It's so funny how commenters talk about "modernity" and "the West" influencing India when they don't even realise that homosexuality and transgenderism has been totally accepted in India for thousands of years before British colonialists came there! In fact it's Western colonialist powers that have spread HOMOPHOBIA to India and other countries! Learn some history kiddos and don't talk about things you don't know :)
Come on people, these are just people being WHO they are. Do you want them to act differently, wear a mask, and act like someone who they are not? Really? Come on, this is 2012. Lets open up our minds and hearts a little bit.
Kinda mad how India goes from one extreme to the other though. One is liberal and "modern" and the other is, well, slightly Neanderthal, brutal, ignorant and impoverished.
So being gay is "like your sick in the head", and I'm assuming you think gay marriage should remain illegal? But think about it, It's just two people that love each other. WHO ARE WE, to stop love?
@Kinglushkush its wrong. plane wrong. it just does not work out. gays cant make children... if we have no normal people we will die simple as that. YING AND YANG.
Gay parents are a hundred percent better then straight parents, why?
Because as you said, they can't make children, so how does this make them better parents? Because they choose to adopt and raise a kid, unlike straight parents, gays cant accidentally make babies. And second of all, they are taking kids that would have stayed their whole life in foster, into their homes. I don't care what you think, gay parents are making more of a positive impact then a negative one.
@Kinglushkush Yes. I consider myself to be Aryan and in case of war, I'll be on the other side of the valves of gas chambers in which to die gays and lesbians!
So you'r blue eyed?, blonde?, muscular?, and if you are a man, beautiful? And if you are all these, don't forgot EVERYBODY else that wasn't Aryan were sent to gas chambers. Blacks, hispanic, jews, gays, lesbians, asians, and anybody that was found mentallly ill and or physically deformed were also sent. You do realize all this do you not?
Being against gay parades does not mean you hate gays. I wonder why all these neo-liberals who are against any kind of other "pride" are supporting gay pride festivals with such a passion.
@panarkas The pride parades were against are those about being better than others. Black prides, white pride, it's about racial superiority.
Gay pride is just an expression of relief after hundreds of years of religious persecution. I think we (society) owe them the right to throw a little party.
Besides there are tons of parades like this for hundreds of different reasons. Why would you forbid this one?
@megamarsvin If the gays feel they are not treated well, they can express it in peaceful protests or gatherings, like any other social group would do. Things happening in some of these "pride parades" like males sexually dancing while wearing thongs, showing their personal body parts in a provocative way and such, are not prudent. They can do all this in appropriate clubs, but I don't think they should do it in the middle of the street and in the sight of anyone, including minors.
@panarkas Oh that's different. You're not saying they cant have a parade but that you think it's obscene? Would you want laws to prevent people from dressing and acting improperly in public?
@megamarsvin Yes, I support laws against actions disturbing social peace and it's not about clothing but the general behavior of someone. I believe most countries have such laws, regardless of them being active or not. This video is not showing something really extreme but in a lot of similar events, especially in Europe and the Americas, the participants are passing the limit. The authorities should not be selective in enforcing laws, for the sake of political correctness.
@panarkas Well like I said that's a different story and although I don't agree I can understand your point. What I don't quite agree with is that it disturbs the peace (at least more than any other parade.)
For example here in my city a yearly Caribbean festival in which women dress in almost nothing and dance around shaking their butts. People even take their kids to see it even though it's overtly sexual. I don't know if I see a problem with it or how it disturbs the peace.
But whats wrong with that? Thats called freedom of expression! And I'm even more deleighted if minors watch. It shows them NOT to be afraid of what society thinks. It shows them that they can be who they are without being afraid of being prosecuted.
@Kinglushkush Freedom of expression has a limit: the point you start disturbing the freedoms of someone else. Gays can do whatever they want in their private life but why they should declare their sexual preference in ways disturbing social consistency? A straight man may be turned on by a beautiful woman he sees on the road, this does not mean he has the right to "express freely" and rape her.
In what instances do you see a gay man raping another gay man? If a straight man is in love with a straight female, they would hold hands, hug, kiss, to show the world that they are in lvoe and that they are together. Does that disturb the public? Hell no, but as soon as two men do the same thing, its called "disturbing someones freedom of expression". Dude, grow up. Two men loving each other is perfectly fine, why stand in the way of love?
@panarkas Ok I was trying to see it from your point of view but if you're going to compare dancing around in the street with rape, I'm sorry you're just talking nonsense.
@megamarsvin I am not comparing anything, I tried to bring an example showing that expressions have a limit. Freedom does not mean you can do whatever you want without caring about others.
@panarkas Limiting rape and murder, of course that's good, limiting people's right to have a celebration, one day when the rules are bent a bit, that's not the same thing.
