  • late hit

  • should have been interference. there was no reason to even hit Jiri on that play. he had already gotten rid of the puck and it was going the other way.

  • I dont get this crap. It was a perfectly clean check if you think this was a dirty hit you know shit all about hockey

  • mike brown is a bamf. when i met him i congratulated him on this hit.

  • "BEAUTIFUL"

  • drops his shoulder? last i checked your shoulder isnt located half way down your arm. dirtier than pig pen.

  • Fuckin cheap shot elbow to the face, Brown should get fined for this Bullshit

  • How can be an elbow when his arm is fully tucked in? Hudler just got caught looking the other way

  • Don't worry Ducks fans!!! Refs came back and made up for this by throwing Kronwall out after the hit on Havlat. Im a Wings fan but the refs shouldnt answer one bad call by making another bad call..

  • Its funny that a lot of people think that this was an elbow to the head 0:10

5-6 years ago. There wouldn't even have been a penalty. Players are way overprotected nowadays.

  • some one please tell me how he got cut by your own visor

  • well it only comes down to about your cheek. When his shoulder hit his visor, either the visor flexes or his helmet moved and the visor then cuts his face. Kind of hard to explain typing but you should get the idea.

  • Skin is really thin above your eyes and on most parts of your face. Players who don't wear there helmets tightly can have there visors pressured onto that portion of your face and get what are called pressure cuts. Basically tearing the skin.

  • yea we all saw the blood, but still get up and play or get off the ice at least common and why doesnt he get a smaller visor so next time he gets hit it doesnt cut him, thats his problem that it cut him

  • fuck you dude. the guy was on the floor bleeding and your saying just get up? id like to see you play in th nhl, take that hit and getup.

  • I've taken a slapshot to neck before and gotten back up to finish the game with a shut out

  • atta boy

  • look at that elbow by a detroit player at 0:15, where the penalty there?

  • it was a check and the douch bag duck had his head down

  • brown > hudler

  • yea it was a clean hit but trust me the way he followed through on the last replay or two, you can see he followed through like a cross check, but it wasnt. And any one says detroit is a fucking cheap team is stupid, running over hiller? wow franzen got pushed in after the puck went in! plus pronger is way cheaper than every guy on the wings bench! see him cross check hudler into hiller and huds gets a interference!?! refs need to watch pronger and his stick more

  • haha typical red wings fan blindness, franzen jumped into him he wasnt pushed. but i don't care because it wound up not really affecting the series. i give credit to the red wings for playing a good series, but i won't give them respect as long as they dive any time they get breathed on

  • God hudler should be an actor. This is real man's aport. Get up and play.

  • I would like to make a similar sucker hit to u, u piece of sad shit.

  • Ya, pussy can't take a forearm/elbow to the head. You sir are a smart one.

  • See the puddle of blood at :13? You want him to get up and play with a huge gash in his head?

  • you guys are retarded it was late u should get an eye test and brown was just looking for blood learn hockey ducks fans the game isnt about laying cheapshots to everyone on the ice thats all you've done all series but who cares detroit fine a veteran hockey team that dosent want to hurt everyone on the ice and as the hit did u guys not see the elbow?? your pathetic check your eyes

  • hudler was not paying attention, that is the fact if you want to call cheap shots looking for blood then what about the hit on carter that broke his nose, or running down hiller after a goal, the wings are cheap hitters but they are not called on it because of the name of their team. Lets not even mention the elbow on wiznewski, the oh i didnt see him doesnt work when you look over your shoulder before you do it. if that would have been pronger everyone would have been all over it.

  • I didn't see the elbow because there was no elbow to the head. Clean hit and not late. The time between Hudler dishing off the puck and the check was just over half a second.

  • Totally clean hit. Shouldn't even have been a penalty. He had Just passed the puck and was watching it. It wasn't even late! Dumbass shouldn't watch his passes if he doesn't want to get demolished...

  • CLEAN

  • Hell this was a clean hit Brown didn't even

move his shoulders. He just caught Hudler not watching. Excellant knocked him right out of his gloves !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oops I mean colton orr

  • THIRD: brashear made initial contact in the pre-skate with betts.

  • hmmmmmm, looks like the NHL agrees with those of us who don't feel there was any intent...no suspension. LIke I said...frame by frame you can see it was NOT late, was not an elbow, and was NOT a cross check. His own visor cut him when he fell like a wounded "DUCK", lol. And I am not a Ducks fan...just one who is sick and tired of listening to whiny wingy thingies constantly. Wings definitely know "dirty" hockey, 4 sure.

