@radiomysterVTC He showed complete possession and completed a football move for a reasonable amount of time after the catch. I know what you're saying, but it wouldn't have.

@flightofthetallguy Tom Brady isn't even the best quarterback playing today bro. Another ass spanking at the hands of probably the Ravens in their own backyard might finally help you see the light.
Brady is a very good quarterback but he's not even as good or masterful as Peyton Manning. Aaron Rodgers is on Brady's level already. You sound like your way too young to be in this discussion anyway ... Does Dan Marino mean anything to you? LOL
@Radioblood how many ints did peyton throw last year? people forgot about how bad peyton did last year and now hes hurt and their losing without him... peytons good but tom brady is better and dan marino does mean something.. the only other qb to go undefeated... but tom brady has more records that strictly show how legendary he is
@flightofthetallguy To start with, Manning had no running game last year. The Colts are aging and so is their offensive line. This says little about Manning as a quarterback. Is this all you've got?
The 1972 Dolphins went undefeated. Dan Marino was 11 years old then.
Nice dude LOL Just stop embarrassing yourself bro. Have a good one ...
@Radioblood my bad about marino but brady beat all his records so it doesnt matter..... and i said manning threw alot of interceptions, that doesnt involve running its throwing and didnt even have that many pass tds so manning throwing pics does say something saying hes becoming inconsistent........... STOP EMBARRASSING YOURSELF LOLOLOLOL
@flightofthetallguy Dude ... did you just start following football or something? You don't pass the ball nearly as well as when you have a running game. Brady plays in a watered down NFL where cornerbacks can't engage like they did when studs like Marino, Elway, Aikman, Montana played.
Please don't bother responding because I'm betting money you're no more than 10 years old based on both your typing skills and complete misunderstanding of football.
@flightofthetallguy tom brady never went undefeated, brett favre has all the records, and the 72 dolphins went 17-0, marino came in in 83. you know nothing about football, because if you did, you would know that tom brady is not in the top 3 qbs, its joe montana, dan marino and john elway. no conversation needed, this is fact, elway is number 3 and its stats vs rings for number 1
@Terry41172 patriots went 18-0 then supeer bowl.... tom brady is t5he whole team with out him they would be nothing elway, marino and montana werent a 1 man team
@flightofthetallguy the more you talk, the more we realize that you are extremely stupid and know jack shit about football. first of all, the pats were 18 and 1. 18-1 does not equal undefeated. two, that year the patriots were proven to be cheaters, plus he had randy moss to throw to and still could'nt win the superbowl. and three, tom brady is not a one man team. all three super bowls the pats had tedy bruschi, mike vrabel, rodney harrison who were defensive beasts
@flightofthetallguy brady never put up the numbers that manning and favre and marino had until 2007, he never had more than 30 tds before that. while that is solid, it doesnt compare to them, then again they had somewhat of a running game then. and does it really matter if a qb is a one man team? while montana was definetly not marino and elway sure were, which is why they had trouble winning the big one.... i suggest u stop playing madden, do some research and come into the real world.
@Terry41172 ur the one playing madden!!! TOM BRADY WON 3 SUPERBOWLS BEFORE 2007!!!! 2 back to back!! you havent done research yourself when tom brady has hadf more ccareer tds then manning and more superbowls!!2 manning only has 1!!! dont tell me todo research when you obviouslly dont know tom brady at all
@flightofthetallguy hmmmm nothing? lets see deion branch, wes welker bruschi vrabel vinetieri the coach willie mcginist troy brown yep has beens. Stop with the brady didnt have weapons , that defense alone took 2 superbowls from manning. Most overrated player in history. He is good , but stop with the he got no weapons, sound ignorant and like a nfl network subscriber.
@jdthebooster my mom and grandma, bro. I'm just happy that since the niners were so good this year, we don't have to dwell on the past. I feel really bad for Kyle Williams, he got something like 5000 death threats.
I hate that this is so hyped up as such a great catch. He jumps up and catches it. No big deal. Also the Willy Mays over the shoulder catch is so hyped. It was a nice catch but guess what, I did the same thing when I was 11.
