I just saw this show in Boston over the weekend and it is by far the most fun I've had in the theatre. I've been seen some funny shows, but this was by far the funniest. Go and see it if you can.
I wish someone could post the entire opera. I saw the original London cast version on here before they pulled it and it was GREAT! I LOVE THE KKK PART. They are soooo ignorant! Technically it's not an opera. Having spoken lines. That said,I agree that the Christian Right in the US is out of control. Though,it must be said that there have been many American musicals containing controversial or what could be called objectionable themes. (Dancing Nazis in "The Producers", a 20 year run of OH! CALCUTTA!). Broadway has a long history of pushing the envelope on what is acceptable. The show has never met with protest in the US. While 9 theaters backed out in UK protests.
I recommend seeing it all before judging. What exactly do you find offensive?
Also, its had Harvey Keitel in it so far, not quite so amateur, but its testing itself in the US before doing Broadway, but I dont doubt it'll get there.
this is an opera and so they have full artistic license to say anything they wanted. Besides Jerry Springer is about white trash for white trash and those who want to see their filth.

Technically it's not an opera. Having spoken lines. That said,I agree that the Christian Right in the US is out of control. Though,it must be said that there have been many American musicals containing controversial or what could be called objectionable themes. (Dancing Nazis in "The Producers", a 20 year run of OH! CALCUTTA!). Broadway has a long history of pushing the envelope on what is acceptable. The show has never met with protest in the US. While 9 theaters backed out in UK protests.

As a Catholic, I'm apauled by most of the religious involed content in the show. I'm glad it never made it to Broadway.

I seen parts. And it only made it to the U.S. in Regional or Ameteur Productions. It never premiered on Broadway.
