  • Most people call us arrogant, because we are raised to have an opinion and to stand up. If you dont want an answer dont ask us a question. And we separate daily life from our life with friends. It´s very simple.

  • so american our loud where loud oh wow

  • 4:16 what? doing their native sport scatplay?

  • im a germand and NOT arrogant

  • sagt eddi der in der stadt als ritter rumrennt

  • What are the germans like what are the british like what are the dutch like...BULLSHIT AT ALL, we´re all people who live in one continent, british, german, dutch, french, spanish, italian and so on, Ich gebe einen Dreck auf Vorurteile!!!

  • Bill should have cleaned his teeth they are hell yellow =P

  • Bill is right.

  • @1:05 wot are germans lyk? strtait :D lol gotta luv german accent

  • 2 words: Anglo Saxons!

We Germans are your Mother and Father!

PPL who was in Germany are loving us! All other are just stupid and never talked to one!

  • @oXbOxr00X

english people have nothing to do with anglo-saxons

north germans and danes are anglo-saxons

english people are a mix of french and spaniards

  • Love the comment @ 5:56 So true.

  • Es ist sehr interessant, wie stereotyp Deutsche gesehen werden...it is interesting how stereotypically Germans are considered...

  • @noob10192 that's great you noob

  • @noob10192 do you have that on video

  • ...in first line we are Europeans and Friends....love and respekt and nice greetings from Lüneburg Germany

  • and what are brits like? imperalist dutch bags

  • Germans like chuck norris jokes and breadrolls....

  • @noob10192 Take in a step into my shower, my foreign friend ;)

  • @noob10192

you're just not a person one should take seriously. stupid comments that create racism, and that the world doesn't need. just stop talking!

  • can you imagine if these people went around asking what the Jews are like?? they'd probably be arrested!

  • Obvious racism just boggles my mind. Can these people not hear themselves talk?

  • "not as friendly as the french" :DD haha good joke !

  • @FcBayerin

I've lived among the french for ten years, and they are shit. Anyone that thinks the french are friendly doesn't have a clue about them. A bunch of stinky, arrogant ultranationalistic douche bags the french. The Germans are infinitely better than the former

  • What a question, put out there to cause apprehension, tension and dissention! Any group of people will fall on a distribution of characteristics, so putting labels on a group will always not describe huge numbers of them. As the one wise person in the video said, "Stereotypes."

  • I am a German who lived abroad for many years and I think Germans are oftentimes arrogant, unfriendly, short-tempered and brusk. No wonder there is no service culture in this country like in the US or UK. However, Germans tend to be also more frank than the Brits and the Americans and usually will give you their honest opinion about sth instead of beating around the bush and engaging in small talk. I never thought national stereotypes were true, but to some extent they actually are :)

  • also, germans have no sense of humour.

  • @sidewinderAUT

Yeah, that's true. Nobody has no sense of humour. There ain't even no such thing so how could anyone have it, right? I also think that the Czechs are the ugliest bastards in the world but at least they have got some sense of humour AND marijuana is practically legal in Czechia even if it's still a bit illegal, so they are cool. They also have Václav Klaus which is cool, too, by the way it's pronounced "vah-tsluff". Lear some Czech before you start picking on the good ol Germans!!!

  • @sidewinderAUT

Yeah, that's true, I think that nobody really has no sense of humour. I also think that the bloody Czechs are even worse. But at least they have got some sense of humour AND marijuana is practically legal in Czechia, even if it's still a bit illegal there, so they are cool. They also have Václav Klaus which is cool, too, by the way it's pronounced "vah-tsluff". Learn some Czech before you start picking on my friends the Germans! I don't get it! Was I being sarcastic or what? Yes.

  • The people in the vid, wich said bad things about the germans never met any before, i think.

  • Hmm Germans think that we swedes are abit to organized :)

  • The biggest group of americans with european ancestry are actually of german origin. Interesting facts

  • Cindy is fat and ugly,

wonder what she'd feel if she was black LOL

  • @HLPaulJ I agree with you, it´s the language and how the language sound in foreign ears. I am german and i never understood why other countries thought we would be arrogant, till i watched an old charly chaplin movie were he spoke in fake german. His words didn´t make sense but it sounded very rude and arrogant. For me british english sound very arrogant too but when i learned it and understood it the language ( or the accent ) changed. So it´s about knowing a language....

  • dependabel... well just take e ride with the german railways and u see thats not realy true XP

  • @mrsebumatica only someone from switzerland could say that...oh wait.

but after all our railways is still amongst the "most dependable". i'm fine with it.

