  • My God, does this have to happen every single time I'm trying to listen to something that has even remotely religious references on it?

  • @iregretasking well its youtube we are talking about, its full of fanatics from all sides .

  • what religion is this? I know its not Christian because I'm a Christian.

  • Beautiful voice! I wish I had a voice like that :(

  • religion sorta stupid........why?

  • @MrLuvcookies Why is religion stupid? Because that's your opinion. You just said yourself that religion is stupid, but we cannot explain that for you since it's your opinion.

  • It sounds like God singing to us. Calling out our names. Waiting for us.

  • <3

  • EPIC song..:)

  • Um... call me stupid-I don't really know the details of Christian-ness...

But who on earth in Judas?!?!?!?!?

And why are you people saying that this song is about god? The one from the bible, I soppose? I thought Within Temptation was/is a Gothic band???

And if you reply, please keep in mind that I'm not Christian and don't believe in any other kind of religion... thanks... if anyone actually bothers to answer my badly phrased question...

  • @Kinpatsulozz44 They're insisting it's about Christianity because it mentions two or three christianity-related things a metaphors and sadly, while we have seen the error of our ways in most areas of life, when it comes to religion, the mindset of a few of my fellow europeans (or americans of european descent) is sadly still back in the colonia epoche. they think everything is about their religion, basically, and that anyone who as much as mentions is automatically

  • @Kinpatsulozz44 believes in it or has to be mocking it. It's not like any of them believe or mock the religion of the ancient greeks when they mention greek mythology... Judas is, according to the bible, a disciple of Jesus (you know, that guy on the cross. Basically, an avatar of the Christian god) who ultimately betrayed him, leading to his demise. In popular culture/tradition, he's often used as the archetypical traitor.

  • @Kinpatsulozz44 Also, there's no reason to apologize. I doubt anyone here has a clue about whatever people believe where you are from. Oh, and just out of curiosity, where are you from? (I hardly meet anyone who doesn't know about Christianity, even on the internet. It's a sad sighn that, in spite of many great improvements, wealth and technology like the internet still aren't anywhere near evenly distributed on this world...) Some of the former soviet states? Or is it Asia?

  • @KendrixTermina Just because I didn't know who Judas was doesn't mean that I don't know about Christianity. A school teacher once shoved a Christian Bible in my face and wouldn't let me go home untill I'd read it. (Luckily, he got fired. That sort of person isn't teacher material.)

I'm from England, although i lived in a certain Asian country for half my childhood. The reason for my lack of detailed Christian knowledge. Where are you from?

Thanks for telling me about Judas!

  • ...Ouch. This hits a little too close to home! But what better way to satisfy sorrow than with a song that verbalizes your situation? Thank you for uploading and posting lyrics!

  • The great thing about most songs like this is that they have multiple interpretations and are meant to be interpreted differently by different people. I prefer to look at this as a Christian viewpoint, such as the people who call themselves Christians, but are just as dark and gritty as the people they criticize. Yet, no matter how far you get into it, there will always be salvation waiting. WT is obviously not a Christian band though, so this is more of a personal interpretation.

  • ooooooow the 1 disliker is all alone lets keep it that way

  • from 2:50 ....CATHARSIS!

  • Wow reading through these comments is kinda hilarious. Mention a cross and mention judas and all of a sudden the rest of the lyrics mean nothing and the song is about christianity? Pffbt! I believe they are really just metaphors and the song (how I choose to interpret it) is more about one persons indifference to the love another has for them.

Great font and use of colours btw and thoroughly enjoyed listening to one of my all time favourite songs!

  • Comment removed

  • @Marwolaeth01I agree with you.It is very stupid that people are talking about Christianity just because the song mentioned a cross

  • @Marwolaeth01 .I believe that this song is about two people that are in a relationship the woman loves the man but he only betrays her and lies to her and these things are hurting her but she still is loving him and wants to give him another chance with the hope that he will change.I believe that the cross is used as a metaphor to symbolize the pain and Judas is used as a metaphor to symbolize the betray .well this is how I interpret this song :P

  • @riversoflust Nice interpretation!! Try joining Songmeanings , if your interpretations are so great you must share them with people! ^_^ Songmeanings is a community to share what you think songs mean (obvous ha?)! It is a great site that hosts ANY type of lyrics, from symphonic metal to hip-hop! If you decide to join and need any help, post a comment in my profile here, I would be glad to help!

  • @Marwolaeth01 You are my new favorite person, just so you know. :D And I'm glad you liked the use of colors and font. ^^

  • @Marwolaeth01 Erm... I think it is indeed about God. If we take it literally, she's praying to God while bearing her cross, but obviously God remains silent. She gets disappointed and that's quite all. Although, the second chorus confused me a little... Anyway, just a thought :)

  • @Marwolaeth01 Sorry, I meant verse. Second, verse not chorus :P

  • @Marwolaeth01 Yeah. It gets especially ridiculoous when they start interpreting christian meaning into japanese movies because the author used some crosses cause they liked our mythology, just like some of us like asian mythology. We have changed and become more civilized, but when it comes to religion, Europeans and Noth Americans still think they're the navel of the world. Christianity is just a collection of cool myths to those who don't believe in it, They should get over it.

