This noise is wierd..I have a 750MB internal zipdrive and when boot, it makes a squicking noise, it is wierd...it does work and reads and writes data on the zip discs..but the noise is freaking me out, and I don't like it one bit.
That don't sound entirely normal for this drive. Not entirely abnormal.. I'd run a chkdsk /f for the heck of it. Beyond that if you ever remember turning it sideways while it was on in the past, then that definitely effected it.
Jaz Drives were a HORRIBLE product. Crashed and failed constantly. At the animation school I attended and worked at as tech support, these drives were being returned constantly for repairs and refunds. Iomega finally issued a blanket, return it and we'll refund your money policy in order to save face.

@pufixas no, actually, this was made by the same compant that made Zip drives, but uses a completely diffrerent technology.
Zip disks are basically really high-density floppy disks, while this is more like some hard drive platters in a hard shell.

I think that sound is normal since the drive first needs to seek and identify its file system and i also need a jaz drive.

If your Jaz can still read its cartridges, get yourself an external HD and transfer data ASAP. Consider yourself warned.
