  • BUCKETHEAD!!

  • Great techniques here. If only there was a website where full streaming video could be posted to present these techniques in motion, rather than photographs. Oh wait.

  • PENCHAK SILAT IS MUSLIM MARTIAL ART !! <3

KRAV MAGA ISAELI JEWS IS SELF DEFENSE !!!!!!

  • @Lounio1

Pentjak Silat CAN be Muslim, but it isn't always. I have more often seen Silat from Animistic belief systems. I have even seen CHRISTIAN Silat in its country of origin.

  • silat should go olimpic !!!!!

  • @zaq4810 No. Everytime a martial arts go competitive, it ends up destroying the art form, because of the restrictions you HAVE to apply to competitive combat.

  • Unfortunately, this system of "fighting" trains one to fight on the center-line and is no match for any Ko-ryu martial science.

  • @ToneKingGuitarMan

SOME forms of silat stress a center line, but MOST do not. You are perhaps thinking of Wing Chun Kung Fu from China.

  • @KnightsofTrueNorth Hmmm... then why is almost every example in this video stressing the center line? I took Pentjak Silat Serak for three years and then went on to take JuJutsu in the only place in America that still teaches the old ways... Silat was hardly effective. None of it even worked on the yellow belts in the dojo. Check out chikaraken (dot) com and read the pdf on KoRyu or even the pdf about what JuJutsu is.

  • @BlackBeltNumber3

Maybe you should define what you mean by center line, because if you are discussing the Wing Chun-esque conception of centerline theory, I don't see it. As I see it, Silat has more in common with Kali, than Wing Chun. In any case, I have no problem with Jujutsu, or the idea that Simonet could be taken out by a Jujutsu advocate. I would love to study some of the OLDE style Jujutsu.

But that said, You may have misunderstood the point I was making to someone else.

  • @KnightsofTrueNorth To some point I would agree with you that some forms of silat "stress" a center line however at the very heart of Silat are the "head-to-head" forms. I witnessed an Indonesian man (who studied Amerindo Silat for decades) take out Joseph Simonet in seconds. Why? Because he abandoned his Silat teaching and employed JuJutsu after only studying it for a few months. Unfortunately there are very few places left to learn JuJutsu anymore, at least not in America.

  • very true, but any form of fighting also helps against any thug rather than not knowing anything lol i wanna learn silat and krav magra but there arent any places that practice them or teach them unfortunately where im located : (

  • Silat , THE MOTHER OF ALL MARTIAL ARTS !! BLESS INDONESIA FOR IT !!

  • actually indonesian silat is made for killing people, most of south east asian country has silat of its own styles. indonesian use silat on guerrilla war with the dutch for hundred years, maybe thats why indonesian silat seems more brutal in their fighting system, other seems more beauty with locking and technique.

  • salam, all martial art disciple are brothers, dont make a comment like zerox5233.its not the silat name that make them good but the people who learned it make it look good...salam bro..

  • wow, nice move.He use chakar rimau(tiger style) but it does have it own weakness.try silat gayong style....its cooler than this.Serak cant fight properly...you can see he fight at ufc.....

  • He is showing you SERAK. I am currently taking SERAK classes with Maha Guru Victor De Thouars and it is a very brutal art but extremely effective. I have learned a lot from him and hope others will recognize SERAK is the best art that I have seen for the streets.

  • hey doesn't this guy also do some other style as well? so which is he teaching?

  • Yes he teaches Jute Kung Fu . Here he shows Silat which he encorporates into his Kung Fu system .

  • Lets see some video.

  • well i have to admit, silat is a dirty fighting technique, becuase its meant for self defence n has to be practical, the tournaments actually have set rules

  • its originaly came from indonesia

some call it pencak or pencak silat..

  • Where does this martial art come from??

  • @HwkEy Silat is from today's Indonesia. Created, utilized, and developed by the Indonesian for centuries. It was the Indonesians who spread it elsewhere.

Pencak Silat is just an umbrella term for all silat styles in Indonesia which derived from the original silat form.

  • @sempoyon82; @HwkEy silat not belong to a country...... it was malay's martial art.. different country different art of silat

  • SWWEEEEEEEEEEEET! I'm hoping to learn stuff like that

  • I am a former SpecOps marine, trained int he Army Combatives and MCMAP program as well as Ktrav maga, Sambo and Jukaikido, but I am also a Boxer and a Wrestler, greco and freestyle and let me tell you, Silat is as dirty as it can get. Mix Silat basics with wing chun, fut gar, wuzuquan, kosho shorei kempo, small circle jujutsu and kali and you get the best martial art.Oh wait, that was what they tried to do with Krav maga and SUCAM and succeeded.

  • you live in columbia, what do you know about silat?if i ask you what are the basic styles of grapping in kung fu?and silat aint dirty,it can pwn any other fighting styles, even submission

  • Silat is dirty, but i belive its basically as long as it works, it don't matter?

  • of course. All the martial arts with the rules are stupid, just for competition on TV or whatever..Silat is for real life fights, because when someone on the street attacks you all of the sudden, dumb shit like boxing or brazilian jujitsu isnt gonna help, silat teaches you EVERYTHING u need, from basic defense against punches and chokes, to how to disarm a gun pointed at ur head, to dealing with more than one person attackin you! and fuck it! i mean on the street, there are no rules!

  • yeah i agree to ur comment but saying that is also too blanketed of a statement. People need to find what works for their body type primarily. But in the end too much form is useless and too little is also useless unless. As Always its a matter of balance between, body shape, fitness, self-awareness, competence and mental attitude.

All I can say about u calling boxing stupid is ur lacking its understanding. competition boxing is silly real boxing will smash U just as quick as this will.

  • I disagree with Aydee...yes, Silat is down and dirty...anything that works is fairplay in Silat...fancy movements are only for show...

  • that stuff may work on somebody on the street but i bet it wouldn't work against a good wrestler.

  • come try me in malaysia in a real silat...

and dont forget to bring ur REAL WRESTLER...

  • Wrestlers are good against other wrestlers.. Because they know there own weaknesses, how is a wrestler going to predict the explosiveness or remove himself from tremendous vulnerability?. To wrestle, you have to get past striking range! into grappling range! :). Im assuming you said it wouldn't work on a good wrestler because you like to wrestle?, hehe well good luck to you sir :)

  • not hard to pass grappling range.

  • Street is different from cage fighting because you never know what to expect. And I suspect if most silat players thought they were outmatched and in danger, the ground would suddenly get very slippery.

Not to put too fine of a point on it.

  • i agree.

  • The real thing, that is AWESOME, BRUTAL 5/5. Good to see some practical and effective usage. Silat is a complete system, endless - I love it.

  • Use it wisely. A true pesilat will never misuse the silat knowledge he had learned. Never use it in competition against another style. No more UFC, K1 and stuffs like that. Be humble. That makes you a true "pendekar" (silat warrior).

  • Awesome, what a kickass style of martial art.