@doowoppingchainsawer well obviously u dont realize that he caught it with his finger tips and Joe Montana whose not that tall was being chased by two 6'6 guys who were insanley hard hitters. And also u seem to not realize they went to the super bowl that year after that. And the only thing u caught were eleven were guys
@nukefart1 I know it was a fingertip catch but you see five a game in every game. And I know the importance of the catch as far as it taking them to the Super Bowl. I didn't say it wasn't an important play. It just wasn't that good of a catch. He just caught it. What about Lynn Swann's toes inbounds catch in the Super Bowl? It wasn't a touchdown so it doesn't make the tops but it was a far better catch in every way.
@nextrevolutionfilms1 No I'm a Steeler fan. In fact, the Cowboys are my least favorite team in the league and my second least favtorite team in all of sports, the Yankees being the least. He caught the ball. Two handed. Nobody fighting him for the ball. I've seen it a million times.
@doowoppingchainsawer I've seen the willie mays catch happen at least ten different times the past two years, I agree that it's overrated. But what makes the play so memorable isn't necessarily an incredible catch but that it was the final play of the game against a big rival and Montana had to roll away from two or three big Dallas defenders and make a bullet to Clark.
As a diehard Bronco fan I have always said that Montana is clearly the best of all time. What have the Pats won since spy-gate. ESPN likes to suck Patriots cock.
To those who believe Brady is better than Montana was: I'm not gonna throw Spygate in your face cuz the whole world knows about it, but remember one thing, Brady might have better numbers in reg season but the main number is 4-0 with 0 Ints in Superbowls for Joe, while beating two of the greatest QBs ever to play: Elway n Marino
Montana is without a doubt the best QB in history. Followed, in my opinion, by manning. I mean, look at the colts this year. The only star they don't have is manning and they're winless. If Aaron Rodgers wasn't in god mode this year, I'd vote Manning MVP.
@paranormal17 You're wrong in saying "the only star they don't have is manning"
Peyton is the only one on that team worthy of being called a star. It's become very clear that the only reason the colts did well was because of how dominant of a quarterback he is, not because the rest of his team is anything special. Just imagine him on a team with star players.
great play... but i just see spygate in the comments section and it pisses me off. every team does it pats were the only one caught, and ur dumb if u think it had anything to do with their superbowl wins. thats just an excuse bitter colts fans use to get over the fact that manning has only led them to one superbowl
Not a colts fan, but I speak for most of the NFL Fans when I say this. Belichick used spygate from 2000-2007 when got caught, true other teams did as well but not to the extent of Belichick as the whistleblower Matt Walsh said when Belichick had the oppossing teams walk through recorded.
If you know the oppossing teams signals you know their play & that will help you as a Team, where is the other team going to pass, run, what kind of Defense. It helps when you know your opposing team is doing.
@gfscarface13 first off imma steelers fan and bill only used it in 2007 and got caught wayyy before the tapes were ever used stop spreadin crap thats not true i dont like brady but he won those fair and square
@gfscarface13 damn someones getting touchy. first off im pretty sure teams did the same thing so getoff his dick second he was caught in 07 and no one had enough evidence stating he used it before that time. be a good bitch and go back to the kitchen
@gfscarface13 you big denial person? Really? You've talked to some "knowledgeable patriots fans"? Really? Who were they, some couch potatoes that have no lives? This comment is full of fail, and sounds like it's really by a 5 year old.
@gfscarface13 Ummm..get a life man....it's just Football, not anything REALLY important in life. You're just as bad as those stupid Hispanics and Europeans with their soccer. GET A LIFE!
What are you, a former Penn State shower boy? Did you drop the soap?
@gfscarface13 "This is exactly how I was told to do it 18 years ago by a Kansas City Chiefs scout. I tried it, but I didn't think it helped us. Bill Belichick was wrong because he videotaped signals after a memo was sent out to all of the teams. What irritates me is hearing reactions from players/coaches. Some of the coaches have selective amnesia, because I know for a fact there were various teams doing this. That doesn't make Belichick right, but a lot of teams are doing this." - Jimmy Johnson
@gfscarface13 I hated belichick before spygate with that stupid crusty worn out sweart shirt he always wears. then when spy gate came out, it gave me even more reason to hate him and the Pats. I hope the niners take them on and smash em. plus that whole tuck rule game rubbed me the wrong way
@thedereklee9 : Yeah, Montana's kids aren't anything special athletically. But it happens with many kids of HOF players. Jerry Rice Jr., for instance, can't even get playing time at UCLA currently.
