If you listen to all of her songs, her voice is never the same in any of them.THAT is where

  • @Xiones11…she's a modern artist.

If you want to be more pretentious with your taste, go ahead. However, just to let you know, it doesn't take a genius to play an instrument (nor does it to use a looping device), intelligence isn't accurately displayed by dress, and remaining in one position for a whole sone actually will often [unwillingly] convey discomfort while on stage. Also, anyone without emphysema can sing.

  • @Chickenjuggle oh god, im getting to much into utube arguments. You almost made me pull the which instrument is harder to play.......

    :(

  • @Xiones11 Which instrument is harder? Please, tell me. I'd love to hear this.

  • she is talented, THAT is where she is better then all modern artists.

  • Thanks for shooting this Goldberg!

  • I dunno how to put into words what I feel when I watch this. How about f@cking amazing, fantastical, mind blowing.

  • Now I must go make a solo sexy time. Yahhss.

  • This song is amazing... damn

  • those who disliked this have HAVE NO clue to what real music and talent is

  • @poetsprophet73

Those who disliked it, meant to hit the thumbs up.

  • her drummer is sick. bass player too its no joke

  • It's like someone looked at Bianca and Sierra from Cocorosie, sat for a moment and thought: well, why don't we just fit them both into one?

  • Every time she moves up the octave, the second time she sings, "fare thee well..." I get goosebumps. Astounding.

  • @PlayMadness Totally goosebumbs.

  • I love her voice!

  • This music is very smooth...

  • Incredible musicians!

  • as incredible as it sounds... I searched for this because of a fanfiction XD the author said this song matched the story... or something like that =p

I'm glad I looked for it!

  • @LoriToledo Same. |D

  • @TellingItLikeItIsSJM kuroshitsuji fanfiction, right? Lol

  • @LoriToledo Yup. Tenere from GoodbyeMyHeart.

  • @TellingItLikeItIsSJM Yeah. Yeah, me too. ;3;

  • @LoriToledo

Was it Kuroshitsuji fanfiction? If yes, I found this beautiful song by the same way you did.

  • @ romerieger...because she's gay. sorry man

  • thank you stumble upon for bringing me to this amazing music

  • Any girl that uses one of those microphones that i havent seen since i was like 6 is ok in my book

  • genia total. la amamos

  • It saddens and angers me to see that only ~31,000 views/people have seen this. It is music like this that everyone should know about, that should be out on the radio...

  • This makes me want to change my lifestyle. I should be an eccentric musician.

  • haha thats funny. stumble upon is how i found her too. i love her music.

  • Thank you stumble upon for letting me discover this art.

  • wow... that's weird. i first heard of stumble upon today, and this was the first thing that came up

  • @lostferlife101

    amen.

  • Amen!!! How could I be missing this stuff?????

  • @lostferlife101 same!

  • i like it :)

  • why is this girl not totally famous and winning artist of the year? because she deserves to be.

    incredible.

  • @crazyhomie67 ..why is this girl not pregnant with my kids? heartbreaking

  • @crazyhomie67 you dont understand the music industry. shes in the better place right now. this whole showbiz craze kills the soul of music.

  • The loops and the violin create a sense of despair, along with hope.

  • i want to marry her. swear.

  • best artist ive heard in a while, just heard her last nite on the carson daily show for the first time

  • to anyone that doubts how great she is

keep an eye on how she's able to keep track of each part

and then counters or doubles it.

this is a continuation of what les paul started with tape loops many years ago.

    rock on, darlin...

  • They're aren't many rock'n'roll wizards like you left, deenichols. All the others technicians with calculator foreheads and hearts that beat high-hats went into hiding when the phase vocoder allowed Paris Hilton to make the charts. In true rock style they muttered, "Fuck that Noise,' and went off to look for the largest stone they could crawl under 'til it was safe for good music again. Thanks for sticking around. Her voice is sinisterly sexy, like forgetting that tiger in your closet.

  • Reminds me strangely of Cocorosie? Mebes I'm just crazy~ Love it regardless!

  • I hear it, too. Just sometimes, just a little, but yeah-- there's an echo of CocoRosie in that voice.

  • yeah...thats who this keeps reminding meof.

  • I heard this song for the first time on KCRW and have been a fan every since... Thanks for the inspirational music Emily!!!

  • ah Emily, where would you be without your faithful looping board? Seriously though, that's some pretty amazing stuff. I guess looping is totally mainstream now and not as "loopy" as it once was. I still think it's more impressive to have friends do all the other parts, but this is still damn good.

I'm inspired to get a photoplayer and hit the stages and the studios!

  • Her voice remember Mallu Magalhães voice.

  • her voice remember Bjork's voice :)

  • True!!!!

  • Someone posted this a year ago on their web site. I looked and looked, and found it today. The voice, and the way it echooos.

    I am lucking can a full 0.

  • This is amazing. Her technique is perfect. Bravo. <3

  • It touches me so deep i feel tears in my eyes...

totally istant fan. from the moment a dear friend from milano played this very song for me.

    FANTASTICO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Instant fan, I'm going to hit the record ASAP and find some

  • I found Emily in the music section of LA Weekly and I'm so glad I did. I like to check out singer songwriters and always crave for them have something unique, this time was no exception. Great music by an artist doing it her own way. Hope to get the live and in person fix sometime soon.

  • her stuff reminds me of Portishead.

  • her voice reminds you of beth gibbons