You're asking them to care about you but you could also care about them and forgive them this one day of celebration.
Heck every weekend the city is crawling with drunk men and women acting like children making out in the streets, that seems to be ok but when gays do it one day people freak out.
@megamarsvin "I think we (society) owe them the right to throw a little party"
Speak for yourself, man, you sound like another global apologetic by the name Barrack Hussein Obama.
I DON'T OWE ANYTHING TO ANYBODY, you have the whatever guilt in your fantasy mind, feel free to work for them for free for as much they would like to, you wouldn't mind that, would you?
@401RoadWarrior Dude what? It's not about guilt, it's about relieving social pressure. But you can't think outside the tiny little box you constructed in your head, clearly.
@megamarsvin Didn't pay attention you're from Holland, the very first country in the world to legalize homo marriage. Marijuana as well, same as prostitution, right? Anybody non-liberal still left in your country?
@401RoadWarrior These days? Unfortunately yes. Your neo-cons have spent millions of dollars to get one of their buddies almost-elected here. He's a rebel without a cause just like you, Geert Wilders, you might have heard from him. He rant and raves against the gays and the foreigners but thankfully people here are already starting to get sick of him.
See most people in Holland don't care if you're gay or smoke weed, we let other people be what they want. It's called freedom.
@megamarsvin No idea what a "neo-con" really is, personally I'm a socially and fiscally CONSERVATIVE, same like our PM Stephen Harper, so feel free to explain what a neo-con is, if you want go to my channel and click on that link with the fundamental differences btwn liberalism and conservatism.
Geert Wilders is very welcome in CDA, he was in Toronto couple of months ago, here is the interview on our Sun News:
@401RoadWarrior Well if you support Wilders you know exactly what a neo-con is. Hey if you want him please come get him he's worn out his welcome here.
You can be a conservative, I've no issues with that, we can agree to disagree. Just don't try to tell me how to live my life or how I'm allowed to dress or speak.
@megamarsvin YOU tell me what a "neo-con" is, over here in CDA or USA we do not use this such term, I guess that's for EU, so feel free to explain me, a pretty dumb CDN, the difference btwn a socially and fiscally conservative, pro-military as well, and a neo-con.
But for you, in social issues, conservative: pro-traditional marriage, pro-life, anti-prostitution, anti-free marijuana, in immigration: pro-legal immigration with patriotic assimilation.
@401RoadWarrior Actually the US does use those terms, they just sort of pretend they don't any more because it's become a very unpopular philosophy. I don't know what Canada uses, I haven't been there in years.
Again I don't care what label you want to put on yourself, as long as you leave me in peace, whether I want to smoke a joint of go to a gay party. None of that is any of your business. I don't come to your house and preach about your lifestyle.
@megamarsvin So go ahead, show a dumb CDN what a "neo-con" really mean, so far, if that was in public, with lots of ppl in front of us like a forum, you would have made completely full of yourself by not being able to explain a term you're so prod of using it, yes?
Buddy, you're free to do whatever you want... in YOUR country, not much of a welcome in CDA or USA.
@401RoadWarrior Well this video is neither about Canada nor America, so if we can't talk about you, why are you talking about us?
Although as I understand it you two have the biggest and best pride parades in the world. And Canada I'm pretty sure has democratically legalized gay marriage by a pretty wide margin no? Congratulations on living in such a free and forward thinking nation ;)
@megamarsvin "And Canada I'm pretty sure has democratically legalized gay marriage by a pretty wide margin no?"
WRONG, legalized in 2003 by THE UNELECTED JUDGES OF THE ONTARIO SUPREME COURT AND THEN CDA SUPREME COURT, at that time, summer 2003, ~75% of canadians were against homo marriage and everybody was asking for a national referendum which was denied by the LIBERAL gov in power at that time.
The CDN case of legalizing homo marriage = SOCIAL LIBERAL DICTATORSHIP.
@401RoadWarrior On December 7, 2006, the House of Commons effectively reaffirmed the legislation by a vote of 175 to 123, defeating a Conservative government motion to examine the matter again.
If that's a dictatorship, what's North Korea?
Must be hard to live your life in that "everyone is out to get me" mindset :)
@megamarsvin That was SYMBOLIC only, the real deal was in 2003 when UNELECTED JUDGES forced the damn homo law on the CDN ppl, plus in that Dec 7, 2006 moment in time conservatives were in minority in gov, liberals + socialists (NDP) overrunning the conservatives, this law might be legal but you cannot force conservatives to accept it in REAL LIFE, before the law nobody cared about homo ppl, now... they don't even dare leaving their very protected ghettos in downtown Toronto.