Brady doesn't consider himself in the same league as Joe Montana. And you know what? He's probably the second best quarterback behind Joe if you ask me (I'll wait to see if Aaron Rodgers can continue to dominate at the ridiculous level he has played at for 4 years).
Would I want Tom Brady on the 49ers? HELL YEAH! I'd give a lung for that! But was he as dominate as Joe Montana was then with the much stricter, more defense-friendly (especially D-Line), and lesser passer-friendly rules? HELL NO!
There is a reason you all are comparing montana to BRADY. Because we all know he is the best QB in the leauge right now and has been for a while. Brady is the coolest/calmest quarterback in the pocket no doubt about it.
@DanielBzFb I disagree, coolest and calmest IN the pocket is Manning, Peyton Manning. He is the calmest QB I've seen. better than Brady? stats wise I would say no, but in the way he handles the game, yes.
on the final drive of the superbowl against the giants. i was thinking can Brady do it? and I knew ever before he started the drive. NO! HE IS NOT MONTANA!
Gtfo. Brady isn't on montanas level. Brady has the best coach in history to lean on.
And I'm pretty sure he has 2 dependable TE
And the best slot receiver in welker.
Not to mention bradys had weapons in the past hints "moss" and didn't win jack shit
And Ohnestly Peyton mannings better then Brady. There will never be another peyton manning. But there's already another Brady. His name is Aaron rod. And he's better
Joe. played for 15 years and Bradys is in his a 11th season Joes had 273 TD PASSES, with 139 ints, and Brady has 274 TD passes with 108 ints. Joes QB rating is 92.3 BRADYS QB rating 95.8 that proves it my boy Brady is the greatest QB ever! And he broke allmost ever record out there, go PATS :)
@zakkbuckley Okay, 4 Superbowl rings to 3. Montana has him there but Montana had the greatest WR's of all time, arguably the Best TE in the history and the greatest D# of all time and still doesnt have stats close to brady, so i mean when stats speak for themselves i mean how could u argue about that? Brady is the Whole team, Montana never was.
@vishalb94 Yeah, Jerry Rice was the greatest WR of all time - and many would argue the greatest player of all time - but he also had great QB's to benefit from - Montana & Young are HOF'ers, & later had an All-Pro in Rich Gannon. Other SF WR's - Dwight Clark, Freddie Solomon, John Taylor etc. were not that talented but fit the system. TE Brent Jones was decent but nothing great. SF's running game was never elite and neither was the D, but it's stats benefitted from not being on the field much.
@zakkbuckley See my friend you have got me all wrong, im not calling him a bad QB or saying that the only reason he was good was because of his talent around him, im just saying he Had the Great WR's and TE's Olines and Running game and what some now call one of the greatest D# of all time so it really helped him get where he is right now. The reason i believe Tom Brady is better is because he has never had WR's until 07 never had a D#, and never had a Running game even now but has done more
@zakkbuckley and thats why i think hes the Better QB and is Better than Montana, and is the greatest ever.
i mean look at him, he has nobody, no WR's, no TE's, especially no Running game, and No D# at ALL and still is 4-1 right now and has scored 30+ points every week, Montana was and never has been placed in that position and when brady was hes still come out shining.
@vishalb94 Except that Montana won in '81 with no running game at all. And no Jerry Rice. No John Taylor. No Roger Craig. Heck, Montana won two superbowls before Rice joined the NFL. And Montana didn't lose superbowls.
@vishalb94 : Are you kidding me? Brady has arguably the best O-line in the game. He regularly has so much time to throw it's unreal. And actually, last time I checked, NE is 6th in the NFL in rushing. Gronkowski is always a mismatch, Hernandez is very talented, and Welker is small but a great possession receiver. To say that Brady has been placed in a pool of joke talent is just ludicrous. Notice that Brady has won nothing since the Pats D has fallen. Brady doesn't carry his team like Manning.
@zakkbuckley AHAHAHAHAAHAHAH! Brady doesnt carry his team? are u kidding me? he went 14-2 with the 31st ranked D# in the nfl last season so your done talking, and their 6th ranked rushing is only 6th because they pass all game long and when they are up 2-3TD's they run the ball like crazy and add up stats all day and Mannings D# in the Playoffs give up 20.6 pts per game and Bradys give up 21.6 so why is Manning's playoff record 9-10? and Bradys 14-5? Yeah thats what i thought! STFU!
