Honoring God with your body was a command from Paul to the Corinthians, and it was referring to sexual immorality. Tattoos were seen as immoral back in those days because they would mark their dead with them, practicing pagan tradition.

I think God looks at our intent and the condition of our hearts. Many people, in Latin America especially, have tattoos of Jesus and other biblical symbols and they are very beautiful.
Shiningcross has a point but if people someone says but the makeup comes off and it doesnt hurt, then say why do they pluck/ whacks their eyebrows and leg hair. That hurts too but they get that done like every month or even less than that tattoo is a one time pain thing.
