For the record- endure enough emotional & mental trauma in a war zone and you can go into a severe form of PTSD where you can have a psychotic break. You lose touch with reality. If this happens, it depends on the individual as to whether they can recover their sanity. Losing limbs etc is horrible. Losing your mind is horrible. Suffering is subjective- so none of us can declare which is the worse situation. Even a soldier. Everyone of them suffer differently & I am sure their opinions vary..

They changed the definition of *shell shock* over the years.The initial belief was someone was near a bomb (or bombing) that went off & they sustained physiological damage.MD's also believed the brain literally rattled in the skull when this occured.