@vishalb94 When did I say Brady doesn't carry his team? And can you even draw a fine line between carrying your team and not carrying your team? I think in 2011, teams like GB and NE are very QB-dependent. A team like SF are not. But during Brady's SB-winning years, he did have the benefit of stalwart defenses. Not to take anything away from Brady, but holding the "Greatest Show on Turf" to 17 points and Philadelphia (an offensive juggernaut then) to 21 certainly helped in those years.
@vishalb94 In fact, with the exception of the 04-05 AFC title game and the SB against Carolina, Brady's playoff wins have been mostly low-scoring slugfests.
@vishalb94 : That's BS. With Brady at QB, New England has failed to score over 20 points in SIX of its playoff games, not 3. Check the pro football reference website or google "Tom Brady playoffs game log" for verification.
@zakkbuckley and 2 Brady has never had anything to work with!!! Joe has had everyone around him and that too always! Give brady Rice and Dwight clark every year in his career, and an amazing D# like joe had all his career, Brady would have 20 SB rings!
@vishalb94 : Now it's clear you're just being a blatant troll. The 49ers never had juggernaut defenses, though they often ranked respectably because they weren't on the field as much as others. Jerry Rice was a top talent (though won 2 SB's w/o him), but the 49ers always had great difficulty running the ball. Clark was truly mediocre, as were Solomon, Wilson, Schumann, Nehemiah, etc.
Brady never had weapons? Moss, Welker, Gronk, Stallworth, great O-lines.
@zakkbuckley read the comment again, i said Joe has never had a bad D#, They have always been ranked top 10 in his years there. and Moss's career was over before he got to NE, and Wes Welker stats werent even a 1/4 of what they were before he got there, and Stallworth was also another nothing before he got to NE, and once he got there he made Pro Bowl and then he left and was another nothing, just like Moss. and Great OLine? Obviously dont watch the games. and he's never had them all in 1season.
@vishalb94 Again, your "facts" need a reality check. First of all, what metric are you talking about for defensive ranking? Since yards are the typical standard I'll use that. In that case, SF defenses were NOT top ten in FOUR of Montana's 10-and-a-half years as the 49ers starter. In 1980 (27th), '82 (21st), '84 (19th), and '85 (14th) they ranked out of the top ten (in a 28-team league). '84 was also a SB year.
@vishalb94 : Brady has had excellent O-lines, especially in his peak years of productivity, which, obviously is to be expected. In 2007, he was sacked a mere 21 times with Logan Mankins, Dan Koppen, and Matt Light on the same line. Brady is relatively statue-esque, so great protection is more essential for his success than more mobile QB's like Vick, Rodgers, Steve Young, etc.
@vishalb94 : Actually, Stallworth never made a Pro Bowl, but was a hell of a third or fourth receiver. Moss' career over when he got to NE? Seriously? He scored 23 TD's for NE in 2007.
I'll give you Welker's mediocrity before NE, but he is arguably the toughest slot receiver to cover in the league.
@vishalb94 : Also, as I mentioned before, we need to be wary of comparing QB's who played in seasons 10-30 years apart. The game was very different in Montana's heyday than it is now. The game, for entertainment purposes, is much more offensive friendly today than it was then. Back then, defensive backs could physically hassle a receiver to their heart's desire so long the ball wasn't in the air.
@vishalb94 : O-linemen, before the mid-70's (i.e., Unitas era), couldn't put their hands on defenders. QB protection is substantially more stringent now than it was in the past. Not to take away from current greats like Rodgers, Brady, and Brees, but today's NFL is like glorified 7-on-7 passing drills. That's why titles (though still a very imperfect measure) are used to compare QB greatness as opposed to yards, TD's, etc. Otherwise, Favre would be "the greatest," and that obviously isn't true.
@zakkbuckley Even now, you cant put your hands on Defenders? WR's cant touch DB's after 5 yards or its a flag! Its the same rules, and Y farve isnt called the greatest is cuz he has as many TD's as INT's and after 22yrs he only has 1 SB to put up with it.
@vishalb94 It's far more of an advantage for defensive players to initiate contact than offensive players. Receivers are more concerned with running their routes and establishing timing (essential) with the QB. Under modern passing rules, being a cover corner is arguably the toughest position to successfully execute in sports. Even if you're burnt once or twice in 70 plays, you had a "bad game."
