  • Is it difficult for your neck adjustments to hold if you have a lot of stress?

  • Chiropractics was not being evaluated for the validity of all the fantastic claims it makes. It is these claims and the number of patients who have been injured my neck & back manipulation when, its no more effective than physiotherapy. I for one would not put myself at risk with no proof of extra benefit. My personal experience has been that, Chiropractors try to convince patients that, manipulation is something one needs from birth to death, as it keeps money coming in. Yoga is better & cheap.

  • Since manipulation in the UK BEAM study included chiropractic, osteopathic, and physiotherapy professions, to say it proved chiropractics is best is misleading. The study also states An economic evaluation in British primary care found that physiotherapy led exercise classes were less expensive and more effective than general practice care alone. Furthermore, the BMJ states, A Swedish study found no differences in costs or outcomes between physiotherapy and chiropractic manipulation.

  • You sent me the following: They did the study you are talking about in the UK It is called the UK BEAM trial. I don't have a link handy, but you can do a search for it. Chiropractic was found to be the most cost effective, chiro plus exercise the most effective overall, and "best practices of medicine" fared the poorest by a substantial margin.

According to BMJ Publishing Group Ltd which I assume is the British Medical Journal, manipulation included chiropractic, osteopathic, and physiotherapy.

  • The claims the chiropractors make are passed down from their educators from the beginnings of

chiropractics. We all know how things get distorted over time, and without peer review, or case studies way back when, it fails as evidence for scientific proof. You need to take 1000 people all with the same exact condition and treat one group with chiropractics, one group with physical therapy, one group with yoga, and one group goes untreated as a control group. Then you may have something.

  • The first time I saw a chiropractic student at the school, they x-rayed my spine and correctly diagnosed my preexisting scoliosis. However, when I left and came back after a few years, no x-ray was done. Both times, they failed to diagnose my Arnold Chairi Malformation. With 15mm of my cerebellum herniated down into my spine, they could have easily caused harm. All the students I had work on me made outlandish claims about chiropractics ability to cure practically any diseases like cancer.

  • As someone who was had begun to practice yoga shortly before going to a chiropractor after not going to one in years, I was surprised to discover that, most of the positions they out you in are vary similar to yoga poses. The main difference is, your usually lying down and, someone else is moving you in and out of the positions. The main difference between yoga and chiropractics is, no adjustments to the spine. I quit going after the chiropractic student working on me made outlandish claims.

  • kind of hard to believe in this..

  • So does that thing is suppose to help the back more?

  • I think that the Palmer method better Logan school in the method of adjustment? What do you think of spinal decompression for the C4 area. What about True back ? I just got one . Any info appreciated dfletcher47

  • Yes, actually it does do lots of things.

Talk to someone who was in pain before one of these was used on them.

You are too ignorant to understand the skeletal system of the human body so I won't even waste my time.

  • No they aren't.

    You are uninformed.

If you did a little research you would find that it is much more dangerous to go see a medical doctor.

  • I am not uninformed. The back work is useless but pretty much harmless also. The neck work is quite dangerous. I do not know what you mean when you wrote "much more dangerous to go see a medical doctor"- but, yes, a chiropractor is safe, for me anyway. Because I intend to never see one! Therefore, a chiropractor cannot hurt me.

I wish chiropractors would be put in prison for practicing medicine without a license. They are a bunch of creeps.

  • Please write to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, State Capitol Building, Sacramento, CA 95814 and request that he veto SB-801. You may also contribute to Californians to Protect Chiropractic Patient Rights, 1600 Sacto' Inn Way, Ste. 106, Sacto' CA 95815. Thank you for your action!

  • i like that you referenced oswestry and roland morris as these are common tools i use to objectively measure restoration of function. I take it you are a chirpractor or in chiropractic medicine?

  • So would you say that in any manipulation cavitation is the desired response?

  • i meant anatomical mechanism...i have patho pn the brain...so how about even deepr into the explaination...what gas is exchanged? And if this is the case when you do a manipulation but dont get a cavitation sound does that mean you don gap the joint? Good questions huh?

  • You hit on alot of key points that are important. Would you say that chiropractors are more in the realm of rehabilitaiton medicine than any other scope?

  • Many people get great pain relief from their chiropractos and that is fantastic. The abuse you are speaking of would only warrent a surgical intervention. But i supose if someone can put off having surgery for years if they continue to go to their chiro than i think that is good. From a PTs point of view we tend to think how can we reeducate the persons posture and strengthen their core to prevent the continued abuse. just food for thought.

  • I know what an activator is. I kow th esound it makes. I guess i want clear. When you do a manual adjustment sometimes you hear a "pop" and sometimes you dont. The "Pop" what exaclty is the pathological mechanism that makes that noise. Like i said above i have heard many responses.

  • So the cavity sounds from the adjustment...what exaclty makes that noise? I have heard a number of responses. Secondly, does a chiropractor really fix someone if they have been going to them for years? what happen to posture reeducation and stabilization?

  • I have neck problems from whiplash. But I am terrified of these men. I DO NOT BELIEVE they can be 100% sure of which direction to move the neck, how much force to apply, etc. It is a frightening procedure. And what's up with that "life force" stick? Count me as VERY sceptical.

  • I agree, not the most convincing video,

  • Your smart, physical therapy can work as well, its your muscles that have most likely been strained not your vertebra. It will take some exercises and maybe cold and warm compresses to bring down any swelling. An X-ray if the Chiro even does one will not show muscle or ligament damage. If they turn or pull your head too far, a strained muscle could tear. Beware of anyone who applies life force religion crap to medicine.

  • Not a ton of information but I'm really glad to see Chiropractic getting out on the internet! I think everyone would benefit from Chiropratic adjustments!
