  • how do you upgrade the quiltey?

  • It's called thermal paste. Or thermal grease. Or thermal compound. Goes by a bunch of names. There's a wikipedia article on it. A quick search and I found it for $3 to $5 on ebay.

And 10.1? Really? I'd put at least 10.2 on it, if not 10.4. But you can probably find IE and Netscape for it out there. IE 5.1 was the last version for the Mac, I think, and version 7.2 comes to mind for Netscape. Good luck!

  • Adam, You've become my go to guy. hope you can help. upgrading the ram in my 15" flat panel g4. what is the tube of whatever that you use to reseel the heatsink? also any idea what browser works best for os x 10.1? thanks , Rickbhere@yahoo.com

  • good teaching adam.

  • Hi Please answer me this So this means I could upgrade my G4 800MHZ 1GB RAM TO 2 GB RAM???

  • @MrNickynick444 Sorry, no. Under 1GHz and over 1GHz they use different types of RAM. The iMac I'm working on here is 1.25GHz and can go to 2GB of RAM. Your 800MHz unit maxes out at 1GB, so you're at the limit, the processor can't handle any more...

  • @ThisIsAdamB wait in 2007 380p Was HD?

  • @ThisIsAdamB Could i Install 1GB Stick in The User upgradable Slot?

  • where can i buy this ram used in this video iMac G4 RAM Upgrade

  • "!It´s Me".....What a great guy

  • @gunnarMyTube But it was me. Still is. If a subscriber hears that, they think, "Yes. Yes, it is him." If someone new to my videos hears it, they simply glance up to the top of my page and think, "Oh, that's who he is." Simple enough, I would think...

  • use a vacuum

  • Thank you very much for your video, I have the original imac g4 with no upgrades at all, could yuo please tell me what brand of ram i should get and also what type, I would like to maximize the ram, and also maximize my hard drive, like i said I have the original and it's very very slow. Thank you, and your video is very detailed, i think that i will try to upgrade it.

  • @Lamboragon Nobody programs in LISP anymore. It's all different flavors of C and Xcode and Java these days.

  • ok so i found this computer in my basement, and turn it on and theres a black screen and no login screen. i wanna fix it but i dont know how what do i do? you seem smart so i thought id ask you

  • @likestoramble I'm guessing it's a Mac you're talking about. Power it up and press down on these 4 keys: Command, Option, P, and R. Keep holding until you hear the startup chime 3 times the release. It might just start up normally. If the screen lights up with no desktop but gives you a symbol of some kind, tell me what it is, and we can go from there. Email me at the address on my channel page.

  • help! the memory stick inside my imac g4 does not work. it is a 51mb stick and it is not picking it up. it is a 700mhz model

  • is there a way to increase the processor in this mac from 800MHz-1.25GHz?

  • i have this computer - i bought the RAM and am ready to install it, only that heat-resistant compound threw me off. do i need to put that in? or will it operate fine without?

    thanks! good video

  • @chazrai "Fine" is questionable. Do this: run the G4 as-is for a couple of hours, doing work of some kind. Play video or music. Keep the drives spinning. Now place your hand over the vent at the top of the dome. Feel the heat the comes out? If you don't put the heat-transfer (not resistant) compound on, a lot of that heat will stay inside the computer, and that's not a good thing.

The stuff is cheap, or if you know someone who builds PCs, borrow a tiny bit from them.

  • thanks! i just figured the 15" was the basic model!

  • you seem to know what your talking about and ive no idea with macs so im gonna throw you a question cause ive bought a 15" IMAC G4 and want to upgrade the ram obviously. Putting 2gb of ram into one of these systems should unofficially work right? Or cause its the 15" version of this imac would that be too much

  • @johnny2076 It depends on the CPU speed, not the screen size. If it's 700MHz or 800MHz then it's 512MB in each slot, 1GB total. If it's 1GHz or faster, then you can install 1GB + 1GB for a total of 2GB.

  • I wanted to ask, what's there to be careful for when you separated the white base from the top part of the dome? What's still connected there?

Also, in terms of cleaning, can you get to the fan from where you stopped diving in? I want to clean mine, bit am hesitant to open up a perfectly good machine.

  • @ThreeDaysOfDale Various wires and cables. Power and data for the drives and mainboard. There's not a lot of slack, so you have to open it just enough to reach in and carefully disconnect them. Then you can proceed with the upgrades and cleaning.

You can clean out the upper case fan if you remove the drives first. Just be really careful taking out and replacing the drive bracket. You don't want to bend anything...