@zakkbuckley Just wanted to chime in, not to mention the fact that QBs have FAR more weapons now. The tight end has turned into a much more athletic position, and receivers have become much bigger, taller, stronger, and faster. There were no fitzgeralds or calvin johnson's back then. It was a lot harder for a QB to just throw a jump ball and let his WR (who typically has 6-7 inches on a DB) come up with it.
@vishalb94 Also, it's tenuous to statistically compare a QB from one era to a QB from another. Passing stats are largely inflated from the "illegal contact" beyond 5 yards penalty and powderpuff QB-hitting rules. Much of what Deion did to shutdown WR's in his time would be illegal today. Also, a career journeyman like Testaverde outdid Unitas in categories like passing yds and career completion % but no one would ever argue that Testaverde's better. If Brady gets a 4th and/or 5th ring, I'd agree
@zakkbuckley You do know that the 5 yard rule to touching a WR was made in 1971 because of what the Raiders and Steelers CB's were doing right? Its funny because i just found that out yday while watching an NFL film yday LMAO and you talk about it today, thats a nice coincidence, and yeah if Brady gets his 4th 65-70% of people will agree but if he gets his 5th, then the world will agree.
@zakkbuckley Ya i just looked that up my bad, bet either way the 49ers are my favorite team and he is without a doubt the best QB of all time. Even I am a fan of Brady, he is very talented and probably the best in the NFL in this time. But still not a Montana.
@TheStraightedge12 & @ vishalb94 Tom Brady is barely over halfway toward Favre's career passing TD's mark (508), yet no impartial individual will ever argue that Favre is the greatest QB of all time. Marino has gaudy numbers, and in terms of sheer statistical stats regarding the main lifetime categories, they should be one and two. But they aren't. Why? B/c they have one title between them. Legacy in the NFL is based on defining moments (e.g, The Catch, The Drive) and championships, fair or not.
Can't you just copy it like a normal person? Holding a camera in front of a screen? Dude, we did that kind of shit with tape recorders and record players in the 70s....
i love watching "the catch" and guess what? sis and i saw dwight clark on friday night in los gatos at pedros. he's still as awesome as ever. love that guy!!!

Landry didn't cheat.
Walsh didn't cheat.

Parcells didn't cheat.
Gibbs didn't cheat.

Terry41172 1 month ago
@Terry41172 ur the one playing madden!!! TOM BRADY WON 3 SUPERBOWLS BEFORE 2007!!!! 2 back to back!! you havent done research yourself when tom brady has hadf more ccareer tds then manning and more superbowls!!2 manning only has 1!!! dont tell me todo research when you obviouslly dont know tom brady at all
flightofthetallguy 1 month ago
@flightofthetallguy right....even tho peyton manning has 399 career tds, tom brady has more because 399 < 300
Terry41172 1 month ago
@flightofthetallguy hmmmm nothing? lets see deion branch, wes welker bruschi vrabel vinetieri the coach willie mcginist troy brown yep has beens. Stop with the brady didnt have weapons , that defense alone took 2 superbowls from manning. Most overrated player in history. I hate that this is so hyped up as such a great catch. He jumps up and catches it. No big deal. Also the Willy Mays over the shoulder catch is so hyped. It was a nice catch but guess what, I did the same thing when I was 11.
doowoppingchainsawer 2 months ago
@doowoppingchainsawer well obviously u dont realize that he caught it with his finger tips and Joe Montana whose not that tall was being chased by two 6'6 guys who were insanley hard hitters. And also u seem to not realize they went to the super bowl that year after that. And the only thing u caught were eleven were guys
nukefart1 2 months ago
@nukefart1 I know it was a fingertip catch but you see five a game in every game. And I know the importance of the catch as far as it taking them to the Super Bowl. I didn't say it wasn't an important play. It just wasn't that good of a catch. He just caught it. What about Lynn Swann's toes inbounds catch in the Super Bowl? It wasn't a touchdown so it doesn't make the tops but it was a far better catch in every way.
doowoppingchainsawer 2 months ago
@doowoppingchainsawer are u a cowboys fan? honeslty its an INSANE CATCH he jumped like 5 feet off the groound
nextrevolutionfilms1 2 months ago
@nextrevolutionfilms1 No I'm a Steeler fan. In fact, the Cowboys are my least favorite team in the league and my second least favtorite team in all of sports, the Yankees being the least. He caught the ball. Two handed. Nobody fighting him for the ball. I've seen it a million times.
doowoppingchainsawer 2 months ago
@doowoppingchainsawer I've seen the willie mays catch happen at least ten different times the past two years, I agree that it's overrated. But what makes the play so memorable isn't necessarily an incredible catch but that it was the final play of the game against a big rival and Montana had to roll away from two or three big Dallas defenders and make a bullet to Clark.
paranormal17 2 months ago
@paranormal17 Agreed. That's the thing. The PLAY was an important one; the CATCH was nothing special.

