@ngimangi Don't listen to asmodeus272. Aborigines have always been here, since time began. Evolution is a lie, but magic is to get Aborigines believe they haven't. To beat invaders is to understand their alchemy; read Hobbes, Rousseau,+ Bible. God gave man full dominion over the earth, this includes full liability. Like I say to my brother, only human beings create value; money just a piece of paper. Sadly, Aborigines are Aborigines' worst enemies. Declare yourself a nation/nations.
To all white people giving this video racist comments, there is gonna be a time when we white people are going to be asking, no pleading the aboriginals and all tribal nations to lead us back to their ways. We white people, the way we are heading are going to kill this earth so shut up,listen to the music, and think these aboriginals are the ones who treated this earth with the most respect, blessing and loving every creature.
kind of ironic they are talking about peace when one of the band members kicked a person in the head and they died and another member stabbed and killed someone and then killed himself. The the lead singer had to have a transplant due to chronic alcoholism Yeah Yothu Yindi are soooooo much an inspiration for the aboriginals
It's heartening to read the positive comments here and overwhelmingly they are positive. A generation ago they'd have struggled to have their voices heard, let alone taken seriously amid a barrage of racist invective. Today the ignorant, the hateful, the heartless, the loveless are the ones on the back foot. And with our vigilance it will stay that way. Treaty? Yeah! Why the fuck not?

..I am proud to be Aboriginal..and Australian...I didn't find out till I was a lot older, that I was Aboriginal..(Wiradjuri Tribe-the largest tribe)..and I feel so very proud..I think that if the 'White Man' (me) hadn't come along..it would have been another Nationality (think about it)..and it could have been worse..There are some of us left..Alcohol is poison to Aboriginal, due to the purity of Bloodline..They just don't 'handle' it..If only there was no alcohol..sigh.. POISON...to everyone!!..

@BCSimm1978 I agree, and being 4th generation born in this country i am proud to Australian. Alot have lost touch with what it is to be Australian, we are becoming way too Americanised and losing touch of both the Original land owners (Aboriginal, because im not going to list each and every tribe, sorry) and white Australia (Including our own background, which isn't all to be be proud of, but there is also alot to be proud of).
@BCSimm1978 Nah it's no older than any other culture. Don't believe the bullshit artists called Paleontologiests, they are just taking guesses like children scratching at the ages of time
Is it only me who notices this is not the version I heard of the radio from the 90's to today? This is quite literally the original. As for the debate on the aboriginals...why you having it here? I'm just here for the Australian music...whatever though.
jut finished my 10 page essay on how Australia developed as a country. this song holds so much more meaning now that i get exactly why the aboriginals are treated the way they are.
@peeboishere I agree mate, but the aborigines have no cultural tolerance for alcohol so it affects them badly. I was not referring to all of them, just the ones in the territory camps. Also, you are aware that they were shot out of hand by the thousands back then. The miserable cunts back then have no excuse for their actions at all . Supplying them with alcohol is one of the smallest of their sins and they knew very well how alcohol affected them. It does not take a rocket scientist to see!
@TheZacdes Mate, of coarse they knew, maybe not instantly, but it became obvious very quickly. It suited their purposes to keep them down and drunk, when they were"nt slaving their guts out, of coarse!CONTROL mate!! It did"nt take a fortune teller, just some astute observation!
Sadly people are not listening to the theme of the song for reconciliation. Whatever shade of colour, no person should bear the sins of their past ancestors. And no one in the present is to blame for the past, simple.
It's pretty sad that Australians don't even understand or know the true history of their own country. Of course the oppressive governments around the world have to keep their populations in ignorance i.e. America, New Zealand........ Those who have made their fortunes from the theft of others. I would strongly suggest reading the Papal Bulls to understand how Christianity was used to justify slavery, rape and pillaging. Try to actually understand the language, don't read the translations.
just wish the words spoken in this song would be reality.... too much booze.. too much viloence..... im a WHITE Aussie and just wish the ENTIRE aborigional race would get it together and be admired rather then frowned upon... in a sense they are ending up like the indians in america... sad :(
@fordy1984 who the fuck says tis the wrong way, U? its ur ways that have fucked nations, trying to assimilate aboriginal peoples the world over...get it right white eye!