  • hello When you did the glue you said a drop there and I understand that but what to you mean by "I drop the rest inside"?

  • @spikerocks123 I was making a joke to myself because as soon as I changed my grip on the thermal paste tube, I dropped it inside the computer.

  • @ThisIsAdamB oh ok thanks

  • I have the Imac G4 1.25GHz 17 inch. Will the 1GB DDR DIMM PC2700 really work? Wasn't sure if it would screw it up or now. I have the 512 SODIMM already and the standard 256DIMM already in. Just want to make sure. Thanks! Great video. Very helpfull.

  • @superapple4ever Thank you for your help. I appreciate it.

  • LAG

  • @THEtechknight Yes, there's some lag. I wasn't planning on recording what I was doing that day, so I had to improvise with an underpowered iBook and an Apple iSight camera. It was the best I could do at the time.

  • @ThisIsAdamB Ahh, ok. That make sense now. Hey, it worked at least though.

  • @ThisIsAdamB hi, can you tell me what does it mean when ya hear the beep as the mac tries to boot as oppose as ya would want to hear like the theme sound?

  • @MojoJuana A long monotone "booooooop" usually means there's a problem with the RAM. Ot that there's no RAM that the computer can see.

  • @ThisIsAdamB thanks! yeah, turned out one of the memory bars failed! :(

  • Hi, i have the same model but whit 256mb of memory.

I would like update to 2Gb.

If I have understand I need:

    - One module of ram 1GB, 200-pin SODIMM, DDR PC2700 (to add in bottom of the iMac)

    - One module of ram 1GB ram module DIMM, DDR PC2700 (to add inside the iMac)

    it's true?

    Thanks!

PS: Sorry for my bad english!

  • Has anyone tried a 1GB ram module in both slots of a 700mhz iMac?

  • Any word on changing the actual processor or VRAM or graphics chip in this thing?

  • Hi Adam, is it ok to open the iMac G4 without that heat conduter cream that you had? Thank You

  • Comment removed

  • @ThisIsAdamB I was wondering the same thing. I am looking to do this myself, but I am unsure if I need that heat conductor substance that you were talking about. I have never upgraded my iMac, so this will be my first time. Thank you!

  • @ErikGarcia89 t's called thermal paste, and any place that sells computer parts

should sell it. I got mine at CompUSA. Amazon, Tiger, all the online

    places sell it.

  • hey adam i have the imac g4 the first slot is empty the sodimm and the other have the 512 mb

also running 10.3.9 panther how can i do to put the leopard or the snow how can upgrade to and where can i buy the ram for cheap so i can put 2gb of total \

thanks also how can i upgrade to leopard please let me know thank you

  • whatched on i imac G4 17" 1.25ghz with a 160GB HDD and a lightscribe superdrive.

and all this put in yesterday.

  • Adam- Great video thanks! I need to upgrade my wifes imac to Leopard in order to sync her new iphone 4. Apple sent me copy of leopard 10.5.6 and I discovered I needed more Ram! My machine had the standard 256 so I bought a 1GB SD for the user slot.. When I took the cover off I learned that had a 512 in the user slot already?? I swapped in the new 1 GB. But neither the 512 or the new 1GB SO Dim Memory show in the system profiler. Ever hear of this? is there a way to know if it is active?

  • hey what is the screen size??????????????

  • I have the exact same computer..... Mine still has the original ram I think. 512 MB SDRAM. I'd love to put some new ram in it but I wouldn't want to mess things up. (Forget that heat conductor stuff and the thing fries) -_-

  • Adam, Thank you for this INCReDIBLY helpful video! I just bought my first Mac product. I was fortunate enough to find a g4 17" Imac 1 ghz. for only 60$.

It too has 768 megs of Ram.. and I am planning on upgrading to 2 gigs based on the teachings on this video. I would also like to upgrade the HD at some point in time, however, I need to wait til I can find a copy of the OS. as it ddid not come with a disk..

    Thank you again!!!

  • Hey Adam. I needed your help to find me the right Ram for my iMac Details about my Computer. iMac G4 PowerPC Version 10.3.0 Prossesor 700 MHz PowerPC G4 RAM which is installed is, 256 MB SDRAM In Case you forgot,i needed a 1gb or 2. Regards from Berlin
  • Thanx SoCalize got the new inverter but it seems im having a problem opening the LCD on my 20" imac G4 and there is no manuals advice or videos out there the only comment i found is something like this " the opening of the lcd is very intricate is advised to contact Apple", ps i was gentle nothing broke

  • @ gazigaz1 dude hands down it's the inverter, not a doubt in my mind. Happened to mine. No worries it'll be back to normal after the inverter get swapped. Now to anyone reading this. Did that heat conductor break due to taking the mac apart?

