at 32F with a high relative atmospheric pressure the speed of sound can be slowed down to as low as 580mph.

at 105F with a low atmospheric pressure it can be as fast as 920mph.

the typical "standard" is 758mph @ 72F @ 30.24bpin in with a humidity level of 45%

Even the amount of moisture in the air can affect the speed sound travels at, sound is not a constant and it is indeed relative to other factors.

Same as a normal rifle, except you should start close and work out farther. always remember different pellets may shoot higher or lower or tend to zing off to the left or right (especially super sonic pellets like i used in this vid) so your scope is really only sighted in for a particular round, and you'll need to readjust for each load your shooting.

And damn, if its a springer, pick up a 1 piece mount because 2 piece rings will never stay aligned for more then a dozen shots.

@ganymedeIV4, you do not need a one piece mount. However, you may need to upgrade the rings, but most times the ones that comes with the rifle will work fine. Use the rear set screw. If you rifle doesn't have a hole to accept the set screw, drill the correct size hole. I personally recommend using the iron sights to start with. I've yet to purchase a rifle that I didn't have to adjust the iron sights to my liking. Zeroing a scope is very easy. Super Sonic Pellets?

That's actually just a spare Co2 canister, a 1" scope ring will hold a Co2 canister. it's just mounted upside down on the dovetail rail (where you usually put flash lights or lasers on pistols)

@1294530jc Not if he's using non-lead ammunition. The weight goes way down with lead substitute ammo and the velocity goes way up. Every shot he fired was also breaking the sound barrier, which is at least 100 feet if not more (depends on elevation) above 1000 ft/sec. The penalty is lower muzzle energy.

people dont usually compare air guns to real guns, but this air gun actually has a higher fps than a high velocity .22 caliber, which is about 1250

So like a .22 Short with 12 grain probably about 840fp. But a .22 Magnum 40 grain can shoot in excess of 2200fps depending on the rifle/pistol used (semi autos and revolvers shoot slower compared to sealed firearms like bolt action or lever action rifles)

But a airgun has a lot lower impact energy compared to a firearm, and that is what really counts!

Get a good .22 and a silencer, better then any air rifle you will ever have. That's what I use, and it works wonders and is quieter than an air rifle.

@ganymedeIV4 - I only use .22 longs, I have 3 .22's, a Cooey bolt action, a Remington pump and I can't remember what the last one is and I have the silencer on the Cooey. Yes, I know the laws about discharging firearms within city limits, I never said I shot within city limits. Wherever you shoot though, its nice to have something quiet, even on a farm. As for acquiring it, it was given to me by a relative in the UK when I visited.

but that's just me. and judgin' by your comment history your just roamin around youtube talking about having a .22 with a silencer.... (correct term is a suppressor btw, silencers deal with baffles in the action of the firearm and are a internal kit you buy, and not something you stick on the end of the barrel)
