I will contribute to the bailout fund if Henry (Hank) Paulson — U.S. Treasury Secretary, former Goldman Sachs CEO, and all-around bald guy ponies up the $200 million in capital gains tax he was exempt from having to pay. It seems Hank made a bundle from 2003 to 2006 and did not have to show Uncle Sam the money. I made around $17,776 during the same period and though I have already paid Uncle Sam, I would cough in a few more bucks if Hank throws up, err in, his $200 million.

There should be a standard contract that corporations would have to agree to, apart from any protective legislation, in order to be able to do business with consumers. If a credit card company wants you to open up an account, they would have to agree to your terms...not just contracts that their in-house counsel draw up. If we were to do this as a class, the corporations would have no choice but to yeild. If you notice on many corporate contracts, they strip your rights to trial by jury.

There's a major flaw in Nader's argument: all they had to do was let the banks fail. Do that and you don't need socialism, since the system is naturally self-correcting. The market works if you let it. Indeed, Nader readily admits that markets don't work when socialism saves businesses that fail.
dlix is right: socialism by its nature is built around preventing risk or dealing with the unknown. As such, it is extremely poor at creating capital or innovation.

Nader is a smart guy who deserves a lot of credit and gratitude for his consumer advocacy. The problem is that he is a one-trick pony who has never held public office. I question his electability. I was at the rally in Morgantown from where this video was recorded. I really appreciate that Ralph Nader and his campaign didn't preselect the questioners. I went to an Elizabeth Edwards town hall meeting back in 2004, and they called on certain people to ask questions. At this Nader rally, people were given an opportunity to get in line and ask whatever they wanted to ask. That shows a lot of class, in my opinion. I hope that my question about workers compensation will get posted here.

Private investment have been around for centuries. People could save for their own retirement for centuries. Social security is a fairly new thing when people finally realized that the stock market is just a casino, there's a lot of cheating.
So put the money in social security and tell wall street figure out their own problems with their brilliant greedy minds. Why should a poor minimum wager pay welfare to a rich criminal ?

The Cartel LENDS money into existence to anyone it wants. IT got money for nothing. IT collects interest on all money.
A sovereign nation SPENDS money into existence on things needed by its people without debt or interest, like greenbacks Lincoln issued.

Then why didn't he win? If he was really the corrupted evil politician you pretend he is, he would have won. You are so paranoid that you have turned on your only way out. The gold standard would force the government to give us our "credit" dollars worth in gold. It would not drive us all to $0. This all depends on the way it is inacted. Take off your tinfoil hat.

the root of all problems in the states is ignorance (IMHO)and Nader is the antidote for that. Nader is an intelligent, wise person with great qualities that a successful leader needs
