@DangerMouse232 Yeah, it seems like they're quite different, which makes sense since they were made by different developers. I just want to play the originals too because they're regarded as classic PC RPGs.
Since VATS in F1 and F2 is the main way of fighting, the music I think sort of represents a "slowdown" of time where you can make the best actions to win the battle, but it also has a omniscence toward making fatal mistakes, pretty awesome.
There was technically no VATS in fallout 1,2, and tactics. It was called a "targeted" or "aimed" shot (i cant remember exactly). It was all turn based (not in tactics though), so you had all the time in the world to shoot your enemy. This soundtrack was used int he military base, where VATS of FEV virus were located. It has nothing to do with VATS the targeting system.
I remember correctly, this music kicks in when in a prolonged battle..? Idk. Still though, it gave that "slowdown of time" feel to me, when I first played many years ago, because I was relatively new to turn-based combat in video games.
i've got Fallout 1,2 &3 and enjoy them all. however I dont think that you can compare the first two with the 3rd. they all have their own original ideas and stories.
@npcgman no it wasn't stupid prolly where bethesda got the acronym from vats of Forced Evolutionary Virus. Damn the story line of fallout is epic. Bethesda woulda done better to put more emphasis on the story. I hope it doesn't get worse now they have the rights an all.
Wow... this makes me really sad. I installed the game so that it would run without a cd and apparently that didn't include the music. I always thought it was weird how everything was silent...
good observation. It really gives a feel of 2077 when the bombs were launched, and people were trying to get in the VAULTS. listen to this music when you are lying on the bed just before falling asleep...... this music creates a wonderful atmosphere then.
