  • WOW, i'm a chef with 8 years experience and i've never seen a knife that can withstand such an attack from a block of wood and still be able to slice though newspaper effortlessly. I know Damascus knives could do it, but that's definitely not Damascus.

  • @leoliu08 Forge welded steel (damascus) is inferior to todays homogenous crucible steels. And even Japanese laminated steels.

  • How does one get in touch with the knife maker?

  • Very cool

  • I am a chef and collect cutlery from all over. I never seen a knife perform like that, regardless of steel. My $300-$1000 knives with professional sharpening cannot do that. i am speechless. I'd like to see them do that with yoshi blades or those $50-$100 knives they sell on those infomercials. These knives would ridiculously sell like crazy all over the world. What's with this guy selling at a flea market!!! and for only $28???

  • how do we know his demo knives aren't better made than the ones he's selling?

  • @alexsjunk Because the japanese take a lot of pride in there knife making and are very good at what they do.

  • nice knife ,,,

  • could you tell me where you got them im going to japan and would like to buy 5!

  • @chieffy35 He sells the knives in the Osaka/Kyoto area flea markets. I took this video in 2007 but when I went back in 2010 he wasn't there. So I'm not positive he is even selling anymore.

  • that guy could sell those knives anywhere in the world even if nobody understands what he says (except japanese speakers of course). he is a class act and sells good knives.

  • i prefer the old looking ones..they have some ancient spirit ..

  • i have several knives from him they are great. most interesting thing is they are just factory ground you can see the scratches from grinder on them. just imagine what them knives could do if sharpened on very fine stone.

  • Btw anyone know what's his name?

  • Does he have a site he sells them on? I need some new ones bad. Heck almost anything with an edge are sharper than my knives. T_T

  • ¡buen filo! ¡buen cuchillo!

  • This dude should cook at Habachis.

  • i know the guy; i bought a knife off him years ago. i don't think he is a knifermaker himself; he is just very good at selling them (and probably sharpening them); there is always a crowd around him during the demo, and the knives sell very well. they are not the top-notch blades, but nevertheless are made from laminated steel, (carbon steel cutting edge) and cut well. one can find knives of even much higher quality in japan, and pay accordingly.

  • That one he was showing 30 bucks US.

    the other one 68 bucks

the ones he points out 14 bucks.

  • It slices, dices, chops, peels and cuts the shit out of your finger! Japanese knives are my favorite.

  • dont click me

  • "It Slices! It Dices! It's Samari Grade Steel!"

I would guess he uses scrap steel that they use for top quality swords in Japan.

  • Almost as good as I can do! NOT! Great vid.

  • Deadly sharpness... very nice.

  • iff he only was in my country he will be rich some good aass knifes

  • he is rich. he lives in japan. doh..

  • not all Japanese are rich there's many homeless tooo very many and im talking about skill he got in making this knifes not about hes poor in japan in Europe those are kick ass knifes in japan they regular knifes

  • I bought one of his nicer cooking knife and he gave me one of the knives he uses in the video for free, so the cost was about $28.00 for both knifes.

  • awesome!

does it really stay that sharp?

  • hi goo man is anyway to contact this knifemaker from abroad have you got any details with the knife ? ill appreciate any info .

    regards and all the best

  • @videoadventures WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT?

  • I'd be so buying that knife if I were there.

  • Do you have any more videos from the Osaka flea market?

  • Yes I just finished a new video of the temple and market, with more to come.
