Just so we are clear, this is a 9500 series motor, however it is a D series, not an E.

The E and F series are both double stack motors.

First off, the A,B,C,D,E,F,G etc have nothing to do with the speaker being a Z, 9500Z, 9900, 9500, 9100, 3500, 2500, 1500, 500 etc.

So to say the Letter after the subs model number is more less corrisponds with the cooling methods and motor used.

Just as the 9500, and 3500 baskets are backwords compatiable. The larger speaker uses a larger 6 spoke basket.

My guess is that the sub is vibrating on whatever it is sitting on.

When I free Air my 12" on the ground it vibrates around like crazy.

And surround materials may also be vibrating.

The sub's magnet is actually sitting on the direct connect speaker wire that you see under the magnet. That way it wouldnt be scratching up my tv.

The noise you hear is air being sucked in and out of the voice coil through the 6 cooling vents in the magnet. you can kind of see my curtains moving from the air.
