Just to clarifty a few things here. The Irish Army is part of the Irish Defence Forces. For those of you British people who would like to come online and put it down when someone who is Irish tries to say the Irish Army is better than the British Army, The Irish army does not use MBT's, because it used to, and they are useless on Irish terrain. It has not been to wars because that is not its purpose. It is still a well trained professional force. And Irish people join the BA because the Irish -
why the fuck is there a debate on every one of these videos on whos country is better, i bet the people fighting are fat lazy fuckers with nothing better to do... grow up and grow a pair!
I want to join the army after uni. I'm Irish so its the Irish army that I want to join. But its a similar set up. This film is great because it shows the culmination of training when a battalion can conduct itself in conventional warfare operations on the ground. Love to hear the little stories that go along with exercises like the fake names and fake armies. They make it more interesting. This video is great for explaining to non-military types what an army 'exercise' is. 5 out of 5 buddy!

@sarahooxo What has the Irish Army ever done? We're not an impreial nation, therefore we have little reason to engage in any military action that would compromise the political landscape of a nation.
The Regiments you have listed are centuries old and so are little indication of a developing interest in the British Military, rather an example of it's continued traditonalist structure.
During the height of British Colonial power, Irish-Catholics represented 50% of it's force.
@fester702 "those little yellow things on the end of the rifles are called stoppers" lol in my ten years with the british army ive never heard of them being refered to as "stoppers" lol
They are in fact BFA'S blank firing attachment for use with blank ammo so as to simulate a proper recoil allowing the next blank round to load .................
Haha it seems that the further up the chain of command you go, the more vague and ambiguous COs orders become. It was the same in my unit, even OCs orders were a bag of wank sometimes. Cool video though.

@fester702 Thanks for watching the film, I hope you have seen the all out action in part 2. We shot this on training exercises in Germany & Salisbury plain.
The yellow things are called stoppers? i thought they were called BFAs (Blank Firing Attachments ). As there is no bullet to restrict the gases producesd by explosion/combustion of the charge , when firing a blank these restrict the gases from escaping so the gas pressure can cock the weapon ready for the next part of the cycle.
@fester702 the yellow things at the end of the rifle are called B.F.A's blank firing attachments they dont just block the barrel they re-cock the weapon stop rounds from coming out and act as safety warning device when in training hence the bright yellow (just thought of telling u lol )
@fester702 Those little yellow things are called BFA's (Blank Firing Attachments) and they don't block the barrel. They divert the gas produced from the firing of the blank round up and backwards to re-cock the weapon exactly like a live round would. They are painted yellow so soldiers know that blank rounds are being used and can adhere to the safety requirements when using them
They are called BFA's. Blank Firing Attachments. They don't block the barrel, they provide sufficient blockage for the gas generated by the blank round to work the gas piston, simulating the partial blockage a live round creates and allowing the rest of the automatic mechanism to function.

@13Johno ha its funny how you think simple war tactics are top secret classified files. haha every branch prints thousands of guide books for the infantry to study if our enemys wanted to know our "tactics" they would just go on the internet. war stategies are nothing more than flanking and ambushes and retreating tactics. good thought though
@Leathlord Its a 50 meter contact if you listen to the target indication, its easier to simply roll the position with the fireteams bounding past each other. Pissing about with placing Delta in a suitable fire support position whilst Charlie go left or right flanking would waste time, ammunition and lives. The reservist made the right call as far as I can tell.

