And yes, Maru is an outstanding animal - he is rare. And delightful. And no disrespect was intended by my comment. Regarding the Scottish Fold breed, apparently there are differences of opinions among those who claim to be feline experts. I am NO such expert, so I bow to all of the expertise here. @HuggyKat Just because his ears aren't folded doesn't mean he isn't a Scottish fold. You can see that he has the characteristics of one (lying on his back, round eyes and face). Please do some more research on the genetics of Scottish fold cats.

Maru is NOT a Scottish Fold. Folded ears ARE the distinction of that particular breed. Maru is a Domestic Shorthair but has one of the most amazing personalities we've ever seen. Thank you so much to his humans for sharing him with all of us.

@HuggyKat Sorry HuggyKat, but he IS a Scottish Fold. All Scottish Folds certainly do NOT have folded ears. In fact, to breed successfully without any problems breeders must breed a folded-eared cat to a non-folded eared cat. Maru is just one of the non-folded eared cats and as you can see from all these wonderful videos; he is an OUTSTANDING example of the breed!!!

The face is right, but the body seems a bit big for the breed (maybe it's just because he's an overweight kitty, but he still seems big even with that factored in) It's possible he's a cross breed between a short hair and a Scottish fold. Only the owner would know.

That is not catnip... that is just grass. Catnip is shaped differently. Google it. They sell pots of plain grass for cats as well because it aids their digestion, and if they live outdoors, they will nibble grass now and again.

Actually, it's not catnip, just cat grass. Catnip has leaves, not blades. And some cats don't like catnip. A friend of mine has a cat that likes to eat catnip straight from the can though and won't eat it if you hand it to her. :P

Grass is actually a very tough plant to digest. It's too fibrous, which is why cows have multiple stomachs. When cats eat grass it normally means they have upset stomachs, or something in them that they want to get out, so it makes them throw it up.

It's supposed to make them throw up, that's the point. In nature, cats eat grass because they have an upset stomach and want to get rid of whatever is in their stomach. Most of the time this is a hairball... so they throw it up. It's gross, but natural 8)