  • Stereotyoes. Some have a good portion of truth in them and some are thoroughly false. Germans are mostly nice and obliging people, just tend to have a reserved attitude towards strangers, which is why most visitors would say we are cold. Get to know us better and I tell you we will open up. As for the rude ones, well, there are dicks in any country, but they are the minority and will grow up eventually. Want to get along with a German? Be kind to him and he'll be kind to you. It's that simple :)

  • @HLPaulJ Very informative. Thank you.

  • @PureBredGerman i'm swedish, Jag är svensk :D

  • Your comment is very interesting. I've studied German for about two years and have some German friends, but I've never thought about the language that way before. I tried to explain to one German friend why Germans might be thought of as arrogant or haughty. She understood my point, but when I asked her "why do Germans sometimes say things that way?" she couldn't explain why. she said she honestly didn't know. So thanks for giving me a possible answer.

    @HLPaulJ

  • I'am positive surprised of the British People. Thank you for your all in all friendly answers. From your newspapers we hear to much the Panzer, Blitzkrieg and Hunns, but I got to correction because this we hear from our -Sun- called - Bild-. Same stupid shit. And for the guys which discuss what English, Dutch and other German - old German people come from, read Des Teufels General...The Devils General from Dürrenmatt. Who knows how many mixtures Europe was made from ? Not me....as a german.

  • @Kamal900 Dutch is very similiar to german

  • @GermanAuthority so the angles and the saxons were not germanic tribes because you say so? lol on that basis i can say the chinese are not asians. May i suggest you change your name as your current name really dont suit you.

  • @GermanAuthority

R1b is higher in Bulgaria than in Poland

R1a is lowest in the Balkans in Albanians & The Albanians are the biggest closers in the Balkans

R1a is highest in the British Isles in Scotland & The Scots are the most superior in the British Isles

R1a is lowest in Iberia in Basques & Basques are the biggest losersi n Iberia

R1a is lowest in Scandanavia in Finland & the Finns are the biggest losers in Scandanavia

  • @GermanAuthority

Germans are mostly R1b haplogroup like Spaniards, Italians, Portuguese, English, French ect

ITalians have more R1b than Germans

Spaniards have more R1b than English or Dutch do

R1b people are not white people

    You are Arabs

If not for Slavic genes Germans would look just like Italians

Germans look pretty close to Italians as is

  • @GermanAuthority

German language, Facial features & R1b haplogroup is much more like the Dutch than Swedes

Swedes are more like us Slavs in looks & genes that is why they have more R1a than R1b

  • @GermanAuthority

Both in person & Online I have alot more trouble telling Dutch from German than German from Swedish.

Dutch looks alot like German in spelling & sounds quite a bit like it

  • @GermanAuthority

    So you don't understand English?

So do you use google translate?

  • @GermanAuthority

German is certainly much closer to Dutch than to Swedish language.

YOu love near the Danish border you probably speak alot of Scandanavian

  • @GermanAuthority

English is a Germanic language closest to Dutch,

But, It is not fully Germanic it is partially Latin Based with some French in it too.

But, Then again so is German when you compare German to Swedish you can see German is also much closer to Latin Languages as well.

  • @6Sterben6Sterben6

    no its closest to frisian

  • @eaststandred

Yeah English is closest to Frisian but Frisian is really a dutch language

  • @6Sterben6Sterben6 When I went to school I had a few Frisian lessons Frisian sounds a little bit like Enlish

  • @6Sterben6Sterben6 NO !!! Dutch is an unique language !...Frisian is another Germanic language !!!

  • The SIL Ethnologue lists 53 different Germanic languages.

Number of native speakers: 560 million

    Total speakers: 2 billion

  • @eaststandred the English Language is closest to the Frisian Language

  • @Domenek82

    thats what I said

  • @GermanAuthority

whilst part of what you say is correct the rest is wrong the closest language spoken toady is Frisian which is spoken in north holland. Whilst we have the same stucture as the french language we share more words with the german language. We share very little in common with celtic languages you would know this if you had heard them spoken.

  • @GermanAuthority Call it what you want mate. But they have plenty in common!

  • @GermanAuthority Nothing in common? English is a Germanic language. They have plenty in common, i.e hand, arm, finger, haus (house), maus (mouse) all pronounced the same and have the same meaning. Stupid statement from you more like!

  • @GermanAuthority well tell me about it then?

  • @GermanAuthority Okay, at the time of the migration Angeln was a part of Denmark. If you believe i have something else that is wrong, please do enlighten me.