Ah the TA,we earn much more than the thick as fuck regs and still get to do the same job as them on tour.remember lads were STABs still the armys best :)
@Therifles100 It's good that you are in the TA mate - but I was in the regs (Kings) and this excersise really does show the gulf in quality between the regs and the TA. It was an extremely piss poor performance to be honest.
Having said that I am looking at joining the TA (I miss being in but have a family now) what is it like? How often will I be away etc?
@manchesterfellow fair enough, the TA is all dependant on what unit you are with, some are good, some gash.since you are already in the regs you wont have to redo basic and thats usually the biggest ball ache, check out whatever unit is local to you, sure there are loads of inf units in manchester
@manchesterfellow fair enough, the TA is all dependant on what unit you are with, some are good, some gash.since you are already in the regs you wont have to redo basic and thats usually the biggest ball ache, check out whatever unit is local to you, sure there are loads of inf units in manchester
@Therifles100 no in afganistan the TA basicly sit behind, dont get me wrong im happy to have them watching my back but they are not even close to the quality of regular soldiers and like most if they cant fire there rifle they can alway lug ammo around
@mr0phoenix well no thats arse, already done a tour and we do EXACTLY the same job, especially since you join a regular battalion and are part of the unit before you go out, there is no difference on tour, know this first hand.go troll elsewhere
@Therifles100 yes there is a diference, the regular troops go in first then the TA i dont mean they stay right back the fob or anything but they dont go in first, sont get me wrong there is nothing wrong with the TA most of them as just as professional as regulars but they dont have the same training and are not anywere near as accurate as regualar soldiers
@mr0phoenix No you dont understand, im in 7 rifles and when we get mobilized we join 2 or 5 rifles which are regular battalions to bulk up their strength, on tour there is no difference in the jobs we do as we both train to do the same job together on pre deployment training.i dont think you have a clue,or can spell so go play some more PR okay mr northener?
@Therifles100 The TA get a choice to go out or not they are not forced. But this does not change the quality of them yes many dont have respect for them. In my eyes if you make that choice to go on tour and to do this you have to sign on to the regs your just as brave as the regs as for not been as good you recive the same training. so get your facts sorted before you chat shit to someone in the 7 rifles my respect goes to you Therifles100 by the way im in 107 field squadron im a combat engineer
@mr0phoenix What a load of bollocks, if your a TA IR in a rifle platoon you go in the same as everyone else, have you even served? as a day one week one crow would know that.
Do you think the Plt commander asks the TA lads in his platoon to hang back a bit while his regular soldiers fight, you dribbler.
@Therifles100 I suspect the nearest mr0pheonix will come to being in contact with the Taliban will be when one of them sells him a Kebab from a chip shop in the UK.
His terminology is all wrong, prove me wrong mr0phoenix, what size pull through would you use on a minimi?
Are you waiting for the pop...? Oh what is the pop...the pop is what you will hear when you take your head from out of your ass...if you have nothing good to say just button it.
@Mynamesuckstoo What our you talking about mate canadians have been fighting much of the hardest battles in the south like helmand canadasalso had to baby sit AMF and train and fight along side with them to and baby sit alot of USMC US Armed forces theres plenty of proof out there the brits and canada get along great out there though the BEST OF ALLIES Canada doesent have a huge force so they train there REG forces with above the USMCs TRAINING Canadas MILITARY is Renound around the world 1#
@Native2Islam wrong canadian forces are renoun in canada thats it. everywhere else in the world just thinks yous as usa in war sorry but its the truth.
@M1ckyCFC No mate, your wrong, Canadian forces are a distinct fighting force, some of the best in the world, The British Army often train with them often, at a place called BATUS, a part of land in Canada that we use to train our troops. I've spent 2 months on a Canadian Army base with the British and we learned a lot from each other, and I discovered that Canada's armored forces, are very very good at their job, that being killing people. Their (new) camo (Cadpat) is some of the best as well
@M1ckyCFC No mate. Your wrong. The Canadian Army is one of the best. You don't fuck with those guys, their so good, that the British Army train with them at a place called BATUS. I've spent 2 months on a Canadian Army Base as part of an international exchange, and I learned a lot about the Canadians, and they learnt a lot about us. Every day I would see Canadians running through the woods with huge 'Rucks' on their backs, also CADPAT (Their new camo) is one of the best in the world.
@Mynamesuckstoo By the way my mate made my account so he thought it be funny to put my name as Native2Islam it gets me in tons of arguements with americans frankly non of them have no idea what there talking about ya like i said though canadas known for there infantrys bravery toughness professional skill and ther marksmenship aswell as there snipers and Spec Ops CSOR/JTF2 also there Air Force
The british forces need to work a LOT harder!. Its so humiliating for the british public not being able to win a desisive victory against a "THIRD WORLD" rusty gun and sandles platoon in afganistan! The lads have the best technology and the help of American forces, 5 long years and still no final victory in site!. It can not get any more shamefull and HUMILIATING than that now can it??