  • @Marwolaeth01 OF COURSE a GOTHIC band is gonna use metaphors from mythology...

  • @Marwolaeth01 i mean, look at the damn CHORUS. "Why have you waited to emrace me etc.". It's quite obviously a love song, unless they're claiming sharon wants to f**** god...

  • @KendrixTermina She has every right to if she wants to. I mean after all, she is a goddess herself :oP

  • I don't understand why there's a dislike button, this song is awesome

  • Cloister Black = Death Note + Within Temptation = FUCK YEA.

  • God is a saver,denying,what is real,i alway's heard.

  • Christian or not Christian oriented, this is a great song! It has a great message to those who'll listen.

  • How did you upload this without it getting removed for copyright? >_<

  • @imadethis2watchvidz Um, I actually can't remember very well. Tell ya what though, imadethis2watchvidz, I'll go figure out what it was that I did and get back to ya. :) I don't seem to remember it being anything overly hard. ^^

  • @PurpleGumdropsYum Okay, thanks XD

  • @PurpleGumdropsYum in most countries copyright doesnt prevent you from sharing a video for non-profit. 99% of videos that get flagged can be protested and youtube will leave the audio in, but you have to protest it.

  • @SuperColossal33 Ah, thanx. ^^ I'd noticed the copyright stuff seemed to have changed for youtube, but didn't quite understand it. Is that how it is now?

  • all i can think on this song....animal cruelity

  • i love this song.

  • i love this song her voice is amazing

  • Honestly, I don't think this is religious

  • i love this song...it's realy my favorite of this groupe...

  • nice song thank you

  • I somehow got a dislike feeling when I even see/hear ANYTHING that has to do with ANY religion :P

but when I am not listening to lyrics, but to the singing and the instruments I feel that this song is damn great :)

pushing button left of the other one

  • This is my favorite Within Temptation song. You can hear such deep emotion in her voice.

  • i think Religion should not be brought into music

  • @suicidegothify The biblical references in this song are just comparisons...and since the Bible is pretty well-known, a lot of people would understand the references. But I see your point with that; not everyone is religious. :)

  • @suicidegothify The Bible is the oldest surviving piece of literature. Every story, poem, or song carries at least a small reminder of this.

  • @playthecard22 false. i can not even begin to express how false. just google it, will save us both a lot of time.

  • @sipsaimias I didn't really expect to be called on that. Let's see... The Bible, thanks to the power the Catholic church has had over the years, is one of the most influential and widely known pieces of literature. In fact, it was the one of the only books not lost during the dark ages. There was a time when the only book people read was the Bible, and it still holds great influence today.

  • @suicidegothify Give me a break. If songs can have violence, death, rape and all that jazz in it then they sure as hell can have religion. Music has been religious in nature LONG before it became secularized.

I'm religious but I couldn't care less if a band made a song that's meaning was anti-religious. If it sounds good then it sounds good.

  • @mrsticky005 Hello there. Um, I respect your opinion...but you are being a little more on the vicious side here. I would appreciate it if you make any future comments on this video, if you could tone it down and stay calm and respect the opinions of others. Because that's all suicidegothify was doing; stating an opinion. No need to attack that person. Have a good day.

  • @PurpleGumdropsYum Sorry if it sounds like I'm being too vicious or attacking in my comment. I just vehemently disagree with suicidegothify's opinion. I think it is rather selfish to want music to only cater

to a certain belief (or lack thereof) system. I for one love the fact that there is both religious (of all kinds) and secular music because it provides so many different views. Now I certainly don't agree with all those views but that's the point. It gives us a different perspective.

  • @PurpleGumdropsYum To give a better idea of what I mean think of the opposite situation. Suppose that I said "I think secularism should not be brought into music." Do you not think that would be a completely ridiculous thing to say? Imagine if it actually happened. Or how about if television ONLY catered to a specific religion. How boring would that be? I think we should all listen to what we want to listen to but we shouldn't decide what OTHERS want to listen to.

  • @mrsticky005 Yes, I understand where you're coming from. That makes sense. But they weren't telling anyone what kind of music to listen to...just stating a personal opinion. There's no fight here, and there's no right or wrong. Opinions are opinions.

  • @PurpleGumdropsYum In a way actually suicidegothify WAS telling people what kind of music to listen to. After all if suicidegothify had their way and religion was not "brought into music" then everyone would have to listen to secular music because there would be no religious music to listen to. Not only that but nobody would be able to play religious music if suicidegothify had their way. And again it's equally bad if you switch it from no religious music to no secular music.

  • @mrsticky005 I told you that there was no argument or fight here, mrsticky005. Quite frankly I'm getting rather frustrated with you pushing the subject. I told you that you're welcome to your opinion but suicidegothify is also welcome to theirs. They did nothing wrong and last I looked (which was like 2 seconds ago), they said "i think Religion should not be brought into music", not "i think everyone should stop listening to Religion". You need to just stop. It's a matter of personal preference.