  • ok another person agrees it was the visor that cut him...yay...and i was at the mind set it was a clean hit, but with how the NHL calls things i was EXPECTING a suspension, even though it shouldnt have deserved it

  • the reason people are bitching about this was just for the fact there was blood. if he would have gotten up without blood, no one would be saying shiet now, but nahhh, he was bledding hit to the head, blah blah blah. both hands on the stick, elbows tight to the body. it was a legit hit. Its not brown's fault that Hudler's own visor cut his ass. It's Hockey b**ch! Keep Your head Up! Rule number one in my old League. Never drop your head!!

  • There's no such thing as a clean hit to the head.

This is a very similar check to Brashear's hit on Caleb Betts, which drew a five game suspension for Brashear. If anything, this one was more violent.

I don't think Brown should've gotten five games, but he should've gotten something. There's no place in the game for headhunting like this.

  • yer horrible dood come on!!! geez how about hits that look familiar. "Phaneuf on HUDLER" lol yea i said it HUDLER AGAIN!!! HEAD UP i'll repeat it HEAD UP!!! here's another "Scotts Stevens 2003 Stanley Cup Finals" get real dood u suck at hockey and u suck as a spectator.

  • all of a sudden i feel like saying that it is a problem of Hudler always admiring his passes and forgetting there's other hockey players ready to fcuk shiet up. Keep Your Head Up !

  • First: its Blair Betts, not Caleb. Second: Donald Brashear was head hunting and Mike Brown was not. Brashear threw up the elbow, how else did Betts break his orbital bone, and his hit was almost a second later then the one Brown threw on Hudler. Brashear deserved his suspension because he has been known to do that kind of bullsh*t before. Brown had his elbows and stick down and took advantage of Hudler admiring his pass and not looking at where he was on the ice.

  • Little late, but clean. Did his visor cut him?

  • late hit, hit from behind, cheapshot

  • Whether intentional or not, it's an elbow directly to the head, although maybe not a suspension. The ejection was warranted though, things could have gotten out of hand in a hurry if Brown had been allowed to stay in the game.

  • u didn't even look at the fucking video u can clearly see shoulder to shoulder contact, and the elbow only comes up on the follow through

  • Maybe ndqbsroverated needs to purchase a color TV or up the strength on his prescription glasses.

  • Frame by frame you can see it was NOT an elbow to the head and NHL agrees, obviously.

  • Hudler should have kept his head up, it

was a clean check, just caught the wrong angle cause his head was down.

  • Yup, someone needs to tell Hudler to keep his head on a swivel in the NHL. This is not Czechoslovakia - maybe he needs to be reminded.

  • there is no such thing like Czechoslovakia anymore , there is Czech republic and Slovakia, get some education before you post your comment

  • @DeeJayDanga so.. you're retarded? its a hit to the head! and Hudler does not have the puck!

  • @alex82nemo This angle clearly shows it's shoulder to shoulder contact. Look at 0:09 of this video. It was unfortunate that he got cut, and the refs called this based on the brutal injury, but if this went to Shanahan he would say no further discipline is necessary.

  • dumb hit, nobody should be allowed to hit like that for any fucking reason.

Hockey should be about playing the game not stupid fucking injury prone hits.

Any hits to the head, whether intentional or not should be an automatic suspension period.

Too many good players are getting wiped out by untalented Goober-fucks.

  • SoftieTown is your kind of place.

  • You're living in the past if you think hits to the head are great.

You wouldn't like being Hit in the head, so shut the fuck up. Don't give me that bullshit that "it's Hudler's Fault" how is it his fault? he's playing the game and he got a cheap shot to the head by brown.

    Fucking morons!

I'm not a red wings fan by the way. And I don't want the red wings to win it.

But I think any kind of hits in the head are just uncalled for..

  • I never said hits to the head are great. Where did you get that from?

The league did NOT suspend Brown because it was a legal check.

Maybe hard hits make you cringe... I can see the tears from here. Cry me a river.

  • great argument... cept for the fact that it wasn't a hit to the head

  • Clean Hit. No suspension.

  • Clean hit. A good, hard shoulder check that wasn't late. Hudler was guilty of admiring his pass instead of paying attention to what was going on around him.

The hit may have been worth an interference minor call, but a major AND a game misconduct? No way.

  • Im a redwings fan but i have to admit that was a great hit. If i had a nickel for every time hudler got hit after admiring his pass...

  • Finally a Wings fan gets it right. Thank you!

  • @redwingsfan8113 Im a fellow redwinger, but I still feel there is little or no honor in hitting someone who does not have the puck, and does not see the hit coming.. thats like shooting someone in the back.

