there are very practical applications for this especially when it comes to forensics. We have done so many experiments and studies on carrion bugs (blow flies, etc.) in the decomposition of animals, humans. With and without clothes, puncture wounds and the rate of decomposition. I'm guessing that they could use this method to see if different parts of the sea are actually depleting in oxygen levels due to chemicals and such.
It's probably a easier method to use compared to actually going to the depths and measuring it. =/

there are very practical applications for this especially when it comes to forensics. We have done so many experiments and studies on carrion bugs (blow flies, etc.) in the decomposition of animals, humans. With and without clothes, puncture wounds and the rate of decomposition. These studies in the OCEAN have started only in the past 12 years or so. Very interesting! :P

I'll tell you what. We have some common ground. I don't think animals should be indiscriminately destroyed. And I'm all for some better day when we can just culture meat from stem cells. Neither of us is going to convince the other of the morality of using animals for food, though, because we are starting from different principles.

(cont.) And another thing. No, the "murder" of animals is not wrong and should not be stopped. Face it, animals were killing and eating each other before murder came about as a concept. Animals "murder" humans all the time, but we use weapons to our defense. It is part of life, we developed weaponry to defend, compete, and hunt for ourselves. Spikes, sharp teeth, claws, and use of tools (primates do this as well) are similar and normal. There is a difference useful killings, and murder.

It IS ignorant to eat meat (kill) when it isn't necessary. Let's say there is a man starving and he has no way of obtaining food; so he eats his dog to stay alive. While it is wrong to kill anything, it was a necessary wrong for this man. The same can be said if the dog is starving. You are using animals as a base for moral theory. If we did this then it would be acceptable to eat our young or steal food from others. We have to look above and beyond instinct to figure out what is right and wrong

In fact, I bet you everybody on youtube right now could change their lifestyle and survive perfectly fine. Actually, no. Yes we can survive on it, however, as omnivores, we are built to eat both meat and vegetation, and while I don't promote needless killing, when there is a purpose it is allowable and not immoral, so long as you kill in a method causing minimal pain and killing the creature quickly. Meat is a source of protein, among other nutrients, only found naturally in decent amounts in meat. While I'm not trying to tell you to eat meat, I'm saying it is natural and moral if WE choose to.
