haha i went to car week this year all night people where doing burn outs on the street by my hotel....the cops sure must of had a fun time that night they where pulling people over every other miniute for doing burn outs
They have been known to be assholes like at any car show. '08 and esp '09 they backed off ALOT. It goes both ways: someone who does a 10 sec fish-tailing burnout deserves a ticket, on the other hand, the cops shoudn't bother some guy for just nailing it 1 second. But yeah, they backed off, we'll see what Mother's Day wknd has in store...GET DOWN THERE!!!!
My wife and I are going down in May. I think were going to take her car. It's just a nice street car that doesn't really stand out and doesn't sound near as healthy as my car. I just plan on showing the car on the boards and then going back to the house, parking it and then watch everyone else drive around. No cruising for me.
I hear ya man, I'd be a little paranoid about being falsly accused of a burnout I didn't do. But definately cool that you're coming. Motels in the Crest are usually mostly vacant, and offer great deals. We're trying to get some momentum going, having more folks cruise the Crest. More room and less idiots standing in the streets. And The Bayview Inn (at the lake) would be an excellent stop/meeting place for some of the cruisers. BTW, what kind of car does she have?
It's a 1972 Camaro SS 350 (Ascott Blue). I resto-modded it. 331ci pump gas friendly, S/R Torquer heads, hydraulic roller, 570 street avenger through 3 chmbr mufflers. A Keisler 5spd Hotchkiss susp. and 17" AR Torque Thrust gray spokes. It's not super fast but it's a blast to drive.
Hey got your reply in my inbox, but couldn't send to you. An Ascott blue '72 Camaro? Great color. Next rebuild, get those heads ported, bigger carb, etc...
327's run real nice, and ain't the typical "three-fitty". Hope to see the car in May.
Actually I already have a car like you're describing. It's a 73 Nova with a 355, 13:1 compression, Oliver crank, SRP pistons, .630 solid roller, Dart Pro 1 heads, ATI TH350 w/brake, 4,500 stall, and 4:56 with a spool. It's a 3,400lb car and quickest E.T. was a 11.05 at 122. It just won't break that 10 second barrier. That's why we wanted to build the Camaro the way we did. Reply back if you want. If not Hopefully we'll see you down there. BTW what car do you have?
What a ride! I'll bet it's a real thrill to drive. Low 11s is a hell of a ride. The '73-4 Novas should get a little more respect. I have an '84 T/A, mild 350 (low 13's) hoping to have it running for the show. i'll be there tho. The guy who got me interested in helping increase the cruising has a '71 Nova. I think he's building a 327 for it , by the way.
That would be me, and your close, it's a 307, which is really a 327 with a slightly smaller bore. ((Not to be confused with the 305, which is a 350 with a MUCH smaller bore.)) Prob won't have the Nova ready for May, but Sept lookin real good! But yeah dude, I'd like to see that '72 Camaro! ....See you in May!
Yeah dude, I'm looking forward to coming in May. Been spreading the word to fellow gear-heads in Harford, Co , Md. They're for the most part all about the OC show, but a couple seem interested. I used to do OC but got tired of only 1 hwy, sometimes taking 45min to get from Hooter's to the motel on 8th st. F THAT!!! I don't care if OC has more cars.