@401RoadWarrior Symbolic? They tried to repeal the law (which makes sense if it was "forced down your throat") but most representatives voted to uphold it. If they were in a minority it's because they were democratically elected to be in a minority.
Are you seriously saying Canada is a dictatorship because a vote was held at a time when most people disagree with you?
Democracy does not mean "things should always go the way I personally want," you realize that right?
@megamarsvin SOCIAL dictatorship, when somebody, in this case UNELECTED JUDGES, dictates a verdict based on a social issue against the will of the ppl, again that's for 2003 when the law came in place in CDA. So again, in CDA this law has never been approved by the canadian ppl thru a NATIONAL REFERENDUM or any other kind of national vote, in our case unelected judges chosen social dictatorship over DEMOCRACY, against letting ppl decide how the marriage law to look like.
@401RoadWarrior Ok this has turned into a discussion about Canadian politics. I'll admit I don't know enough to argue this point properly, maybe Canada is a dictatorship I don't know.
Back to the real issue: I don't want government laws telling me what I can wear or how I can act as long as I'm not actually hurting other people (and no you being offended is not the same as hurting people.)
Freedom does not mean "I should be free and everyone else should do as I tell them."
@megamarsvin Social dictatorship, anywhere in the world: when UNELECTED judges, Massachusetts another example, become law makers and ORDER (or DICTATE) to the Parliament and/or ordinary ppl how a particular social law, marriage law in this case, should look like. I'm a strong proponent of a DEMOCRATIC VOTE on pretty much everything regardless of how much some ppl would be hurt by the outcome of that vote, that's called DEMOCRACY.
@401RoadWarrior Here it was absolutely a democratic decision. Even the conservative parties didn't oppose it on the principle I explained above: you should be free to be and do what you please as long as it doesn't hurt others. Your sexual preference doesn't make you any better or worse than anyone else, again as long as it's consensual and it doesn't involve some kind of abuse.
There's no way a judge can single-handedly rewrite the law here, I'm amazed that happens in Canada.
Sonia Sotomayor is now one of the 9 US Supreme Court judges, she was nominated by Obama in 2009 or 2010.
Go to wikipedia and same-sex marriage in USA and click on Massachusetts and see how s-s marriage was legalized in that state as well. Again, in CDA s-s marriage was legalized by provincial courts, wikipedia will show you that, and over here, USA & CDA, judges are appointed by the leaders of the country not by the ppl.
@megamarsvin Please read my previous reply to you as well, the one with Sonia Sotomayor.
The type of conservatism you are seeing in EU, over here in NA would qualify only under the LIBERTARIAN banner, something btwn a liberal and a conservative, over here, USA & CDA, TRUE conservatives, ppl and politicians, are pro-traditional marriage, pro-life, anti-marijuana laws, anti-prostitution, pro-military/war, pro-Israel, anti-global warming laws, anti-universal healthcare, lower taxes.
@TDOTEMPIRE 2003 polls of canadians asking LIBERAL Jean Chretien for a NATIONAL REFERENDUM, go to your Ryerson liberal libraries and get the Toronto Star or Sun or Globe & Mail newspapers of that time, and refresh your memory, Mr Ryerson Social Justice Anti-War liberal, all right?
That was all on TV, Mr Liberal, including the emergency meeting over the weekend with Jean Chretien and his liberal caucus simply fighting with his more conservative members to oppose the referendum.
@401RoadWarrior bro its 2012. give me recent data. and last time I checked, gay marriage is legal under a CONSERVATIVE government. and yeah, because im pretty sure the media is SO accurate with their claims and facts. give me scholar references idiot.
thats MS. ryerson to you. in justice studies. and pro-peace.
@401RoadWarrior boy, im glad i live in toronto. we can say gay marriage and it'll be fine. okay, fine to make you happy.. homosexual marriage is legal under a CONSERVATIVE government.
what dumb argument are you going to have for me next? lol, none. your argument is invalid.
@megamarsvin Buddy, cause you apparently are lacking knowledge of political terms, here you go just for you: neo-con is short for neo-conservative and neo-conservative is a person primarily concerned with foreign policy with none or minimum interest in social and/or economical issues. Neo-con has nothing in common with a TRUE conservative who deeply cares about social, fiscal and military issues all seen from a conservative traditional standpoint.
@401RoadWarrior So you do know what a neo-con is? Excellent. But again I don't give a hoot what you call yourself man. Believe whatever you like, I honestly couldn't care less. Just leave other people in peace and don't be the crotchety old man raining on others' parades, the only thing getting worked up accomplishes is ruining your own peace of mind.
I honestly don't get why gays make people so angry. I didn't see even ONE comment like these on the Rio carnival parades.