Montana is without a doubt the best QB in history. Followed, in my opinion, by manning. I mean, look at the colts this year. The only star they don't have is manning and they're winless. If Aaron Rodgers wasn't in god mode this year, I'd vote Manning MVP.
paranormal17 3 months ago
@paranormal17 You're wrong in saying "the only star they don't have is manning"
Peyton is the only one on that team worthy of being called a star. It's become very clear that the only reason the colts did well was because of how dominant of a quarterback he is, not because the rest of his team is anything special. Just imagine him on a team with star players.
Riverweasel09 3 months ago
@Riverweasel09 This is actually part of my point. Give Manning Randy Moss and Plaxico Burress and he could challenge Montana's niners.
paranormal17 2 months ago
great play... but i just see spygate in the comments section and it pisses me off. every team does it pats were the only one caught, and ur dumb if u think it had anything to do with their superbowl wins. thats just an excuse bitter colts fans use to get over the fact that manning has only led them to one superbowl
neilandcary 3 months ago
Not a colts fan, but I speak for most of the NFL Fans when I say this. Belichick used spygate from 2000-2007 when got caught, true other teams did as well but not to the extent of Belichick as the whistleblower Matt Walsh said when Belichick had the oppossing teams walk through recorded.
If you know the oppossing teams signals you know their play & that will help you as a Team, where is the other team going to pass, run, what kind of Defense. It helps when you know your opposing team is doing.

Joe Montana: 11 touchdowns, 0 interceptions (GOAT status!)

@faceurhell the league is harder now then it was
flightofthetallguy 1 month ago
Brady doesn't consider himself in the same league as Joe Montana. And you know what? He's probably the second best quarterback behind Joe if you ask me (I'll wait to see if Aaron Rodgers can continue to dominate at the ridiculous level he has played at for 4 years).
Would I want Tom Brady on the 49ers? HELL YEAH! I'd give a lung for that! But was he as dominate as Joe Montana was then with the much stricter, more defense-friendly (especially D-Line), and lesser passer-friendly rules? HELL NO!
faceurhell 4 months ago
There is a reason you all are comparing montana to BRADY. Because we all know he is the best QB in the leauge right now and has been for a while. Brady is the coolest/calmest quarterback in the pocket no doubt about it.

@DanielBzFb I disagree, coolest and calmest IN the pocket is Manning, Peyton Manning. He is the calmest QB I've seen. better than Brady? stats wise I would say no, but in the way he handles the game, yes.

@TheStraightedge12 The relevant part: Joe has four rings, Brady has three.
zakkbuckley 4 months ago 29
@zakkbuckley Okay, 4 Superbowl rings to 3. Montana has him there but Montana had the greatest WR's of all time, arguably the Best TE in the history and the greatest D# of all time and still doesnt have stats close to brady, so i mean when stats speak for themselves i mean how could u argue about that? Brady is the Whole team, Montana never was.
vishalb94 4 months ago
@vishalb94 Yeah, Jerry Rice was the greatest WR of all time - and many would argue the greatest player of all time - but he also had great QB's to benefit from - Montana & Young are HOF'ers, & later had an All-Pro in Rich Gannon. Other SF WR's - Dwight Clark, Freddie Solomon, John Taylor etc. were not that talented but fit the system. TE Brent Jones was decent but nothing great. SF's running game was never elite and neither was the D, but it's stats benefitted from not being on the field much.
zakkbuckley 4 months ago
@zakkbuckley See my friend you have got me all wrong, im not calling him a bad QB or saying that the only reason he was good was because of his talent around him, im just saying he Had the Great WR's and TE's Olines and Running game and what some now call one of the greatest D# of all time so it really helped him get where he is right now. The reason i believe Tom Brady is better is because he has never had WR's until 07 never had a D#, and never had a Running game even now but has done more
vishalb94 4 months ago
@zakkbuckley and thats why i think hes the Better QB and is Better than Montana, and is the greatest ever.