  • Should i check all the cables first before i buy the inverter or is defenitally the inverter. please let me know where is the inverter based and what should i do. Thank you any advice is appriciated

  • Hi adam i have an iMac g4 20 inch screen but the screen is not working it displays a faint blue glow when is turned on, i connected an exteral monito via the vga out port and it is working I think it might be the inverter but i do not know where it is. Watching your video i did not see it on the sphere so i presume it is on the actual screen. Im I wright ?

  • You make me wanna be sick.

  • @Faffleck Don't let me stop you...

  • @Faffleck you make me want to stab you.

  • Hey AdamB, can you recommend a hard drive for this iMac? I want to upgrade the hard drive. Mine is a 1.25ghz, 2gb RAM, 80gb HDD, 17" screen running Leopard OS.

  • You froget to edit it out :P

  • THIS ... IS ADAM B Cool intro

  • how do i get leopard on my imac g4 for free? pls reply

  • I dont know but if someone tells you please tell me i am in a similar situation

  • @yoyomtvt search torrents and how to use them. You can get whatever you desire. Remember if you like the software buy it! (like i do, yeah..>!)

  • hey adam, my girlfriend has this Mac. I just bought her a 512MB 333MHZ DDR PC2700 DIMM. i bought the 512MB because it already has a 512MB SODIMM. I was told it can only handle 1GB of Ram, is that both SODIMM and DIMM combined... or just DIMM?

  • @uraloserlover --Total unfortunately. So 512 and 512.

Although, I am unsure if you remove the Dimm that's on the board and only use 1GB SODimm if this will work.

  • Wow, don't you know how to romance the ladies... :-)

Actually, you can put 1GB in each slot. Apple says only 512MB in each, but 1GB's weren't available when the model was in production. You saw me put a 1GB DIMM in the G4 in this video, if I thought it would help, I'd swap the 512MB SODIMM for a 1GB, total of 2GB, but the user doesn't really tax the machine enough to need it.

  • @ThisIsAdamB just saying only 1 ghz to 1.25 ghz can handle 2 gb any ghz below can take up to 1gb

  • so is there a spot for 2 ram "cards"? i just ordered a 1GB for mine, and it already has 500MB. can i use both for a total of 1.5 GB?

  • A SODIMM goes right under the base, and a full sized DIMM goes inside. Just have another look at the video and you'll see both spots.

  • @3Bproductionz well only if the 500mb is the very long ram thats in the Computer where you see the circuit board because apple states that the very inside of the imac g4 is not to be user capable, and because of the metal bar shown in the video will break and if not fixed the cpu will overheat, to answer your question, --- only if the ram was already in stalled

  • is that George Costanza?

  • No. George Costanza is a fictional TV character that used to appear on a show called "Seinfeld". He was portrayed by an actor named Jason Alexander. The person in this video is named Adam and is a real person. I hope this helps you comprehend the difference between fiction and reality.

  • Is it special apple RAM, or is it just RAM from the local computer store?

  • computer atore ram

  • Hey Adam, where did you get that 1g ram card from?

  • Newegg, I think.

  • Man I'm glad I watched this video before opening up my iMac! I would have never thought to put thermal paste on the side connections :~). Thanks a lot for pointing that out Adam!

  • is it possible to uprade it with 4gb ram and 500gb HD ?

  • is it possible to add a PCI card to this?

  • No, there's no slot in there. No room....

The only expansion options for the G4 iMac is to swap out RAM/HD/optical and to add USB and/or FireWire devices.

  • Would the G4 recognise PC4000 Memory?

    Essentially the fastest DDR available.

  • the Fastest DDR Memory is PC3200 and yes the imca will recognize it.

  • i have a 1ghz iMac G4 with 512GB RAM. I was thinking of upgrading the RAM to 1 or 2 GB, but i heard that its not really worth it. Because it's only 1GHz, the processor wont really use a full 1GB of RAM, is this at all true? i Love this G4 but it cant handle a lot of software out there because of its lack of RAM, hope to hear a response soon. THank in advance!