  • @PurpleGumdropsYum I never thought suicidegothify was saying "I think everyone should stop listening to religion" I was arguing against suicidegothify's opinion that "religion should not be brought in music."

I'm not saying everyone should listen to religious music or that all music should be religious. 99% of the music I've listened to is probably not religious. I'm just saying it should be an option. suicidegothify

    doesn't seem to agree.

But anywho I've said my peace. Later.

  • @mrsticky005 Let me state my peace then: Opinions shouldn't be subjects of debate. How would you feel if you stated an opinion that someone decided was wrong because it happened to be the opposite of theirs and they proceeded to argue the point? Obviously they'd be wrong to you. So you'd both be wrong. Therefore both opinions are correct and that is so simply because it's right to the person who the opinion belongs to. Opinion isn't fact. So what if someone doesn't agree with you? That's life.

  • @mrsticky005 And on a side note: I'm sorry for being a brat. I usually try not to be. Or at least I like to think I try not to be.

  • @PurpleGumdropsYum No need for an apology.

  • @mrsticky005

I don't see an issue with it myself. It's not like there was any preaching in it. hell in the song "memories" she talked about praying to the dos (plural), and that song was really personal and about her possible future self should her husband die.

Religion has Mythology and Mythology is a great source of inspiration. IMO anyways.

  • @PurpleGumdropsYum Religion is one of the most important questions in all of life. Why do we exist and what we should do with out lives. Suicidegothify thinks that should not be brought into music is just ridiculous and also makes that person a Fascist who wants to censer what viewpoints people can hear about. That is really messed up. He can certainly choose to not listen to music that has religious thoughts but he can mind his own business if he is telling others what they are allowed to hear.

  • @TristanandIsolt And you wanna know what? I never said religion wasn't important. Okay? I am not looking for another argument here. Just know that I wasn't arguing for or against religion itself, I was simply pointing out why it was ridiculous to be so harsh about someone's opinion. Totally different there. The opinion just happened to be religion based. And that is that.

  • i think Religion should not be brought into music

  • @suicidegothify I'm glad there is religion in music, or there would not be any reason to listen to it.

  • Me and my friends used this song for a movie about genocide for our AP World History class. It was sooooo creepy, especially wih all the pictures to go with it.

  • The 1 dislike is from Judas

  • this makes me think of my dad and my ex why am i still calling their name.......

  • This song really reminds me of the Norse god of Mischief, Loki. So can you make a tribute to him with this song please? Thank you!

  • @RabuneHino2 Well, I'm working on another video at the moment...but I can see if I could do something with that...or if one of my friends could. I'll let you know. ^^

  • @PurpleGumdropsYum Thank you

  • @RabuneHino2 Hahaha, that's weird. I intended to do that with this song. xD

  • I'm gonna take all 0 of those dislikes and I'm gonna.....hmmm none? This song is too good to hate ^_^

  • I totally forgot about this song until someone mentioned it today at school! I love it!

  • 2:51 = I wanna die on that moment...omfg such a beautiful song..

  • The "L" by the word lyrics reminds me of L from Death Note :D (if you know what Death Note is ^^' )

  • @ShadowDragon105 thats a movie :D

  • @Brambletalon25 It just sounds like some wicked synthesizers, followed up with he most beautiful female vocals in history =]

  • REAL VOCALS strong lyrics......refreshing

  • DUTCH DELIGHT

  • I love this song. <3

    The intro is just epic.

Within Temptation is one of the best bands in this world. <3

  • This song speak about Jesus?

  • @LeeZenith That's what I thought when I first heard this song...but my brother assured me (as I felt a little offended at the thought) that the part that mentions Judas was a comparison of deep betrayal. (And now this is one of my favorite songs by them. xD Funny how those things work out, eh?)

  • @PurpleGumdropsYum

    @LeeZenith

Well Sharon and Robert are both Christians, though the band is not. It was probably inspired by the Gospels, though I dunno if that's what it's really about.

Also, who gets offended by Christianity? That's total bullcrap.

  • @Arkatox I never said Christianity offended me. I'm a Christian too. What offended me was that I thought they were writing a song from the viewpoint of Christ when I first heard it...which seemed disrespectful. But, since that's not what the song is, it's not offensive.

  • @PurpleGumdropsYum Oh, I see now. I misunderstood you. :)

  • @Arkatox That's all good. ^^ The wording was a little vague on my part.

  • @PurpleGumdropsYum

I had the same problem at first, but one of my Christian friends explained the "Judas" reference.

I'm on the same page as you and LeeZenith now.

    WITHIN TEMPTATION RULES!!

  • I should send these lyrics to my Dad. He's has a drinking problem that has caused me and my siblings to undergo foster care. He denies help with his problem, and will not stop. Fuck him.

  • @FinalBossPwner It is always good to take action in a situation like that, but be careful. Some actions are more dangerous than they appear to be.