i mean look at him, he has nobody, no WR's, no TE's, especially no Running game, and No D# at ALL and still is 4-1 right now and has scored 30+ points every week, Montana was and never has been placed in that position and when brady was hes still come out shining.
vishalb94 4 months ago
@vishalb94 Except that Montana won in '81 with no running game at all. And no Jerry Rice. No John Taylor. No Roger Craig. Heck, Montana won two superbowls before Rice joined the NFL. And Montana didn't lose superbowls.
zazozung 4 months ago
@vishalb94 : Are you kidding me? Brady has arguably the best O-line in the game. He regularly has so much time to throw it's unreal. And actually, last time I checked, NE is 6th in the NFL in rushing. Gronkowski is always a mismatch, Hernandez is very talented, and Welker is small but a great possession receiver. To say that Brady has been placed in a pool of joke talent is just ludicrous. Notice that Brady has won nothing since the Pats D has fallen. Brady doesn't carry his team like Manning.
zakkbuckley 4 months ago
@zakkbuckley pats haven't won a superbowl since teddy bruski left...

@zakkbuckley Brady didn't have the offensive weapons like manning did until '08, so that's not relevant. 3 rings - 1 ring is.
GotAnEyedea 4 months ago
@zakkbuckley AHAHAHAHAAHAHAH! Brady doesnt carry his team? are u kidding me? he went 14-2 with the 31st ranked D# in the nfl last season so your done talking, and their 6th ranked rushing is only 6th because they pass all game long and when they are up 2-3TD's they run the ball like crazy and add up stats all day and Mannings D# in the Playoffs give up 20.6 pts per game and Bradys give up 21.6 so why is Manning's playoff record 9-10? and Bradys 14-5? Yeah thats what i thought! STFU!

Patritos WITHOUT SPYGATE = 0 SuperBowls
gfscarface13 3 months ago
@vishalb94 When did I say Brady doesn't carry his team? And can you even draw a fine line between carrying your team and not carrying your team? I think in 2011, teams like GB and NE are very QB-dependent. A team like SF are not. But during Brady's SB-winning years, he did have the benefit of stalwart defenses. Not to take anything away from Brady, but holding the "Greatest Show on Turf" to 17 points and Philadelphia (an offensive juggernaut then) to 21 certainly helped in those years.
zakkbuckley 2 months ago
@vishalb94 In fact, with the exception of the 04-05 AFC title game and the SB against Carolina, Brady's playoff wins have been mostly low-scoring slugfests.
zakkbuckley 2 months ago
@zakkbuckley LoL WTF are you talking about? He has scored over 20 pts in ever playoff game except 3!
vishalb94 2 months ago
@vishalb94 : That's BS. With Brady at QB, New England has failed to score over 20 points in SIX of its playoff games, not 3. Check the pro football reference website or google "Tom Brady playoffs game log" for verification.
zakkbuckley 2 months ago
@zakkbuckley and 2 Brady has never had anything to work with!!! Joe has had everyone around him and that too always! Give brady Rice and Dwight clark every year in his career, and an amazing D# like joe had all his career, Brady would have 20 SB rings!
vishalb94 2 months ago
@vishalb94 : Now it's clear you're just being a blatant troll. The 49ers never had juggernaut defenses, though they often ranked respectably because they weren't on the field as much as others. Jerry Rice was a top talent (though won 2 SB's w/o him), but the 49ers always had great difficulty running the ball. Clark was truly mediocre, as were Solomon, Wilson, Schumann, Nehemiah, etc.
Brady never had weapons? Moss, Welker, Gronk, Stallworth, great O-lines.
And the 20 SB rings thing is absurd.
zakkbuckley 2 months ago
@zakkbuckley read the comment again, i said Joe has never had a bad D#, They have always been ranked top 10 in his years there. and Moss's career was over before he got to NE, and Wes Welker stats werent even a 1/4 of what they were before he got there, and Stallworth was also another nothing before he got to NE, and once he got there he made Pro Bowl and then he left and was another nothing, just like Moss. and Great OLine? Obviously dont watch the games. and he's never had them all in 1season.
