That STi has about 300lbs on that Accord. Wanna' know how I know? Even with a V6, those Accords don't exceed 3000lbs. A 4 cylinder Accord w/auto is 2800lbs. Full suspension w/tune would make an Accord like that a monster, even w/FWD. Let's not get on the powerbands of both engines, which the Accord also has going for it. That Accord isn't turbo. Its a 3.0 V6 N/A w/VTEC so it doesn't have the lag that the Subaru does here. If you really think about the logistics, that Subaru never had a chance

Btw, that STi (stock) is about 3300lbs so I KNOW it's at a disadvantage when it comes to weight due to the AWD system & extra chassis/frame bracing.

Everybody that has RAN their mouth has shown nothing but that they are couch racer that just say the same thing the person before them. I've actually raced in these kinds of situations with an old Subaru I used to have years ago, so I know firsthand what a tuned car looks like when it performs :)
The sti is not made for this kind of corners, its bulky and heavy.. if you had a smaller car but powerful car (peugeot 205 gti6), more nimble, it could be a different story

@aznsnipeshow the best way to corner a turbo AWD car is to hit the apex wide and early and then use the AWD grip and boost to accelerate out of as much of the corner as possible (hence why hit the apex early).
Did the sti driver know the road at all? cuz if he did, then he just plain sucks. On the other hand, if he didnt know the road like the honda driver seemed to then he did pretty well.
@Jonathanbrown118 It could've helped but not by much. In the Vid the Sti never really had to brake cause he got too close to the Accord. So he was trying to catch up n that was his down fall.
@240WRsXti If you think about it AWD is FWD + RWD. Saying that FWD by its self is better than FWD + RWD is kinda dumb. The front wheels in AWD are pulling the car out of the turn just like FWD, but you also have the additional traction of the rear wheel pushing.

@DMAN280ZX STI would've passed around 4:30 to 4:33 but you also want to keep the safety gap as he was trying to maintain. The STI could've also been driven a little more faster from what I see. Now if your trying to prove a point by saying the Accord can out turn a STI I would say that you should try the AWD STI first. Feel how well the AWD handles.

Yes the Sti still produced more hp. Running you AC full blast can rob up to 15hp but usually less. So the Sti probably had about 290hp vs the accords 210 or so, but I do hope you understand that you can have a NA car with less hp then a turbo car and still be faster in a straight line with the lower hp NA car(but not necessarily in this case). Its fine to compare hp between two NA cars or between two forced induction cars but when you compare one of each hp doesnt directly relate to each other.
@sycosys91 It doesn't really matter how you compare the cars HP. NA vs Forced Induction. You're right NA cars can be faster than that of a forced induction car. Power:Weight Ratio. That's common sense. 9 out of 10 times an overall faster car will win in a drag. 1 being an idiot behind the faster car that can't drive. But drag racing isn't what this Vid' is about. This is about technique, driving experience, knowing the limits of your car; knowing ALL aspects of the car to favor the driver.

Please just tell the Sti driver to keep both hands on the wheel unless he needs to shift because, one handed steering on a canyon run can = serious damage and or injury. And two handed steering will help with many other aspects of drivning, such as better control and more feedback from the road. And in regards to the AC being on he was just asking because it robs power from your engine when its on, and can effect throttle respones.

