Gia and Eddie were both Godesses of beauty and sex. Eddie in a gorgeous boyish, androginous way and Gia in a womanly one. They both have such handsome and strong faces, which shows when they have no makeup on. It is a huge waste that both of them ended up the way they did. I like the below comment about Paris Hilton, she is a bit of a twat, but mostly she is just not good looking at all, and that's the real problem!
It always surprises me when people describe Edie as boyish or androgynous, considering her full, feminine features and girlish charisma. Gia was more androgynous to me because of her masculine attitude and vibe which was reflected in her photos.
What happened was that Celebrity became more important than talent. Especially with the advent of MTV and talentless 'hos like Madonna making it about their ego tripping image and spinning out "Product" instead of music. Edie was soooo cool but fucked up. I'd rather have that kind of heiress in the media than a stupid twat like Paris Hilton. Yikes!

To look at her life, and how it ended. I think that modeling was the wrong profession for her. She never got the love she wanted. The fashion industry will eat you alive if you're not strong enough to endure the endless bullshit it throws at you. Her heart was (emotionally)much too delicate for her to be a model. There was no reason for her to die the age she was. It's trippy that I've outlived her.
Her name is Gia Carangi. She was one of the most famous supermodels in the 70's and 80's. Vouge wanted to break away from the beauty blond industry. They found her by accident. Gia had a tough time growning up. She also was a drug addict. She tried to get off of it many times but failed. She became very difficult person to work with, and finally, nobody wanted to work with her. She died of AIDS when she was only 26 years old. It was a very sad life. Do internet search if you want to know more.

Gia..Edie i love them soooo very much, something about them both is so distinctive, original and real. There's not one model outthere yet that bought intolife this sort of charisma these two girls bring about with their personality. is sad how they had lead their own life to death tho I dont think any1 of them chose to do so. it just happened to be that they were so lost from deep within them, RIP gia.edie

Maybe you should do some research on comp. and within yourself. I just saw her (Gia's) bio (don't know anything about Edie). It-once again-made me, and I think other too, realize that money and beauty doesn't = happiness. What matters is that having people who love you and care for you which (from little info I have) Gia had none of. So, you assuming these people are liked because they are beautiful (to me) is very shallow, ignorant and naive.

Dude, there is no other reason. We live in a very youth and beauty oriented society. Look who our idols are, they all come out of hollywood. They take everything and offer nothing. Please, don't even try to give these people depth. What I said before stands.
First of all, I'm not a dude. You may be right that the reason why SOME people "like" her may be because of her looks but I stand by my opinion too. The reason I was interested in her was because I could understand most of what she went through. I respect your opinion and agree that we live in a shallow world but not everyone is empty. If it were, the world would've been in more of a BS place than it already is. Lastly, who do you mean by "these people"?
If you mean models by "these people" I agree. But Gia (again, can't speak for Edie) wasn't the typical model. She was a lesbian, a rebellion, and don't think cared a lot about her looks either. So, really, she didn't fit in w/the other models. But these are just my opinions...
Gia didn't care about looks but all she did was model. So she became a junky and died, you don't think that happens a hundred times on the streets of america. Why aren't those dead junkies an inspiration?
Oh well, I know it's a shallow society with our shallow idols, what a fucking shame.
I agree, besides everyone has the ability to make their choices, she made these choices, and so she got the result, when times are bad no one says drugs'll fix it, they never do. Good point made, she's beautiful and famous thats why people make it such a big thing.
Your blatant disregard for human life is sad. They met thier demise due to lack of humanity, love and caring. People they worked for and their fans used them up.They just wanted to be seen & heard not for who people wanted them to be but for who they were. They reached out to a society that didnt care for them but cared for what they could take from them.Inspiration touches you. If they're an inspiration, they should inspire society to care 4 children more, listen more, appreciate more, love more.