vishalb94 2 months ago
@vishalb94 Again, your "facts" need a reality check. First of all, what metric are you talking about for defensive ranking? Since yards are the typical standard I'll use that. In that case, SF defenses were NOT top ten in FOUR of Montana's 10-and-a-half years as the 49ers starter. In 1980 (27th), '82 (21st), '84 (19th), and '85 (14th) they ranked out of the top ten (in a 28-team league). '84 was also a SB year.
zakkbuckley 2 months ago
@vishalb94 : Brady has had excellent O-lines, especially in his peak years of productivity, which, obviously is to be expected. In 2007, he was sacked a mere 21 times with Logan Mankins, Dan Koppen, and Matt Light on the same line. Brady is relatively statue-esque, so great protection is more essential for his success than more mobile QB's like Vick, Rodgers, Steve Young, etc.
zakkbuckley 2 months ago
@vishalb94 : Actually, Stallworth never made a Pro Bowl, but was a hell of a third or fourth receiver. Moss' career over when he got to NE? Seriously? He scored 23 TD's for NE in 2007.
I'll give you Welker's mediocrity before NE, but he is arguably the toughest slot receiver to cover in the league.
zakkbuckley 2 months ago
@vishalb94 : Also, as I mentioned before, we need to be wary of comparing QB's who played in seasons 10-30 years apart. The game was very different in Montana's heyday than it is now. The game, for entertainment purposes, is much more offensive friendly today than it was then. Back then, defensive backs could physically hassle a receiver to their heart's desire so long the ball wasn't in the air.
zakkbuckley 2 months ago
@vishalb94 : O-linemen, before the mid-70's (i.e., Unitas era), couldn't put their hands on defenders. QB protection is substantially more stringent now than it was in the past. Not to take away from current greats like Rodgers, Brady, and Brees, but today's NFL is like glorified 7-on-7 passing drills. That's why titles (though still a very imperfect measure) are used to compare QB greatness as opposed to yards, TD's, etc. Otherwise, Favre would be "the greatest," and that obviously isn't true.
zakkbuckley 2 months ago
@zakkbuckley Even now, you cant put your hands on Defenders? WR's cant touch DB's after 5 yards or its a flag! Its the same rules, and Y farve isnt called the greatest is cuz he has as many TD's as INT's and after 22yrs he only has 1 SB to put up with it.
vishalb94 2 months ago
@vishalb94 It's far more of an advantage for defensive players to initiate contact than offensive players. Receivers are more concerned with running their routes and establishing timing (essential) with the QB. Under modern passing rules, being a cover corner is arguably the toughest position to successfully execute in sports. Even if you're burnt once or twice in 70 plays, you had a "bad game."
Douker also brings up a great point in his post.
zakkbuckley 2 months ago
@zakkbuckley Just wanted to chime in, not to mention the fact that QBs have FAR more weapons now. The tight end has turned into a much more athletic position, and receivers have become much bigger, taller, stronger, and faster. There were no fitzgeralds or calvin johnson's back then. It was a lot harder for a QB to just throw a jump ball and let his WR (who typically has 6-7 inches on a DB) come up with it.
douker 2 months ago
@douker Great points. I agree.
zakkbuckley 2 months ago
@vishalb94 Also, it's tenuous to statistically compare a QB from one era to a QB from another. Passing stats are largely inflated from the "illegal contact" beyond 5 yards penalty and powderpuff QB-hitting rules. Much of what Deion did to shutdown WR's in his time would be illegal today. Also, a career journeyman like Testaverde outdid Unitas in categories like passing yds and career completion % but no one would ever argue that Testaverde's better. If Brady gets a 4th and/or 5th ring, I'd agree
zakkbuckley 4 months ago
@zakkbuckley You do know that the 5 yard rule to touching a WR was made in 1971 because of what the Raiders and Steelers CB's were doing right? Its funny because i just found that out yday while watching an NFL film yday LMAO and you talk about it today, thats a nice coincidence, and yeah if Brady gets his 4th 65-70% of people will agree but if he gets his 5th, then the world will agree.

xXxZodiacSFxXx 2 months ago
@TheStraightedge12 & @ vishalb94 Tom Brady is barely over halfway toward Favre's career passing TD's mark (508), yet no impartial individual will ever argue that Favre is the greatest QB of all time. Marino has gaudy numbers, and in terms of sheer statistical stats regarding the main lifetime categories, they should be one and two. But they aren't. Why? B/c they have one title between them. Legacy in the NFL is based on defining moments (e.g, The Catch, The Drive) and championships, fair or not.