Does it like disable the turbo and make the car only run with the 4 cylinder with low compresiion? Or are you still trying to find out how he couldn't keep up with the Accord? no offense but the guy in the accord was a much better driver, u came in the turns wrong and u always turned late and for some reason u under steered soooo much, i donnt know maybe u have an after market suspension or something.
Nice video, but I think a true test would be both drivers switching cars and doing it again. For some reason, I think the guy in the Honda was a lot smoother than the guy in the STi. Just my .02
Also, what are the mods for each car, HP, torque? It would give us a clearer picture of how the 2 cars stack up against each other. And also the driving experience of the 2 drivers would help too.
@Scorprex If both cars were heavily tuned it might of made a difference, but because they are mostly stock engines the STI has a huge advantage over the automatic Accord. Unless you think a cold air intake gives you a miraculous 1000hp. LOL! Accord=200hp - STI=300hp. Weight is about the same.
@DMAN280ZX Well, thank you for letting us all know now. It wasn't mentioned that both cars were close to stock in the description. And yes, I do know that a CAI won't net you 1000 hp. That's what all the stickers are for. ;) Anyway, my main point was to see the difference between the 2 drivers. *Edit* I just watched the in car footage from taospec and I have to say the driver definitely makes the difference here. Plus the fact that the 2001 Accord is about 1000 lbs lighter than the STi.
@Scorprex Actually, the STI curb weight is lighter STI=3263 and Accord=3329. Even if it was a 500lbs difference the STI still has the advantage over the Accord that is a 4 speed auto! hp per liter - power to weight. STI is by far a better car but it just depends what you gonna use it for. I this case not so much better. LOL. On a lighter note! (Hehe, get it) the stickers don't add anywhere near as much power than if you put a BIG rear spoiler that doesn't match the color of the car, AT ALL! LOL
Hi there @Scorprex! Taospec is my brother, and he does have far more experience than Obed (the STI driver) As for the car, it is lightly modified with the basics and has some upgrades to the suspension. It was definitely a battle of drivers. It seems Obed was relying too much on the power of the vehicle than skill.
That Accord is looking like it eats corners for breakfast lunch and dinner. The STi has the inherent disadvantage in handling though, being AWD. But I was furious at the driver for having those beads on the mirror. The most obnoxious noise ever

Those are some incredible roads, and the perfect cars to tame them! If I'm totally honest, the driver of the STI seems to man-handle it a bit, but that may just be the video making me think that. still the driver has some awesome skill, coupled with the car's incredible grip!!
Grate driving man, i'm getting the Honda Accord v6 coupe sometime this week and am stoked about it. @windsurf7772, they come at 260hp for the v6 and 190 for the 4 cylinder. What upgrades did you get? i have been saving up some extra money and besides putting a system in it i'm not sure what to upgrade.
@Joeisbombs the newer V6's come with 260hp. Tao's i believe is 200hp. The Accord is a '01. If you going to run the Accord a system just adds more weight. The Power to Weight ratio, more weight and not more power = a slower car.

Its not about slaming the gas and the brake, learn to transition better, I drive a boxster and you really learn how to feel the car out in it. I think maybe working on going a little slower and pick up speed. try a slower car first feel how the car wants to move not how you want to slide around the turns slowing yourself down. Just my .02

ok... im going to be nice and give you 3 tips on how you can improve your driving. you can either take my advice and try it, or talk smack back and be ignorant. its up to you... so here it goes.
1) remove the beads on your mirror, that can be very distracting
2)use BOTH hands to steer. it gives you better control of the car (obviously)
3)you must be smoother with your entry into the corners. this isnt an arcade machine. there are limits to the traction provided by your tires

No offense but you're probably looking at gross vehicle weight capacity.
The actual weight is 1200lbs lighter, at least, give or take.
4200 is about the weight of a luxury car or a small truck/van.
The drivers do have a lot to do with it but the Accord was just better prepped for this run & as a car, it had the advantage.
The Accord is most likely to beat the STi due to being tuned on top of having a good driver.

I'm not trying to say that the Accord CAN out turn a Sti even though it CLEARLY did. I’ve driven the Sti, EVO VIII and an EVO X. Just because the car has the handling capabilities doesn't mean that people that own those cars know how to use it. THAT is the POINT!!

Yes the Sti still produced more hp. Running you AC full blast can rob up to 15hp but usually less. So the Sti probably had about 290hp vs the accords 210 or so, but I do hope you understand that you can have a NA car with less hp then a turbo car and still be faster in a straight line with the lower hp NA car(but not necessarily in this case). Its fine to compare hp between two NA cars or between two forced induction cars but when you compare one of each hp doesnt directly relate to each other.

