I have a husky and she does this only with other dogs shell let me mess with her food she's mean though she don't like ppl n tries to bite she's got a large amount of wolf in her
My husky couldn't care less if i touched his food or not. I can easily take it from him and he won't bat an eyelid. But after taking a friends dog camping with us we found he would wolf down his food as quick as possible, and growl at any dog that came near, but would still let me or anyone else take it from him. Strange lol
This is not that dengerous food aggression...but its stil not good when dogs act like this....thats why you should pul your hands into puppies food and show them that its totaly normal to share and let others to tuch your food
Beautiful dog. Obviously has strong pack leader skills. Some huskies care about food, some don't. Who cares. Mine doesn't give a rats ass when it comes to her "brother" but I'm sure if it were a new "pack member" she would also have to show them the ropes. Especially since those pups haven't event learned them yet. If that dog were food aggressive his mane would be up, tail would be up, would be constantly snarling, barking, snipping, lunging. That's a sign of a patient papa trying to show his
Nope, I wouldn't, I don't have the same dog breed, nor did they display the same habits. I have a dog that bites people left and right and I put him in a ring to fight.
-- That's what I'm implying right?--
I don't think you're getting the point that I am COMPARING. The dog is behaving the same way mine does, there for I believe that it will be fine and food aggression is not an issue here. That's what I'm saying. I don't know for sure, but that's what I'm lead to believe.
@SplitFireStarcraft I'm comparing them to mine because there is a comparison to be made. I'm not saying that yours have displayed similar behavior. I'm merely stating that it's healthy.
If it is any consolation, then I will restate my previous statement to a degree; "I've had dogs all my life, and in my experience this is the behavior I've seen displayed. (etc.)"
I've had dogs my entire life, I'm fairly sure that I know what I'm talking about when it comes to dogs. My own displayed the same thing with his pups, never did anything to me, my family, nor his mate, just showed his pups their position.
@SplitFireStarcraft His tail is down and his teeth are bared, this is true, but he's showing them his place, not showing food aggression. I highly doubt that he would severely injure one of his own as well, he might nip at their heels or tail but I doubt that he would do much further than that.
@SplitFireStarcraft That's not food aggression, that's line of dominance between a paternal figure and his/her pups. It's good to allow your dog to show this with it's kin, but not against humans. Especially with Siber's Mal's, and other larger, more dominant breeds. It lessens their attempts for dominance over humans at an older age.
Dad looks like hes real serious here, no nonsense kinda dad. Big bro looks like he's got the message but little sis is pushing her luck. Bro got the brains this time.
you people are stupid and think that "food aggretion" is bad...its a bunch of bullshit..all dogs do that an of they don't its because they don't care...some animals are more protective of their foods...that doesn't mean the dog is gonna turn all aggresive an shit...you fucking pussies take a fucking chance!
huskies are pack animals, unlike select other breeds; they're a lot like wolves in behavior as well as appearance. kudos to 'Dad' for his patience and for not being too rough while still making his point :3
@khaza1wolfgurl Was going to put same thing. Haha, I love how people misinterpret this as being over-protective. Sibers and Malamutes aren't too far gone from their wolf ancestors and their traditional behavior is rooted to the core of any dog, just trained out of most dogs at a young age, well against humans anyway. Between paternal figures to pups it's good to allow them to show line of dominance, but still maintain that humans are still Top Dog so to speak, xD
Really nice demonstration of a parent patiently teaching not to encroach on a dog eating. My husky will only warn once or twice before offering a strong correction