  • lol, sorry for the typo, i meant 512MB of RAM currently installed

  • with osx more ram is always better. i have a powerbook g4 and it had 1 gb installed, just adding 256 mb helped a lot. and the powerbook was also 1 ghz.

  • Trying hitting refresh then click HQ

  • i got a 144pin ready for my imac 15". how do i get it in there? nothing seems to be moving well. help if you can please!

  • whats the Max on the Ram Upgrade Mine has 684mb

  • Can you fix the video any time soon? I'd love to see this whole thing...

  • Same! This used to be a ten minute video, it even says so on the thumb nail of this video! Wonder what happened? Thanks.

  • Glad you replied - I forgot about this video!

Thanks for the fix. That thermal paste idea always intimidated me. I just may give it a try now.

  • can you upgrade mhz dont yell at me or anything im new to this shiz! :)

  • my mac is 512 mb of ram and its pretty fast.never slowed down had it for four years.lol.macs are awesome

  • ok, quick question, may sound dumb...but Im no Apple expert or genius. Is/Are there more than 1 slot for memory?? I havent taken mine apart.....yet.

  • this video used to be 10 mins long and now it is only 2 and a half !?

  • y is the video laggy?

  • The video is laggy because I was using an iSight camera recording directly into iMovie on an underpowered, overworked iBook. I wasn't planning on recording the process, so I didn't bring my video camera, and I had to work with what I had.

  • jes i understand m8 im not putting u down about it (my videos arnt great) i was just asking

  • What was the speed of your iBook (i know its sold now), I always record directly into my 1Ghz iMac G4 from my camcorder and i have never experienced lag. I've also tried it on my 533mhz powermac g4 and there was no lag whatsoever.

  • HELP 911 !!!

I'm trying to upgrade my iMac G4 w/ a new hard Drive --I bought a WD 500Gb EIDI and nothing, so I did some research and it seems that there are issues with drives over 120gb with iMacs, but some people disagree---WHAT IS THE TRUTH---do I need an Ultra ATA/100 contr card?--like the WD manual says? I also tried a brad new 160gb drive and again nothing---WTF---there are so may vids on her showing how easy all this?? I also upgraded the ram just like you did with 1 gig on each slot.

  • Well no actually depends what kinda of g4 maybe the 700mhz/800mhz were in the era where they would only read to 128gb im not sure otherwise if its higher they can have as big of harddrives as they want . And WD is a horrible harddrive brand, i had one for 3 months and it failed and a person i know had 7 that failed on him

  • Adam: great vid, and thanks for giving the less technical a boost of confidence...I've a question. My iMac G4 800MHZ already has 768MB RAM...Is 512 + 512 the max, and will I see a marked improvement? If so, what DIMM do I need? Thanks, Mike

  • I had an issue with a full 2gb upgrade;...solution; install 1gb first then restart and install the other 1gb ram

  • since my last post, no change to system profile, but i tried: reinserting the outer SODIMM, zapping the PRAM and resetting the NVRAM. called Kingston, they said the cards should be correct.

    help?

(if i do go back into the motherboard area today, do i have to clean off the silver compound and reapply?)

  • I guess, try them one at a time. And every time you crack the seal on the heat pipe, yes, you should clean and re-apply the silver compound, just to be certain.

  • Adam, i have a G4 1 Ghz that first said 256 MB SDRAM. i thought i followed your video to install two 512 cards from Kingston. i replaced a 256 inside with a G4266/512, and added a PBG4266/512 "outside" and now all it says that i have is one DIMMO/J22 256 DDR SDRAM PC2100U-25330. it lists a DIMM1/J20 but says EMPTY

  • Is the 1GB card the largest that the inside slot can support? Someone below said that 512MB is all you can put in the SO-DIMM, so that means this PowerPC is limited to 1.5GB of RAM?

  • See above. 700MHz or 800MHz iMacs take PC133 RAM, max of 512MB in each slot, 1GB total. 1GHz G4 iMacs or faster take PC 2100 or PC2700 and (even though Apple never approved it) can handle 1GB max in each slot, for a total of 2GB.

  • Adam, also have 800MHz with 768. Is it worth the trouble of taking the bottom off to go to 1GB total? Would I notice the difference?

  • My system profile says that I have two dimms:

    1. DIMM0/J22: 512MB, speed PC2700U-25330

    2. DIMM1/J20: 256MB, speed PC2100U-25330

In the video you referred to the internal card as the "original 256 PC 2700 that came with this thing."