Bullshit. They didn't reach out to anyone or anything except celebrity status and/or a paycheck. You can feel sorry for these women who contributed nothing positive to society despite status and money. One partied her way to death, the other tried to get through life doing nothing but being a spoiled child. What have they done to warrant worship or praise? I would show more honor to a single mom who's working hard to do everything she can for her family, not these two. Stop worshipping idols.
Achieving incredible things in the name of altruism makes a person morally admirable but having a good heart is not always mutually inclusive with being a fascinating figure. Often the most inherent and unattainable characteristics are the most attractive to us. You can be as vague as you choose in blaming "society", but if you honestly doubt that what you consider so reprehensible isn't a reflection of Nature then your idea of what you WISH people were is vastly overriding reality.
You have no idea what you are talking about... what makes them interesting is that they were both dealt very bad hands in life (I'd like YOU to have EDIES childhood and do better lol!) and the grace in which they handled their "problems" became public because they were public figures...you have it backwards!
"So she became a junky and died, you don't think that happens a hundred times on the streets of america. Why aren't those dead junkies an inspiration?"
Because whatever attractiveness, fascinating stories, or captivating personalities they possessed, remain completely unknown to the public.
@xXPinkGoddessXx I agree...Why dont you bring their stories to life???? You have such a great passion....I would love to see you bring their stories to life. It has happen a thousand times over, Male and female....they will all be missed
@xXPinkGoddessXx i think every junkies story and death is important.these 2 women were just really well known and sadly we don't know of all the others who have died under the influence and addiction or disease that drugs have caused, but each story & death is of equal importance.i recommend a movie for you.it is called "Christiane F.- Wir Kinder vom Bahnof Zoo" its a german film with english subs.i think you would enjoy it.check it out.late.
@xXPinkGoddessXx Everyone knows that there are people who become addicts and face death everyday. I think it's fortunate that it could happen to someone who could actually cross boundaries and touch hearts. I think the flaws of the famous help us discover the flaws in ourselves. Stories like this one teach us and need to be told. She can speak for that 'junkie on the street that no one knows'
@xXPinkGoddessXx Gia's story DID become public, & she is a inspiration in a lot of ways, she had to deal w/ severe abandonment issues, which a lot of people unfortunately can relate to, that makes her someone whose story people can relate to, & though she lived her life in a way that is not admirable, it shows what people do to cope w/what cards they are dealt w/ in life, the inspiration comes from the fact that she did the best she could w/ what she was dealt, much in the same way as Edie did.
@jarileigh I think you misunderstood, I was replying to someone asking why unknown junkies aren't idolised the way Gia is, and I said because their stories never became public. I agree with everything you wrote about Gia, I think she has a great deal in common with Edie as well.
Our society is only 'youth and beauty oriented' because our human nature is.
What do you mean by "take everything and offer nothing?" Entertainment, artistic value, and beauty are very much appreciated by the public and if nothing was offered, how could anything be appreciated?
To assume someone has no depth because they are primarily known for their beauty is extremely shallow as it implies fame is the basis of importance and value.
Entertainment has dumbed down the world. The type of entertainment available isn't about the art of story telling or acting, it's about and has been about selling products. The fashion industry is totally useless, it takes everything and offers nothing but self doubt and harm to women.
And fame and celebrity is the basis of importance and value. Name ten famous women and you'd probably name celebrities. It's pathetic.
"And fame and celebrity is the basis of importance and value."
I was speaking in subjective terms. You said that women like Gia offered no depth primarily BECAUSE they are famous for their beauty; this is completely hypocritical of you because you're implying that a person IS what their celebrity dictates and is WORTH what level of fame they reach.
Yeah, I guess it doesn't really make sense, I just really hate the makeup they used in the 80's. In the 60's it was sort of artistic, but in the 80's it was too colourful and kind of vulgar. Obviously that's just my weird thing...
I do agree. I mean you see gia without make up and you say'wow, absolutely fantastic ', but with all the make up I couldn't even recognize her sometimes especially in 20/20 interview, it was like she was wearing a mask. And the make up of edie is like a extension of her artistic personality, i don't know , like she was playing and the endresult is so girlish and cute
I know alot about Edie, but Gia, I don't is the clips of her real? I know she was a model and there was a movie made but I don't know the whole thing.Any suggestions on finding the best info on this 'Gia'?
I HATE to watch Gia´s video..!! I always try to avoid it but sometimes I miss her.(Someone I never met..how ridiculous!) She´s like the girlfriend I always wanted to have.. About Edie can´t say anything ´cus don´t know anything bout her..But she´s beautiful too.. ;)
Disappointed you included clips of Angelina from the HBO film Gia. Angelina did a good job, but looks nothing like the real Gia. Gia was a classic beauty.
beauty can't save anyone. my friend krystal was so absolutely beautiful. green eyes, perfect tanned skin, full lips, she looked like a very light eyed julia roberts, but she took her life last summer. the last memory i have of her is wearing a white cotton mini skirt, red summer top and red lip stick. her very light eyes shining in the sun..a month later, dead. took her own life
Very beautiful choice of music, luv this song and luv these girls. Very much alike...both from P.A., both addicts, both felt lonely and used and unwanted, and both died way too young and became more famous after that. They r now finally getting recongnition each and every day from your vids, good job!
You see this is why we have to teach our children that they are "Good Enough" and give them a sense of self worth. Everyone has their gifts. I am a teacher and a mother and I try to make these children see that we all are special. Thanks Lou for another great vid. Smiles :)
This is beautiful Louise! I'm not familiar with Edie, but Having lost a brother to addiction, I know that Gia was not the only talented beautiful soul to surcumb to addiction in a world that is often cruel and ignorant. Sarahs song is a perfect prayer for those we love who did get lost!Thank-you!
Edie was THE Factory Girl. American born, up and coming actress during the 60s. Her biggest roles were: Poor Little Rich Girl and Ciao! Manhattan her final film, released 1972. She had bit parts in many Warhol films. Edie died on 11/16/71 of an alcohol and barbiturates overdose. She was 28.
The Factory was Andy Warhol's original NYC studio from 63-68, it was THE hangout for artsy types.
There is a film LOOSELY based on her life story titled Factory Girl-2006 It stars Sienna Miller as Edie.

