I've loved this wonderful piece of classical music ever since I heard it in the movie Shine as a child.

I'm not religious myself, but there's no denying that the meaning of the lyrics themselves are beautiful.

@Gargantou same here! i was nine or ten when i saw the movie, and it will always be one of my favorites. and i am not religious (at least not in a christian sense) either, but i think the lyrics are lovely. more importantly, of course, the melody is just exquisite -- no words. i still get chills, even after all these years. i do love the elly ameling version the best, though.