If the 2700 is the internal card it would appear that I have 512MB internally, and 256MB on the SO-DIMM. But, I had the memory upgraded when new and they probly did the SO-DIMM b/c it's less work. Is this reasonable to think, or do I just need to check?

  • You read that right. Your SODIMM slot was empty when the iMac was new and the 256 was added afterwards. G4 iMacs that take PC2100 or 2700 RAM can take 1GB in each slot. The older, PC133 versions can only handle 512MB in each slot.

  • can i have the DIMM card i need that exact much for my mac glad if you can give it to me :)

  • Sorry, it went into another computer not long after I made this.

  • great vid man this helped me very much as my mac g4 only had 256mb of ram i upgraded to 512mb (its all i had)

  • this video is point less

  • Not true. I'm showing people how to do a rather unusual upgrade. About a dozen people have contacted me so far for more details on the upgrade and RAM buying advice. As of this point, your two videos (totaling less than a minute) just show you TRYING to show off your iPod, but failing. Once you learn to spell and punctuate and speak on camera and edit, then come back and comment intelligently.

But first, clean up your room or I'll have your mommy take that iPod away until you do.

  • You are the man my friend. Please check out my video on headphones and tell me what you think.

  • Comment removed

  • can i pick up memory my g4 15' at staples? thanks

  • Check to see if they sell PC100, PC2100, or PC2700 RAM (depending upon the model). Check in System Profiler to see what you need,

  • i still want a g4 imac, i like the way they look.

  • Thanks a bunch for making this video, Adam. We upgraded an old 800 MGz from 512 to 1 Gb. It still won't let me install Leopard though....

  • requirements for Leopard:

Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor

    ■512MB of memory

    ■DVD drive for installation

    ■9GB of available disk space

so you have 800MGz and it is not enough

  • You look like the guy on hitch. Nice video by the way

  • Quirky but informative. haha. :)

  • Adam B, I have the 700 imac and I upgraded the user chip so I have a total of 768. If I install your upgrade with a 512 for a total of 1000, will it be that much better? It certainly struggles now playing video. Would it be able to handle OSX 5?

    Thanks..

  • this is a dumb question, but if my imac g4 came with 256 and i bought a 256 am i just changing like for like? i thought i was doubling my ram.???

  • it wouldnt make a difference you wont be doubling you;re ram unless theres some how an extra slot for the ram you've installed and in the end you had both in the iMac you would be doubling the ram but now you just keeping it the same

  • If your original 256 is in the inside slot and you're putting 256 more in the outer slot, then yes, you're doubling. But if you're pulling out a 256 MB module and installing the same (in either slot), then you're not changing anything.

  • Hi Adam

This is great, didnt know I could pu 2g of Ram in my imac.I have a question.trying to install leopard and after the restart the screan remains at apples logo while runing an dit wont install.i f u can help please, thank you in advance

  • Hi Adam

This is great, didnt know I could pu 2g of Ram in my imac.I have a question.trying to install leopard and after the restart the screan remains at apples logo while runing an dit wont install.i f u can help please, thank you in advance

  • whats the max ram you could put on a imac g4?

  • 1024 mb

  • im looking to upgrade ram. i want to install the dimm and sodimm to max to 1024 ram.

i have the same imac g4 pc2700 speed, 1.25GHz. Crucial only offers the sodimm 512 but can someone refer me a compatible manufacturer for the dimm card. if i can get both from the same site great!!

  • I sent you a message, look out for it.

  • @smileytata What site did you get your 1gig DIMM from? I'm on the phone with Crucial and yep they don't carry the 1gig DIMM Grrr

  • With a 800mhz model would I only be able to put in that 1gb of ram?

  • In an 800MHz (or 700), you can only put 512MB in each slot for a total of 1GB.

  • Thanks man, one more question. Would it be possible in any way to upgrade the processor speed?

  • I tested this and it worked. This video is like the only information I could find about this.

Thank you, Adam, for this video.

  • this vid actually helped i went from a 256mb to a 512mb. i got the ram for free. so i put it in. so now im running 800 mhz processor with 620 mb sdramm. and now i'm thinking what else to do with it..

    thanx 4 the vid

  • Hey thanks for the info on adding the heat compund so I don't kill my iMac. Also you are cute as hell. :)

  • AdamB you rock and I love it!

Tell Marvin he is way cool too.

    Thanks.

  • Heh, i took my GF G4 apart a while back and thought the heatpipe idea was really neat, allows the unit to be fairly quiet and compact considering its age.

Im a pc repair tech so have loads of the dreaded compound around.

