Since the roasts were on NBC, it seems an awful lot of NBC "stars" were on them. These were good but definitely middle-agers tv, even back then. you never saw the REAL big stars of the time on these, just 60s/50s leftovers.

It took me years to realize how "un-funny" these Roasts actually were. I love all these people., but this clearly shows how different times were back then. People were amused at the simplest of things.. PS. Dean Martin is one of my heroes and I listen to his music all the time. Best comedy ever, I once in a while dip into these old funny shows, nowadays you can hear the "shit" on basic cable History channel. America has a problem watching a breast flop out and it makes headlines, but when you have pics of Adm. Cadaffi being murdered on via telephone video, the world says it's ok...I don't get it. It seemed as if the humor of his jokes were disproportionate to the effort he put in them, as if he tried too hard and came up short. It's just my own opinion. Now Dean was a riot.