I like Edie" so much & even more, the more I learn about her, anymore info would be greatly appreciated, ty.

"So she became a junky and died, you don't think that happens a hundred times on the streets of america. Why aren't those dead junkies an inspiration?"
Because whatever attractiveness, fascinating stories, or captivating personalities they possessed, remain completely unknown to the public.

i SO agree with you.

@xXPinkGoddessXx I agree...Why dont you bring their stories to life???? You have such a great passion....I would love to see you bring their stories to life. It has happen a thousand times over, Male and female....they will all be missed

@xXPinkGoddessXx It happens ALL the time.

She can speak for that 'junkie on the street that no one knows'
mccorkle181970 1 year ago 6
@xXPinkGoddessXx Gia's story DID become public, & she is a inspiration in a lot of ways, she had to deal w/ severe abandonment issues, which a lot of people unfortunately can relate to, that makes her someone whose story people can relate to, & though she lived her life in a way that is not admirable, it shows what people do to cope w/what cards they are dealt w/ in life, the inspiration comes from the fact that she did the best she could w/ what she was dealt, much in the same way as Edie did.
jarileigh 1 year ago
@jarileigh I think you misunderstood, I was replying to someone asking why unknown junkies aren't idolised the way Gia is, and I said because their stories never became public. I agree with everything you wrote about Gia, I think she has a great deal in common with Edie as well.
xXPinkGoddessXx 1 year ago
Our society is only 'youth and beauty oriented' because our human nature is.
What do you mean by "take everything and offer nothing?" Entertainment, artistic value, and beauty are very much appreciated by the public and if nothing was offered, how could anything be appreciated?
To assume someone has no depth because they are primarily known for their beauty is extremely shallow as it implies fame is the basis of importance and value.
xXPinkGoddessXx 2 years ago
Entertainment has dumbed down the world. The type of entertainment available isn't about the art of story telling or acting, it's about and has been about selling products. The fashion industry is totally useless, it takes everything and offers nothing but self doubt and harm to women.
And fame and celebrity is the basis of importance and value. Name ten famous women and you'd probably name celebrities. It's pathetic.
Zaimoren 2 years ago
"And fame and celebrity is the basis of importance and value."
I was speaking in subjective terms. You said that women like Gia offered no depth primarily BECAUSE they are famous for their beauty; this is completely hypocritical of you because you're implying that a person IS what their celebrity dictates and is WORTH what level of fame they reach.

Oh wow, Gia was really beautiful when she's wasn't wearing a load of that ugly 80's makeup!
And always loved Edie, she might just be the most beautiful girl ever...
LoriGlory 3 years ago
co-sing.even w/ that horioble 80's hair she was still gorgeous
iceisverynice 3 years ago
wait you think gia was ugly with makeup but you think edie was the most beautiful girl with all that makeup?
KiittyCupcake 2 years ago 2
Yeah, I guess it doesn't really make sense, I just really hate the makeup they used in the 80's. In the 60's it was sort of artistic, but in the 80's it was too colourful and kind of vulgar. Obviously that's just my weird thing...
LoriGlory 2 years ago 8
I agree with you about 80's style, I think it was too drag-queenish whereas there was something doll-like about women in the 60's.
xXPinkGoddessXx 2 years ago
I do agree. I mean you see gia without make up and you say'wow, absolutely fantastic ', but with all the make up I couldn't even recognize her sometimes especially in 20/20 interview, it was like she was wearing a mask. And the make up of edie is like a extension of her artistic personality, i don't know , like she was playing and the endresult is so girlish and cute
shushiiiiii 2 years ago
I happen to agree, Gia's makeup was like a mask on 20/20.

@sandylinter1 I don't agree, I like heavy make-up, Gia looked great with this make-up, you did a good job than Sandy!

Disappointed you included clips of Angelina from the HBO film Gia. Angelina did a good job, but looks nothing like the real Gia. Gia was a classic beauty.
KellyGreen5555 3 years ago 4
beauty can't save anyone. my friend krystal was so absolutely beautiful. green eyes, perfect tanned skin, full lips, she looked like a very light eyed julia roberts, but she took her life last summer. the last memory i have of her is wearing a white cotton mini skirt, red summer top and red lip stick. her very light eyes shining in the sun..a month later, dead. took her own life