Many thanks for watching it. Have you seen part 2? or the whole 10min version? I'm not sure what info you are looking for as we made this as a film in its own rights.
Cheers

davehego 2 years ago
@Therifles100 It's good that you are in the TA mate - but I was in the regs (Kings) and this excersise really does show the gulf in quality between the regs and the TA. It was an extremely piss poor performance to be honest.
Having said that I am looking at joining the TA (I miss being in but have a family now) what is it like? How often will I be away etc?
manchesterfellow 1 year ago
@manchesterfellow fair enough, the TA is all dependant on what unit you are with, some are good, some gash.since you are already in the regs you wont have to redo basic and thats usually the biggest ball ache, check out whatever unit is local to you, sure there are loads of inf units in manchester

@Therifles100 no in afganistan the TA basicly sit behind, dont get me wrong im happy to have them watching my back but they are not even close to the quality of regular soldiers and like most if they cant fire there rifle they can alway lug ammo around
mr0phoenix 1 year ago
@mr0phoenix well no thats arse, already done a tour and we do EXACTLY the same job, especially since you join a regular battalion and are part of the unit before you go out, there is no difference on tour, know this first hand.go troll elsewhere
Therifles100 1 year ago
@Therifles100 yes there is a diference, the regular troops go in first then the TA i dont mean they stay right back the fob or anything but they dont go in first, sont get me wrong there is nothing wrong with the TA most of them as just as professional as regulars but they dont have the same training and are not anywere near as accurate as regualar soldiers
mr0phoenix 1 year ago
@mr0phoenix No you dont understand, im in 7 rifles and when we get mobilized we join 2 or 5 rifles which are regular battalions to bulk up their strength, on tour there is no difference in the jobs we do as we both train to do the same job together on pre deployment training.i dont think you have a clue,or can spell so go play some more PR okay mr northener?
Therifles100 1 year ago
@Therifles100 The TA get a choice to go out or not they are not forced. But this does not change the quality of them yes many dont have respect for them. In my eyes if you make that choice to go on tour and to do this you have to sign on to the regs your just as brave as the regs as for not been as good you recive the same training. so get your facts sorted before you chat shit to someone in the 7 rifles my respect goes to you Therifles100 by the way im in 107 field squadron im a combat engineer
richly1988 1 year ago
@mr0phoenix What a load of bollocks, if your a TA IR in a rifle platoon you go in the same as everyone else, have you even served? as a day one week one crow would know that.
Do you think the Plt commander asks the TA lads in his platoon to hang back a bit while his regular soldiers fight, you dribbler.
MrFooknuts 1 year ago
@Therifles100 I suspect the nearest mr0pheonix will come to being in contact with the Taliban will be when one of them sells him a Kebab from a chip shop in the UK.
His terminology is all wrong, prove me wrong mr0phoenix, what size pull through would you use on a minimi?

CaptainAmerica322 2 years ago
@Mynamesuckstoo What our you talking about mate canadians have been fighting much of the hardest battles in the south like helmand canadasalso had to baby sit AMF and train and fight along side with them to and baby sit alot of USMC US Armed forces theres plenty of proof out there the brits and canada get along great out there though the BEST OF ALLIES Canada doesent have a huge force so they train there REG forces with above the USMCs TRAINING Canadas MILITARY is Renound around the world 1#
Native2Islam 1 year ago
@Native2Islam wrong canadian forces are renoun in canada thats it. everywhere else in the world just thinks yous as usa in war sorry but its the truth.
M1ckyCFC 1 year ago
@M1ckyCFC No mate, your wrong, Canadian forces are a distinct fighting force, some of the best in the world, The British Army often train with them often, at a place called BATUS, a part of land in Canada that we use to train our troops. I've spent 2 months on a Canadian Army base with the British and we learned a lot from each other, and I discovered that Canada's armored forces, are very very good at their job, that being killing people. Their (new) camo (Cadpat) is some of the best as well
Duga125 1 year ago
@M1ckyCFC No mate. Your wrong. The Canadian Army is one of the best. You don't fuck with those guys, their so good, that the British Army train with them at a place called BATUS. I've spent 2 months on a Canadian Army Base as part of an international exchange, and I learned a lot about the Canadians, and they learnt a lot about us. Every day I would see Canadians running through the woods with huge 'Rucks' on their backs, also CADPAT (Their new camo) is one of the best in the world.
Duga125 1 year ago
@Mynamesuckstoo By the way my mate made my account so he thought it be funny to put my name as Native2Islam it gets me in tons of arguements with americans frankly non of them have no idea what there talking about ya like i said though canadas known for there infantrys bravery toughness professional skill and ther marksmenship aswell as there snipers and Spec Ops CSOR/JTF2 also there Air Force
Native2Islam 1 year ago
We got permission to film it.
zagreusfilms 3 years ago
The british forces need to work a LOT harder!. Its so humiliating for the british public not being able to win a desisive victory against a "THIRD WORLD" rusty gun and sandles platoon in afganistan! The lads have the best technology and the help of American forces, 5 long years and still no final victory in site!. It can not get any more shamefull and HUMILIATING than that now can it??