401RoadWarrior 4 weeks ago
@401RoadWarrior On December 7, 2006, the House of Commons effectively reaffirmed the legislation by a vote of 175 to 123, defeating a Conservative government motion to examine the matter again.
If that's a dictatorship, what's North Korea?
Must be hard to live your life in that "everyone is out to get me" mindset :)
megamarsvin 4 weeks ago
@megamarsvin That was SYMBOLIC only, the real deal was in 2003 when UNELECTED JUDGES forced the damn homo law on the CDN ppl, plus in that Dec 7, 2006 moment in time conservatives were in minority in gov, liberals + socialists (NDP) overrunning the conservatives, this law might be legal but you cannot force conservatives to accept it in REAL LIFE, before the law nobody cared about homo ppl, now... they don't even dare leaving their very protected ghettos in downtown Toronto.
401RoadWarrior 4 weeks ago
@401RoadWarrior Symbolic? They tried to repeal the law (which makes sense if it was "forced down your throat") but most representatives voted to uphold it. If they were in a minority it's because they were democratically elected to be in a minority.
Are you seriously saying Canada is a dictatorship because a vote was held at a time when most people disagree with you?
Democracy does not mean "things should always go the way I personally want," you realize that right?
megamarsvin 4 weeks ago
@megamarsvin SOCIAL dictatorship, when somebody, in this case UNELECTED JUDGES, dictates a verdict based on a social issue against the will of the ppl, again that's for 2003 when the law came in place in CDA. So again, in CDA this law has never been approved by the canadian ppl thru a NATIONAL REFERENDUM or any other kind of national vote, in our case unelected judges chosen social dictatorship over DEMOCRACY, against letting ppl decide how the marriage law to look like.
401RoadWarrior 4 weeks ago
@401RoadWarrior Ok this has turned into a discussion about Canadian politics. I'll admit I don't know enough to argue this point properly, maybe Canada is a dictatorship I don't know.
Back to the real issue: I don't want government laws telling me what I can wear or how I can act as long as I'm not actually hurting other people (and no you being offended is not the same as hurting people.)
Freedom does not mean "I should be free and everyone else should do as I tell them."
megamarsvin 3 weeks ago
@megamarsvin Social dictatorship, anywhere in the world: when UNELECTED judges, Massachusetts another example, become law makers and ORDER (or DICTATE) to the Parliament and/or ordinary ppl how a particular social law, marriage law in this case, should look like. I'm a strong proponent of a DEMOCRATIC VOTE on pretty much everything regardless of how much some ppl would be hurt by the outcome of that vote, that's called DEMOCRACY.
How homosexual marriage was legalized in Holland?
401RoadWarrior 3 weeks ago
@401RoadWarrior Here it was absolutely a democratic decision. Even the conservative parties didn't oppose it on the principle I explained above: you should be free to be and do what you please as long as it doesn't hurt others. Your sexual preference doesn't make you any better or worse than anyone else, again as long as it's consensual and it doesn't involve some kind of abuse.
There's no way a judge can single-handedly rewrite the law here, I'm amazed that happens in Canada.

@megamarsvin Please watch this video:

401RoadWarrior 3 weeks ago
@megamarsvin Please read my previous reply to you as well, the one with Sonia Sotomayor.
The type of conservatism you are seeing in EU, over here in NA would qualify only under the LIBERTARIAN banner, something btwn a liberal and a conservative, over here, USA & CDA, TRUE conservatives, ppl and politicians, are pro-traditional marriage, pro-life, anti-marijuana laws, anti-prostitution, pro-military/war, pro-Israel, anti-global warming laws, anti-universal healthcare, lower taxes.

@401RoadWarrior 75% canadians were against gay marriage? where are you getting your stats fool
TDOTEMPIRE 4 weeks ago
@TDOTEMPIRE 2003 polls of canadians asking LIBERAL Jean Chretien for a NATIONAL REFERENDUM, go to your Ryerson liberal libraries and get the Toronto Star or Sun or Globe & Mail newspapers of that time, and refresh your memory, Mr Ryerson Social Justice Anti-War liberal, all right?
That was all on TV, Mr Liberal, including the emergency meeting over the weekend with Jean Chretien and his liberal caucus simply fighting with his more conservative members to oppose the referendum.

Educate yourself.
401RoadWarrior 1 month ago
@401RoadWarrior So you do know what a neo-con is? Excellent. But again I don't give a hoot what you call yourself man. Believe whatever you like, I honestly couldn't care less. Just leave other people in peace and don't be the crotchety old man raining on others' parades, the only thing getting worked up accomplishes is ruining your own peace of mind.
I honestly don't get why gays make people so angry. I didn't see even ONE comment like these on the Rio carnival parades.