  • @GermanAuthority During the American war of independence Britain employed many many Germans to go there and fight on the side of the British. After the war many many Germans stayed there, so yes, there are many Americans who do have the right to call themselves German.

  • @MsPsychophil Judging from the age of the video, I would venture to guess this was a few years after the Berlin Wall came down or possibly when the decision was at hand to join or not join the European Union... That's what I'm gathering..

  • @ryapickinup well Germany was cofounder of the EU in 1954

  • I miss Germany was there for three years ;) I had good old time there and enjoyed the architecture. The coolest thing about Germany is the people.

  • It was a great country to visit and I had no problem with them. The one problem I did have with a few of them ironically happend here in the States. They were arrogant and I almost punched one and really wanted to go Audie Murphy on him. If you don't know about Audie Murphy, look him up and then you will know what I meant. But like every country, you get good and bad.

  • americans FAIL

  • Not French

  • quite interesting that the british have a better opinion about us than the americans, I always thought that its vice versa, because british cities burned and not americans.

everyone who have met some of my folks said nothing bad about us, thats great. someone below me claimed, that germans are ver proud, but I think its the exact opposite (or we barely show that we're proud),

  • @MrWraxter

I took it the other way. To me it seemed the people with British accents were the ones who said "Arrogant". I don't recall any responses from American accented speakers saying that. A couple said "a little confused now". What were they referring to? Is there currently some turmoil there?

  • @TheVille1980 The video looks not up to date, maybe it was filmed in the early 90s after reunification?!?!

  • "There are not bad at football - unfortunately."

    Yessss!

    :-)

  • Germans are not very emotional ?? I think they're they just don't show it^^

  • I like Germany its a clean country, with no litter on the streets. Not like the UK the streets are filled with litter and chewing gum. I also like German beer.

  • Hooray for stereotyping? Of course no two people are the same even if they come from the same country.

  • Germans give me the impresion that they are boring, self-centered and live on the same wavelength. They are also hard-working folk with no life, but they are emotional and not all are racists and anti-semitic monsters. They have a good side too, discipline and many children have golden-blond hair, blue eyes.

  • I sometimes Wonder, since there don`t seem to be negative Stereotypes, except the Nazithing and "Hairy" (which amused me).

  • What kind of Germans are they thinking of? Northerners? Southerners? Ossis? Wessis? Swiss? What, exactly, is a German? A Bavarian and a Prussian, for example, are quite different and should never be confused.

  • as a german i love this :D

  • @BeyondOrwell What do you think of the British?

  • @WAYNE1977100

i don't like the english football fans (the loud aggressive drunken ones) but the rest of gb is ok i guess ^^

  • I watched this video before and re-watched today,

I wonder why Maria (last person to be asked what are the Germans like) (I think she's russian) would say I won't comment on that?

    Any ideas?

  • @eduardite she is not the only one, the guy on the beach reacts similar. but i guess the answer to your question is pretty obvious. she doesn't dare to say what she thinks in front of the cam.

  • ummm does nayone remeber germany and england have been in good relations up till the world wars, any one remeber seven year war, rome, etc

  • We all should behave like germans.

  • Arrogant, Ignorant, eat to much, drink to much! Agressive robots, un-organized lazy!

  • @sherp2u1 thanks...im german^^

  • i cant speak very friendly and welcoming with all the nations.ok organised civilizated are suitable, serious, but they are machine like or they keep out the beautiful part of things.i had a boyfriend there and shortly after my turn in Romania, he was prisoned for stealing robbery, thief.imagine how i felt.ok we all mistake but was a weird situation, too misterious persons they hiden so much things.

  • the germans are like goethe, goebbels, merkel, hitler, schroder, wihlem II, strauss

  • @fxPxx

Do not forget Bach, Geiserich and Cajus Gracchus!

  • Great idea to ask english people about us germans!!! Maybe you ask better the jewish people or the polish or - the Austrians!

THE germans do not exist, but I would agree: we are stiff, arrogant, (cranky-)precise, efficient in comparison to our neighbours - and thats the point: we are not like the drunk-danish, the inventious-polish, the fierce-bohemians, the selfloving-french or the nazi-austrians. We are that crap history made of us

  • @11Kralle Or you ask swiss people. I few of them don´t like (or hate) germans .

  • @Gott2070

And thats typical for this kind of historic relations! I never met any german who did actually hate the swiss... indeed, they are slower and more self-comforted, but theres no way for a german to hate them. At least, their assumptions or image of germans derives from our tourists: fat, loud and annoying to the whole surrounding of their holidays - thank GOD, those people go out on vacation in stead of coming to my beautyful city.