@OszolomyPajace ha ha - grow the fuck up. Be thankful it was the British who arrived and not the Chinese as the Aboriginals would only be a couple of lines in a history book.
god there are some ignorant racist fools on this thread. Benjidorn first and foremost. Cretin. Are you evil or just stupid or both. If someone else invadees aust I assume yu'll concede their rights to take your property? Thought not. Racist. .
@dm3830 "clap of hands to this one"!!! Australians, (well not all) have gotta be some of the most racist mutts alive, thinking their aussies where in fact their foreigners to the land...they all spout out of the mother land of the British Empire...get back there I say!
@iroam57 What a racist comment, not only are you a fool for assuming all white people who call this land home are from Britain, but you wish to expel people who have as much right to this land as anyone else.
The indingenous population are just as wrong as white settlers when they say they own the land.
They were first here and good luck to them in believing their legends of being born from the dust and life from within the land, but their ancestors were from asia. There has only been human life on our continent for 50,000 years.
So where did the current indigenous people's ancestors worship?
Also I hate the word aboriginal. It is a generic term of insult
@ryanthesound they are lucky that the first settlers didn't wipe them out, if they wanted to keep their homeland they should have invented something better than the boomerang to protect it.
@benjidorn Actually, it was the first settlers' fault for being complete assholes. Your argument seems to suggest that it was alright to conduct a genocide on the Aborigines and take their land away simply because they didn't have the right technology - that's stupid and is insanely dog-eat-dog as well as fatalistic. It's like saying that since they were peaceful and had relatively little contact with outsiders, they had it coming.
@Dzongka back then that could have happened it was a dogs world then, Aboriginals also didn't come from the land they are from just above Australia so it's really not there land also, so the first settlers had a right to occupy the land just as the Aboriginals did. Our government have given the Aboriginalsalot of bebfits, they don't work but the Government gives them money, actually more than some people that are working.
@salko55 i cant really make out what your saying but i think your asking if non indigenous Australians get government benefits? If so yes they do, but they have to do alot more for it and it's less than what the indigenous people get.
@XeenDJ If that is supposed to be some sort of racial thing towards the indigenous then you sir are a prejudice weiner, they are the true owners of the great Australian land...theres something wrong with you.
Anyone who is saying that Indigenous ppl need to 'get over it' are ignorant and completely misinformed.Get informed and stop accepting media stereotyping and sensationalism. When u say it is the "past" - it was almost 250 yr ago - not too long ago at all. Yes, invasion and colonisation occurred then but the government is STILL upholding colonising practices albiet in a more subtle way. It is white mans problem, it always has been. I'm a non-indigenous Aussie and am embarrassed to be one at times
i discovered this music when i was a kid,i didn't even know where australia was,i still enjoy it!best regards to all people of good will in australia.
@SSbull900 I would agree but it can't all be us reaching out. Keep in mind these days many aboriginal communities WANT to be seperate from white society. They need to start reaching back out to us too. They're holding a grudge against just white Australians when two of the bigger culprits for the early conflicts were Britain and the churches.
get a fucking job stop spunging of the goverment!!! im sick of this cunt's crying about the past they where not liveing at the time so get over it!!!!!
@wogboy1705 Anyone who is saying that Indigenous ppl need to 'get over it' are ignorant n completely misinformed.Get informed and stop accepting media stereotyping and sensationalism. When u say it is the "past" - it was almost 250 yr ago-not too long ago at all. Yes,invasion and colonisation occurred then but the government is STILL upholding colonising practices albiet in a more subtle way. Its white mans problem, it always has been.I'm a non-indigenous Aussie and am embarrassed to be at times
@wogboy1705 Their past directly effects every indigenous Australian, their dispossesion of their lands and utter defeat at the hands of white settlers is something that has left a certain stigma attatched to aboriginals.
Every other migrant comes to this country and ripps into social security so why you so mad that aboriginals whom have EVERY RIGHT TO the benefits of a country that was once THEIRS?
If you dont like them then go back to your own fucking shitbox nation.
@KMcombine Actually most people on welfare are usually white lower class Australian born here minus aboriginals. Sadly warfare is a strong part of human culture, just happened the British Empire came to Australia.