But sadly we sold it recently as it was too long in the tooth!

    Nice vids anyways.

  • wheres alfred hes allways with you :(

  • I see thanks

  • i have a stupid question what type of ram does the imac g4 use DRR?

  • No DDR. Depending upon the model, a G4 iMac uses either PC-133, PC-2100, or PC-2700 RAM.

  • marvin is my hero

  • I replace the screen on one of those today and it was a dusty mother fucker!

Even worse that yours! it looked like someone died in it!

  • HEy Adam!

Well I Was Wondering.. I was thinking of upgrading my

800MHz iMac G4's Ram.. But if i Just Got it and Whats the diff between the so dimm, And the dimm.. which one do i upgrade.. its like yours i only have 256mb..

    What ram do i use.?

  • Ben, Axis, Felix: The way I read it, if your iMac uses PC2100 or PC2700 RAM, then you can can go to 2GB total. But if your iMac uses PC133 RAM (which all 700MHz and 800MHZ G4 iMacs use), then you are limited to the 1GB ceiling. Sorry about that, but you guys are limited to only 512MB in each slot.

  • to anyone who can answer benferrari and i...so he has a 800mhz, is 2 gigs possible. and i have a 700mhz...is 2gigs and or 1.5 possible(compatible)

  • So is 2gb of ram possible on a imac 17" 800 mhz? Some sites say yes, some say no.

  • so, i have the 512 soddimm installed (next to the airport card) i want more ram as i only have 640 in total as it stands, what is the name of the soddimm you put in the slot? as i dont want to get wrong one. can you suggest a 512 and a 1gb one for me, so i have more choice. thanks for your time, cheers, p

  • It's called thermal paste. Those two metal heat sinks need to transfer heat up and around the drives and they need to have the best contact possible. The thermal paste (or thermal silver) can be had for maybe $4 a tube at any store that sells computer supplies.

  • hold up so i am about to put more ram in my imac g4 and what was that heat stuff u were talking about???

  • Happy Birthday Adam B!!

What was up with the camera this time? :P

    very nice upgrade tho.

  • video quality looks unusual...

its oddly cruddy and jittery... the motion seems jittery...

  • i like the bottom of it its shiney. well i like the whole machine but the bottom looks nice lol

  • if i have a normal DDR ram, i can use it for this mac?

  • happy birthday!!!!

    happy birthday!!!!

    happy birthday!!!!

  • Yes i Have Imac g4 1.92 ghz,processor by Daystar,and 2gb ram and 350 gb hard disk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My imac g4 is a super Mac!!!!!!!!!!

  • so it has 2gb of ram now?

  • Actually just 1.5. When we first got that iMac, it came with only the 256 you see me pull out. I put a 512MB SO-DIMM in the other slot (visible when I first take off the base plate) for a total of 768. When it was time to go to Leopard, I (as you see) pulled the 256 for a 1GB, totaling 1.5GB. But it can go to 2GB total if we want to take it there...

  • great video. my sister in law inherited a imac G4 700mHz 768RAM and is stuck on 10.3.9. she wants to upgrade to Leopard, but i think she needs more ram. i can't find 1GB SODIMM for the outer memory slot. any ideas?? thanks!

  • I don't think they make 1 GB SO-DIMMS for the G4, as, at least to my knowledge, the SO-DIMM slot only supports 512 MB. The internal DIMM slot, however, supports 1 GB.

  • Thanks! Now I finally know how to open my imac G4. I have some spare ram and memory that I think I'm gonna put in

  • HOLY CRAP!!! Clean up that desktop lol. Im pretty sure the iMac would run faster because basically the desktop is an app. in itself running in the background ALL THE TIME. Just my advice.

  • I've been watching your vids, keep posting more!

  • The video is very laggy. Other than that, great video!

  • Well, like I said above, I wasn't planning on filming that install, but there was the iSight camera and my creaky iBook, so I though I'd give it a try. Poke around YouTube, you'll see plenty of lesser-quality (video-wise) posts out there. I do what I can... Other than that, thanks! ;-)

  • hey ill take the 256 how much

  • cool

  • Adam. Thank you for putting this up. Not much out there to help with the "antiquated iMac PowerPC G4". I have a few questions for you. Sent an email to your YouTube account. Thank you in advance for your answers.

  • I'd rather have the dust allover the table than in my computer. Good video Adam B. lol, liked your little joke at the end. Now let's see you upgrade some PCs, just for fun. :)
