@rbratcherjr I believe I put up a message on a Usenet broadcast group rec.radio.broadcasting asking if anyone had leads or knew who to contact to get a tour of the facility, hence, I got a name and a telephone number. You can access it now through Google groups if you have a login account.
Gotta love the AC hum from those old transmitters. Tells you they are alive! I know these tube-and-iron monsters had their own personalities and they ran great when they behaved, and could give you all kinds of trouble when they misbehaved.
WOOOW! You can actually HEAR the RF being picked up by the camera, along with a little video interference! What a fantastic HUMMMMMMM by those old GE xmitters! LOVE ITT! Thanks for this!
Oh, thank you so much for this -- it brought back memories. My father worked there 1978-1990.

How did you get permission for your tour? I doubt you could do that today in 2011....

Now it is all being done by satellite.
One can frequently get an old dish for little or nothing.
Call some of the embassies around and they may give you a brand new outfit.

Is this facility still around ?? I know some VOA sites closed. All in the name of progress I guess. (Ho hum).

Yes, it still exists according to the conversation I just had with Carl Lineberger who took me on the tour. It is, however, closed down for standbye.
See end credits on part 5 of 5.
