Thank you for the video. I have a Janome machine with a front loading bobbin just like this. There is a metal half circle that the bobbin sits on but it came out and doesn't want to just "snap" back into place. There is also a metal piece that fits over the bobbin if I could ever get it all to snap together, I am sure nothing is broken, I am just not mechanically minded.

Could you please help me? I do exactly what you're telling us to do, but there's no loop comming up whilde threading the underthread. It's only going to wrap in that spoolcase but nothing is comming up. It's becoming entangled... Could you help me please? :)
@DauwXelfje Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. First, ensure your sewing machine needle is the right way around. Its easily done but can be put in the wrong way around. Secondly, make sure the bobbin case / spool is pushed fully into the machine. You should here a loud click. You may also want to check that you have threaded the spool / bobbin case correctly, making sure the thread is loaded properly. Hope that helps a little.

@Mookho1 Hi. It really is all about personal preference but I promise you if you take the time to learn these techniques, you can achieve so much more.
i got my missing part from argos and after 3 weeks of trying to understand the instructions that came with the machine :/ i came back here, did as your vid showed and yay im sewing any thing and every thing i can find to practice on lol thanx vid is great help!!!

After threading the machine you have 2 threads lying on top. Where do you keep them once you start sewing? Do you keep them back by moving the fabric backwards?
@helenevienna Simply push / move both threads to the back of the machine. They may move forward as you move fabric around so before sewing, always make sure that the threads are repositioned at the back.

I'm a mega mega beginner. I can't even thread. My manual says to hold the end of the thread while threading the spool (so I can find it after threading?), but the machine keeps pulling it out of my hand. I see you don't even hold the thread while threading. If I don't hold it then the end of the thread always gets lost underneath the tight threading on the spool :(
@helenevienna Thanks for the question. In short, forget the manual! There is no need to keep the end of the tread visible once the spool has been loaded with thread. Simply wrap the thread by hand around the spool several times (firmly) then press the foot to your machine so it takes over and fully loads your spool. Let me know how you go.
It worked, but only because I noticed a tiny hole in the spool where I could stick the end of the thread. The manual never told me :'( But you were right, I can just let the thread swing around the spool with the rest of the thread.
The threading of the spool was the only thing that I'd done right in the entire installation, I think, only because it was the first step I could remember from your video... Dear God...

Thanks for this video. I could never figure put what I was doing with the bottom spool. I had upside down. Had a question. When I lower the needle it is catching the tread any suggestions.
@sandra666 The needle is supposed to catch the bobbin thread which creates a loop. This thread should be pulled through and placed to the back of the machine. If your needle is catching the plate itself, then the alignment may be out so the machine needs to be reset by a sewing machine repair shop. It may just need a service. Haha! Thanks! I had a sewing machine my mother bought me years and years ago. A very fancy several-footed thing that could sew through leather. I tried so many times... I never figured out how to thread it, even with the instruction book. Forget changing feet! I wish there had been YouTube back then! I'm about to buy a basic sewing machine later tonight, so I'm glad this is here.

You turn the handwheel to bring the upper thread around that hook. Is that necessary? Can't you bring it around without moving it up?
What's scary is that my manual tells me to put the thread through the "eye" of that useless hook. I have no idea what I'm doing :)

It's not a spool...its a bobbin. A bobbin can be clear or metal depending how new or old is the machine