  • 2:50 mr. scott: "i ought not to say i think ..." :-D this is what i as a german imagine british humor to be.

  • arrogant ? we are not arrogant , :-(

    thats not fair

  • What are the Germans like?... Awsome

  • Comment removed

  • Your videos are very useful. Thanks for your videos. But some videos don't have subtitles. We are not able to follow them. Can you provide the videos with subtitles. Bye. Take care.

  • haha emotionless and no sense of humor,......imagination.

  • cette vidéo est tellement bête, les stéréotypes des allemands sont fous! j'aime bien les allemands, et les français? nous ne sommes pas du tout gentils...haha

les americans et les anglais...les deux ne savent rien!

  • Interesting to see, yet senseless. Most participants only tell stereotypes and prejudices. Best example: "I don't know any, but they are very arrogant." What's the basis for that comment?

  • 1) why wimen need support of their friends in order to have an opinion.

    2) how the fuck somebody will be friendly if you dont give'em the chance to.

    3) arrogant? from an english? that's stupid.

    4) french are way colder than germs if we are doing steriotypes.

    5) am not german.

    6) sorry for my english.

  • It's funny to hear other people say we're proud and arrogant. I think that's what the most people in the world like. But I just want to say:

We're not emotionless or homorless, we aren't ;)

  • normally you always see americans telling german stereotypes up and down so it's quite joyful to see that the britains are way more open minded and ... ye i dont like to say that but...more intelligent. respect from germany!

  • I am german and it´s very interesting to hear what other people think about us. Everytime I asked someone the said thinks like "Lederhose" and "Sauerkraut".

But the problem is that many peolpe around the world think, that everyone in a country is like they think, everyboby is unique.

  • @PinkLemon411

Not everybody in germany is a "Bayer" :-D

    Hessen rocks!!!

    p.s.: sry for my english!!!!

  • @Sweettigerlilly I am no "Bayer", but many people think that everybody in Germany is like a "Bayer"

  • @PinkLemon411

Thats right..... and I hate it :-(

Bayern is not Germany :-D the most german people don`t like Byern :-D

  • @Sweettigerlilly

    Yeah, thats right =D

  • The Germans are hilarious people always making me laugh.

  • @ItalianKid20 I know I didn't at all agree on the person who said they're "humorless"... I think they have an excellent sense of humor! xD

  • @ItalianKid20

You are always welcome to do so! Laugh your heart out - you seem to need it!

  • why do so many people think we're arrogant :D

  • @MrAaahh1 your not! I'm half german half american! I mean my dad's side german but anyway but their nice helpfull people never arrogant! I mean it seems to mean when ever your lets say oh Spain and a spanish person went on youtube and said ppl from another country was arrogant well how does that make Spain look? you know?

  • yes we are very arrogant and fucking nazis and all stuff like that :D

haha we are very nice and lazy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not busy

  • I'm German and I'm everything they said I was. haha! Although I don't think that there's a huuuuge difference between Germans and the British. After all we're kind of related to each other...

  • just want to say something about the stereotype "germans are rude / not friendly or whatever":

Actually we are not more or less friendly than the rest of the world, we are just more reserved than others. It seems to be part of our mentality. If you have the time to get to know us, you will be surprised. In a positive way.

People who say "germans are rude" never really got to know one. Or met one of the black sheeps.

  • "what are the germans like?"....."genocidal maniacs..?!!."

  • Germans are just people. You cant just label them like this o.o.

  • @me0and0my0rejects This vid showed mostly stereotypes. You can't label all Americans as ignorant or all British as very, very polite, as well- but that's the all-round picture that everyone has and it seems horribly hilarious to me ;D

  • seems like the people who have actually been to germany and met the people, always have to say nice things about germans. the other ones probably haven't met any german, ever.

  • Been to Germany a few times and found them friendly, helpful and generally decent people. The french are the oppisite. My two favourite countries to visit on mainland europe are Germany and Spain. Nice people.

  • Once in a year all German & Brits meet on Mallorca Island /Spain.

I'm not sure who drinks more beer and behaves worse there *lol*

  • lol patriotic and confused wtf

  • How dare they say we Germans have no emotion!