@iamborat100 IN fact, you are partially right, the state of the aborigine is sad, hearded into camps in the northern territory, treated like children, sad but left alone, alcohol, which is banned to them[white men smuggle it in anyway] is very damaging to them as they have no cultural resistance to it, they do terrible things when drunk,i wont say what, very sad, the government and bloody britian have a lot to answer for!!! and they are ALL on welfare, which all goes for alcohol!!
@TheZacdes you know when europeans started using the aboriginals for labor, they actually paid them in alcohol? No one knew what would happen at the time, they're not bloody fortune tellers. And not all aboriginal people do bad things when drunk, people always see drunk aboriginals and assume the worst. People of every background can do bad things when they're drunk, anyone would be a fool to say different.
@iamborat100 thanks for putting it into perspective, some people don't quite realise that aboriginal australians, make only a small part of the general population of australia that live off the dole.
@KMcombine I appreciate what you are saying. But to say go back to your own ^*&*(*&*) country, is racist too. Please don't give us Aussies a bad name. I understand what you are thinkinge, but people think we r racist already, please don't make it worse. The consequences of the whole world hating us are just too bad.
@KMcombine I appreciate what you are trying to say. But please don;t tell people to go back to your own *&*&%$% nation as people already think us Aussies are racist, don't make it worse. Please, the consquences of the whole world hating us are just so bad.. Please be a bit more careful
@KMcombine Please don't tell other people to go back to there own countries and leave our beautiful Island home. People think Aussies are racist already, don't make it worse. But i understand you love your country and simply got a bit agitated when it was insulted. But please show some restraint.
@KMcombine Please don't tell people to leave our Island Home and go back to their countries. That just makes u as racist as anyone else. We Aussies gotta give Australia a good image! =D !!
I am so proud to have aboriginality as part of my nations history I think Australia has the most beautiful indigenous culture of any country ... at the same time im majority caucasian, born here generations later and i think that white or aboriginal we cant choose where we are born and we all deserve the same rights ... what happened hundreds of yrs ago is disgusting but i dont think anyone regardless of colour or race deserves anything more than someone else ... so totally agree with comments
@TheNickhello I hope you realize who creates IQ tests and for whom they are created. Although after reading your sad and pathetic comments, I'm sure you are a hopeless case even within your own society. Fortunately, according to Darwin's Theory of Natural Selection, your way of thinking means you will most likely be run over by a car or meet a terrible accident that will render you unable to reproduce. :)
THIS IS THE MUSIC l AM TAKING WITH ME AFTER LIVING HERE 24 YEARS ,,,,THIS SOUNDS LIKE AUSTRALIA TO ME ,,,MET SOME INCREDIBLE PEOPLE WHILE i TRAVELLED THIS LAND ,,
@TheNickhello No, the Indigenous Australian nations are the longest surviving human cultures in the world. Prior to colonisation, they had their own economic system, were multilingual and developed a deep spiritual connection with the land. Clearly, you are from the South to say something as racist and uneducated as that....
@TheLilyCrimson BAHAHA own economic system in 40,000 years they had developed a boomerang and that is about it even the boomerang was seen on the mongoloids suggesting they got the idea from them clearly you know nothing lol.
@TheNickhello The Indigenous nations practiced complex economics and trading, assisted through the use of 'message sticks.' Backburning was also practiced by the Indigenous Australians and is now used to prevent forest/bush fires in Europe, Australia...and, yes, even the United States. They also had clear 'boundaries' between nations which suggests that they had developed an understanding of "property" prior to the prehistoric cultures in Europe. Anyway, I'll let you get fried by others on this
@TheLilyCrimson i hope you realize thats like 2 things and if you look up the average IQ's of the different races aboriginals are the 2nd lowest just above bushmen and pygmy, thats right folks aboriginals have an avg IQ of 62 or something LOLLLLL they're heaps smart
Such a moving song with great rhythm and lyrics. I recently watched a film about the Black Arm Band who write songs with similar messages. It was just incredible! I recommend it to anyone who likes this music. Maybe these racist buggers on here should watch it for a wake-up call?
We who reside in Australia, are we not ALL Australian? Whether you are from another country or Aboriginal, this is your country too! To those who come here, I welcome you with open arms! For we are a multi cultural society which is what makes me proud to be an aussie, because most Accept anyone, for the person they are not because of where they are from.

