  • A mishap here and there so what 1000s of lives saved thumbs up..

  • the loss of this lifeboat was caused by a completely incompetent crew, going in to dangerously shallow water with their stern on to the prevailing forces, to "rescue persons ALREADY STANDING ON DRY LAND". Complete and utter incompetence, no other word for it. One appreciates that these people are volunteers, but is it ego massage that drives them I wonder?.

  • personally think 'TheLordMilton' needs to do a little research before i once again rises up on his mighty horse and dictates the use of his taxes..... So STOP BEING A PLEB and get your facts right!! Your taxes have nothing to do with the RNLI, yes to do with the HM Coast Guard, but NOT the RNLI.

  • is that the Sligo helicopter? I'm sure the BBC would have wanted this footage at the time.

  • yes its from sligo

  • Bad bit of water out at Rathlin, very brave men indeed.Keep up the good work and look after yourselves.

  • @Bigirishcunt

Brave men and women, the Portrush lifboat has or had at that time a female volunteer, Kelly Allen

don't think she was on the boat that night. Bless them all.

  • dunbar's boat lost to .......shame

  • These boats are manned by highly trained and unpaid volunteer crews who put to sea in all conditions with the one goal of saving lives . The boats are paid for by donations and fund raising . It costs the tax payer nothing . The government has nothing to do with the running of the RNLI , and thats the way we want to keep it . Very easy to critical from an armchair !

  • @gragooda ......The boats are paid for by donations and fund raising . It costs the tax payer nothing ,

'Are you a complete idiot ?

If it costs the tax[payer nothing ? why do we pay tax's on our wages , simpleton . No doubt your just a do-gooder and full of kryptonite.

  • @gragooda Well said that man. My Dad was 2nd Coxwain for many years on our lifeboat. My Mum said the weather was so bad one night they put to see the wives were throwing fags and apples onboard as they thought they'd never see them again. Too many armchair admirals about.

  • Think people are picking this fella up wrong.

  • @NEWDEAL01 ...Shut up .

  • Nope both boats still there and wind / sea increasing all the time

  • @michaelrathlin .....Really ?

  • waz watcin this on the news earlier.. did they get it moved yet ??
