@Catweedhigh please tell me how to fix this problem with my neibor he saw me trapping a kitten i just wanted to adopt it but my neibor thought i was going to dump it and he thinks he has 'Proof' but the only reason it is gone is because i have it in my house!!
i do the same thing as you. I had a kitten die in my arms last week and I think im done now. too emotionally involved, but at least I helped dozens of other kittys in my mission. kudos to you friend

Sorry, don't mean to criticise your methods, but why are you trapping the kittens before they are old enough to be fertile. I had to lie to my vet about the ages of ferals I'd trapped. I told him they were 5months; they don't usually neuter them till 6mths over here. They were actually 4mths and about to be homed. Of course, young kittens are easier to home than cats over 6mths, and you can always get a nice fat donation! People who only want kittens don't want cats!
CAts and kittens can be fixed at age two months two pounds. the new guidelines from the American vet association encourage this. There is much research done now, to prove the safety of early age spay neuter. many cats go into heat by four months of age. That's the short answer.
Not only the "pregnant at 4 months" issue; but for feral kittens, the absolute best time to tame them is between 4 - 6 weeks. Some animal welfare groups don't like to trap/take them away from their (still nursing) mothers this early; but the longer you wait past 8 weeks or so, the harder it gets to socialize them so that they CAN be adopted out. Feral kittens should only be returned to their colonies as a last resort.

Humane live traps, like tomahawk live traps or havaharts. Or you can use a fish net, but you need to know what you're doing, you don't want bitten.
