  • hey man ur trany hole try that mighty putty shit it will hold up to heat real good.

  • put the shifter to your right bolt a piecs of metal to floor and or buy one from jeffy's fab farm in canada he has everything you need

  • the filler tube on rad brakes off power steering pump i had the wagon version in a no weld class

  • hey i know how to put in reverse on this car

  • well since ive been running derbys i became good friends with some of the officials. these guys put on 50 plus derbys a year. and one of the good tips they gave me. is most guys up here will wrap two rolls of duct tape on each of the cv axles. they may break but they wont pop out. never tried it myself but seen alot of guys doing it to their cars.

  • Same thing happened with my 89 taurus, couldn't find any gears if I remember correctly when it said neutral on the dash it was actually reverse. I had to stop going into gear by what the dash said and just go by feel

  • back end wants to go down on the side where the bigger wheel well is in the truck?

  • @09JrSmith Yep, drivers side. Sounds like you have it happen also?

  • @DemolitionMissions they always do that right their what i did to mine was dimpled it right behind it an made a little cut on my lumina i wedge an prebent it up seems to work so much better not going down at all yet

  • if manual trans are so good why dont full size cars use them. i think for derbies wet clutchs last longer

  • @laweez14 what do you mean they don't use them? They do use them... where did u get the idea they don't? Even tractors use them... Even high performance cars use manual gearboxes, e.x. Porsche still uses manual gearboxes, semi automatic gearboxes are preferred just cause they are faster to shift cause they take the drivers sluggishness out of the equation.

On a derby automatic transmissions seem to be to much of a problem as I see it! Leaks, heat, electronics. Too many can go wrong.

  • the hurst shifter is not from a hurst car just so im clear, hurst is the company that makes it. the cable does have a plastic sleve around it and its flexible. use solid motor mounts.

  • use a hurst shifter, the cable isn't stranded it a sold steel cable, alot stronger, i dont have any problems with it. run it through the firewall. it costed me a couple hundred but lasts forever

  • Could you take a bolt and thread it into the pan? I would ask the mechanic that told you not to weld it.

  • when you weld up your struts make shure there full extended to lift the front you being higher then every one will help and save you

  • Glad to see a video Mitch. Can't wait till the new season.

  • Yup. Front drives need to be held firmly. I am surprise the axle did not break the separator plate. (kinda like a valve body) I have seen a lot when I was a body man. That is just another reason mini derby guys are hard core. Taking the hardest thing to build and the easiest to break. Gez all I can come up with is build custom heavy duty rubber mounts. Or run tie downs every which way you can. < Awesome movie!

  • oh also if the car over heats it will cause the radiator to blow fluid out that also happens when the fans brakes. It happened on my daily driver

  • jus a wild idea bro when u fix the tranny or replace it put rubber bushings or some kind of rubber on the bolt(s) that went into the tranny just incase it somehow happens again.

  • its a ford everything is wrong with it.lmao

  • plate you pan so nothing can punch a hole in it again

  • Check to make sure one of your pullys didn't seize causing your belt to break. I'm still surprised the cv joints didn't break with those massive mud tires on the front.

    Matt

  • make up all metal mounts

  • Get a manual transmission?

  • @Ismaak5 Then I would have to find an engine to match it and hook up in this car.

  • @DemolitionMissions as far as I know all engines from factory come with both the automatic and manual option so there is already a manual transmission for this car with this engine, what u will have to do is find one and then fit it with a clutch pedal and a manual gear shifter, that would be somewhat hard but the manual transmission will get you through a derby even if it gets drained from fluids!

  • can u not run a manual gearbox and just lock it in a gear and just use the clutch so u wont have as many tranny issues

  • @weirdstuffanimation7 That's a good way to bust teh transmission

  • @79Datson not really u dont go that fast in a derby so u would only really ever need second gear and reverse manuals just tend to hold up better then autos since they can run without fluid (they will die eventually) but autos cant function at all without it

  • nice to see a video up. its been awhile.

  • Nice at least you got 2 cars for next year

  • For the transmission hole if you were really lazy couldn't you JB weld it:P?

  • @w1ldyovvnz Too big of a hole for that.

  • awesome looking vids i just got the toshiba camileo x200 camcorder so 2012 derby videos for me will be way better

  • Good luck with getting it going for the next derby.

  • run the shifter straight through the firewall

  • run a double trany pan and oil pan that will help