We show a whole lot of emotions:

    - Hate

    - Anger

    - Rage

    - Hate

  • Very interesting. Many of the Europeans who were interviewed preceded their comments by saying that they didn't actually know any Germans. Whereas, most of the Americans jumped in with an immediate assessment. Funny to hear the Americans say that they were "German"...and all give the same answer. :~)

  • @Gaeladore :: Yeah, Americans are funny that way. When Americans ask me if I am Italian, they are thinking of my ancestors - in my case, 4 teeanagers who all arrived from Italy in 1912 and 1913, i.e., my 4 grandparents who I never knew. This makes me "Italian", but I only speak French as a 2nd language.

  • @realenglish1 yeah that pisses me off how many americans claim to be 'irish' or 'italian' or whatever when they were born and bred in america, ive never understood why they do that.

  • @dellboid just imagine you live in a country where there was "no culture" (leaving the natives out) some hundred years ago. you'll feel the need to find your roots. and many americans never leave the US so when they are amongst each other, it's enough to say "i'm half irish, 10 percent italian and so on". that's my theory.

  • @iwantahat you have a point, but for me they can dress it up as much as they want, theyre american and should be proud of it.

  • @Gaeladore Americans may call themselves Germans in an ethnic way. My ethnicity is Irish and Dutch, but my nationality is American. The only ethnic Americans are the Natives.

  • @Gaeladore There is a very good reason for this that Europeans sometimes dont realize. In America, even after a cultural group has been "Americanized" and has lost their original language, they have tendencies they keep, and in some ways they are more noticeable because we have so many sub-cultures to compare it to.

  • Clean, hospitable, make good friends, blunt (in an oddly endearing way).

  • "arrogant ..very arrogant" .. "and you agree?" ... "yea i do, i never really met, so i don't know" .... #FAIL

  • This is getting out of hand. I just removed a racist remark that made me sick.

  • @realenglish1 ikr i meant 2 vote up ahh

  • @realenglish1

true result genetics give Saxon the inhabitants of islands for visible 80 % to France to Bretons and basques with R-M167 / SRY2627 AND R-L21 / M222 and for about 10 % in with R-U106 / L11* and about indigenous European 10 % I2a.

  • they never say how we, the germans, really are....but you can't say anything general about "the germans", because you cannot judge people by the country they live in :P

Would be interesting to see what these people thing nowadays :D

  • Good luck Germany! You doing very well at soccer!

  • the beer part is right^^

  • After the World Cup in 2006 said many people - Oh. The Germans are humorous and very friendly.

  • @asus575

yeah, we tricked them all :-)

  • Comment removed

  • I went to Germany a few years ago, and I found the people very friendly and the culture wonderful. They are gentle and welcoming: they try hard to overcome their stereotype, and I love everything about them.

  • @RCD503 what a nice comment!

  • @RCD503 that is so nice to hear, sometimes I really worry about the picture other people have about us, but I think, Europe has changed and with it the picture about us. :)

  • "I think they kinda love themselves right now..."

    "Could be a problem"

    LOOOOOOOOL :D

  • The Germans are like everyone else, only because of stupid stereotypes do people believe any different.

"Germans are arrogant, no YOU are dickwit".

  • @ThreeLionsSam good said my friend. i see that your footballfan. see u sunday if you know whta i mean^^ may the better one will win

  • @jimtheripper

Look forward to it mate, good luck to us both!

  • Yapp.. I am confused :P

  • American English is hopelessly corrupted. Words can mean whatever one wants them to mean. Read any corporate memo, listen to any denizen of the ghetto, watch a political show, overhear the awful butchered English in the shopping malls. Ideas of any weight cannot be carried by American English. Attention spans are short because the mind is overloaded from translating the endless slang, euphemisms, and political jargon into usable thoughts for conversation. The Tower of Babel rises again!

  • @InfiniteMushroom

I see what your saying and I agree to an extent. But the butchering of English is largely a cultural affair. Blacks tend to make up words on a daily basis, while most every other race sticks to the structured language yet creates the occasional slang word in relation to some sort of event/inside joke/likeness/etc.

English is a "living language," it's constantly evolving, gaining new words and addition meanings (continued)

  • @SKoGoMoney

to existing words, which is kind of cool, but it doesn't work if you're not "in the loop." For example: "Yo dawg, spit dat goo' shit on me ma'" would be offensive to anyone who doesn't know that means "tell me some good news."

I hate that it's a sincere waste of the greatest language in existence.

English is also really cool because it has bits of many other (probably every) languages in it. Though it's primarily Germanic, it has Latin, Slavic, etc. influence as well.

  • Hilarious Clip, nowadays of course.

  • Ja ich bin Deutsche und es stimmt vieles was sie gesagt hab okay manches hab ich nicht verstanden aber ja vieles stimmt