That's common sense. 9 out of 10 times an overall faster car will win in a drag. 1 being an idiot behind the faster car that can't drive. But drag racing isn't what this Vid' is about. This is about technique, driving experience, knowing the limits of your car; knowing ALL aspects of the car to favor the driver.

Please just tell the Sti driver to keep both hands on the wheel unless he needs to shift because, one handed steering on a canyon run can = serious damage and or injury. And two handed steering will help with many other aspects of drivning, such as better control and more feedback from the road. And in regards to the AC being on he was just asking because it robs power from your engine when its on, and can effect throttle respones.

@willsonnss I kind off don't understand the ? about the a/c. Does it make that big of a difference if the a/c is on or off? Does it like disable the turbo and make the car only run with the 4 cylinder with low compresiion? Or are you still trying to find out how he couldn't keep up with the Accord? If you reply to this, thanks cause i'm confused. I'm not sure on the driving mode, but i'm sure he wasn't set to snow driving.

Nice video, but I think a true test would be both drivers switching cars and doing it again. For some reason, I think the guy in the Honda was a lot smoother than the guy in the STi. Just my .02
Also, what are the mods for each car, HP, torque? It would give us a clearer picture of how the 2 cars stack up against each other. And also the driving experience of the 2 drivers would help too.

@Scorprex If both cars were heavily tuned it might of made a difference, but because they are mostly stock engines the STI has a huge advantage over the automatic Accord. Unless you think a cold air intake gives you a miraculous 1000hp. LOL! Accord=200hp - STI=300hp. Weight is about the same.

@DMAN280ZX Well, thank you for letting us all know now. It wasn't mentioned that both cars were close to stock in the description. And yes, I do know that a CAI won't net you 1000 hp. That's what all the stickers are for. ;) Anyway, my main point was to see the difference between the 2 drivers. *Edit* I just watched the in car footage from taospec and I have to say the driver definitely makes the difference here. Plus the fact that the 2001 Accord is about 1000 lbs lighter than the STi.

@Scorprex Actually, the STI curb weight is lighter STI=3263 and Accord=3329. Even if it was a 500lbs difference the STI still has the advantage over the Accord that is a 4 speed auto! hp per liter - power to weight. STI is by far a better car but it just depends what you gonna use it for. I this case not so much better. LOL. On a lighter note! (Hehe, get it) the stickers don't add anywhere near as much power than if you put a BIG rear spoiler that doesn't match the color of the car, AT ALL! LOL

Taospec is my brother, and he does have far more experience than Obed (the STI driver) As for the car, it is lightly modified with the basics and has some upgrades to the suspension. It was definitely a battle of drivers. It seems Obed was relying too much on the power of the vehicle than skill.

Grate driving man, i'm getting the Honda Accord v6 coupe sometime this week and am stoked about it. @windsurf7772, they come at 260hp for the v6 and 190 for the 4 cylinder. What upgrades did you get? i have been saving up some extra money and besides putting a system in it i'm not sure what to upgrade.

@Joeisbombs the newer V6's come with 260hp. Tao's i believe is 200hp. The Accord is a '01. If you going to run the Accord a system just adds more weight. The Power to Weight ratio, more weight and not more power = a slower car.

Its not about slaming the gas and the brake, learn to transition better, I drive a boxster and you really learn how to feel the car out in it. I think maybe working on going a little slower and pick up speed. try a slower car first feel how the car wants to move not how you want to slide around the turns slowing yourself down. Just my .02

ok... im going to be nice and give you 3 tips on how you can improve your driving. you can either take my advice and try it, or talk smack back and be ignorant. its up to you... so here it goes.
1) remove the beads on your mirror, that can be very distracting
2)use BOTH hands to steer. it gives you better control of the car (obviously)
3)you must be smoother with your entry into the corners. this isnt an arcade machine. there are limits to the traction provided by your tires

They are 200 hp standard and hadle really well.. give this guy in the wrx some slack.. the accord v6 is no slow car, but nun of you guys would know cause you have never driven this one have you?? i can drive and i know it would not be that easy to try and pass a modded v6 accord around corners in this wrx..