No one owns land you idiots.
It is a generic term of insult

franciscobarril 7 months ago
@franciscobarril because most of them are a strain on society not all but most
benjidorn 6 months ago
@benjidorn Ha, strain on society? It's their society really, not exactly fair to say that indeginous owners are a burden in their own homeland.
ryanthesound 6 months ago
@ryanthesound they are lucky that the first settlers didn't wipe them out, if they wanted to keep their homeland they should have invented something better than the boomerang to protect it.
benjidorn 6 months ago
@benjidorn Actually, it was the first settlers' fault for being complete assholes. Your argument seems to suggest that it was alright to conduct a genocide on the Aborigines and take their land away simply because they didn't have the right technology - that's stupid and is insanely dog-eat-dog as well as fatalistic. It's like saying that since they were peaceful and had relatively little contact with outsiders, they had it coming.
Dzongka 6 months ago
@Dzongka back then that could have happened it was a dogs world then, Aboriginals also didn't come from the land they are from just above Australia so it's really not there land also, so the first settlers had a right to occupy the land just as the Aboriginals did. Our government have given the Aboriginalsalot of bebfits, they don't work but the Government gives them money, actually more than some people that are working.
benjidorn 6 months ago
@benjidorn, true hey get paid, so do get paid noneaboriginals as well if they dont work or they are low incomers,..
salko55 6 months ago
@salko55 i cant really make out what your saying but i think your asking if non indigenous Australians get government benefits? If so yes they do, but they have to do alot more for it and it's less than what the indigenous people get.

I'm a non-indigenous Aussie and am embarrassed to be one at times

distrojer85 8 months ago
@SSbull900 I would agree but it can't all be us reaching out. Keep in mind these days many aboriginal communities WANT to be seperate from white society. They need to start reaching back out to us too. They're holding a grudge against just white Australians when two of the bigger culprits for the early conflicts were Britain and the churches.

hindy90 8 months ago 2
@wogboy1705 Their past directly effects every indigenous Australian, their dispossesion of their lands and utter defeat at the hands of white settlers is something that has left a certain stigma attatched to aboriginals.
Every other migrant comes to this country and ripps into social security so why you so mad that aboriginals whom have EVERY RIGHT TO the benefits of a country that was once THEIRS?
If you dont like them then go back to your own fucking shitbox nation.

Dzongka 6 months ago
@KMcombine Actually most people on welfare are usually white lower class Australian born here minus aboriginals. Sadly warfare is a strong part of human culture, just happened the British Empire came to Australia.
iamborat100 4 months ago
@iamborat100 IN fact, you are partially right, the state of the aborigine is sad, hearded into camps in the northern territory, treated like children, sad but left alone, alcohol, which is banned to them[white men smuggle it in anyway] is very damaging to them as they have no cultural resistance to it, they do terrible things when drunk,i wont say what, very sad, the government and bloody britian have a lot to answer for!!! and they are ALL on welfare, which all goes for alcohol!!
TheZacdes 4 months ago
@TheZacdes you know when europeans started using the aboriginals for labor, they actually paid them in alcohol? No one knew what would happen at the time, they're not bloody fortune tellers. And not all aboriginal people do bad things when drunk, people always see drunk aboriginals and assume the worst. People of every background can do bad things when they're drunk, anyone would be a fool to say different.
peeboishere 3 months ago
@iamborat100 thanks for putting it into perspective, some people don't quite realise that aboriginal australians, make only a small part of the general population of australia that live off the dole.

TheNickhello 8 months ago
@TheNickhello No, the Indigenous Australian nations are the longest surviving human cultures in the world. Prior to colonisation, they had their own economic system, were multilingual and developed a deep spiritual connection with the land. Clearly, you are from the South to say something as racist and uneducated as that....
TheLilyCrimson 8 months ago
@TheLilyCrimson BAHAHA own economic system in 40,000 years they had developed a boomerang and that is about it even the boomerang was seen on the mongoloids suggesting they got the idea from them clearly you know nothing lol.
TheNickhello 8 months ago
@TheNickhello The Indigenous nations practiced complex economics and trading, assisted through the use of 'message sticks.' Backburning was also practiced by the Indigenous Australians and is now used to prevent forest/bush fires in Europe, Australia...and, yes, even the United States. They also had clear 'boundaries' between nations which suggests that they had developed an understanding of "property" prior to the prehistoric cultures in Europe. Anyway, I'll let you get fried by others on this
TheLilyCrimson 8 months ago
@TheLilyCrimson i hope you realize thats like 2 things and if you look up the average IQ's of the different races aboriginals are the 2nd lowest just above bushmen and pygmy, thats right folks aboriginals have an avg IQ of 62 or something LOLLLLL they're heaps smart