  • haha u could tell it was comin BOOOOOOOOOOM!

  • look at the wings ages.. they are not old at all... you guys are dumb

  • Hockey players are a different breed :)

  • I don't know. It's a close call, to me, I don't think there should be a suspension. I think the right call was made on the ice -- he did force his elbow a little bit, and a veteran like Brown should know not even to make that hit unless Hudler is looking his way.

No suspension, the visor cut him; Anaheim wins in 7, overtime shocker.

  • There wasnt a need to hit him but it definately was clean.

  • Wings in 4 anyway. It doesn't even matter if brown gets suspended because the Ducks don't compare at all to Osgood, Lidstrom, Hossa, Datsyuk, Zetterberg or Holmstrom. This will be another easy series for Detroit.

  • the wings will win the series but it wont be a sweep. the only thing that deters me from picking detroit as the cup champs for a second year in a row is mediocre goaltending and a older roster. It isn't easy on all the older players the deeper they get into the playoffs. The wings definately got a break because the sharks fell apart. It would be a more interesting series if the sharks won because then the wings would play the hawks or canucks.

  • I disagree with most of what you said although. I agree with you on the goaltending it is rough in detroit, But you have to look how he has done so far... very well excluding game 4 at Columbus, oh, and age, doesnt really matter with detroit, other then Chelios, the team is fully active, with the best Defenseman in the leauge by far, and another great defender (Lidstrom + Rafalski) And dont forget about top forwards..Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Hossa, Franzen, Holmstrom, i mean no team can compare...

  • pronger, Niedermayer, Beauchemin, Getzlaf, Perry, Selanne, Ryan..... im sorry no team can compare?

  • no one can compare to how they will be defeated

  • ya sure... u guys really showed that in game 1 right? home game and a close game the whole game barely win because of bullshit calls from the refs. really dominating ur team is.

  • Bullshit calls by the refs? The leauge trys their heart out for Detroit not to win the cup, the calls made were obvious and needed to be called. Just a guess, but you know nothing about hockey.

  • someones sour because Detroit plays the best team hockey and doesn't need to always push their weight around.

  • are you seriously saying that the Ducks are the best team in the league???? I would put them in 15th in the playoffs behind everyone in the playoffs but columbus blue jackets.

  • no, that is not a comparison or no where near it. Beauchemin is not even that good, if the ducks focused on something more then injuring people maybe they wouldnt have to bust their ass for the playoffs every year

  • pause it at 20-21 and you will see the elbow/ hand of Brown in Hudler's face. I say game 2 suspension.

  • I agree with you, Brown was up high. Hudler is a short guy and it was unfortunate for Brown.

    The hit was uncalled for.

But as for some of the people saying, "Oh this is hockey, that hit was clean", no it wasn't clean, the problem with sports stars today is that they've lost all respect for the game not to mention other players!

  • In other words that call was more against unsportsmanlike than anything else! Oh and one more thing...after getting quite a few stitches Hudler came back out to play in the second period! Not so much a pansy now?

  • You must be a Red Wings fan ;)

  • Uncalled for it is HOCKEY not volleyball, he had the puck by his own estimation around 2 seconds before the hit. You do realize that they used to hit alot more and harder "back in the day".

  • clean hit, it was the forearm, not the elbow. Hudler actually did get cut by his visor. And hudler was quoted saying that he was hit 2 seconds after the puck left him. The rule is- you cant hit the player three seconds after he gets rid of the puck. Brown definitely hit him within a couple seconds.

  • And Wingspuck22.... he was not 2 zones away from the puck. Quit stretching the truth. Some people like to blow things out of proportion so much. Some blood from his visor hitting his head and from being hit hard doesnt mean the hit was dirty. Learn your hockey before wiening.

  • I am a wings fan and I agree it was a "clean" hit. I do not feel that he had to make it though, hudler was in a comprimising position, he should have not hit him

  • For anyone who says this hit was late learn how to count.... for christ sake it wasnt 4 or even 5 seconds after the pass. His arms are down and it was an unfortunate hit to take cuz no one expects a hit like that but it was clean. Watch the video and u will see. 4-5 seconds.... pff ya right. Wat video are u watching. And learn to see what a real elbow looks like.

  • as it was stated by Anaheim coach Randy Carlyle, "From the time he passed the puck until Mike Brown made contact with him, there wasn't a second that went off the clock. It was at 8:36, and the clock did not move by the time he made contact. He didn't hit him with his elbow, he hit him with his shoulder. Hudler was admiring his pass." At the NHL level you should know if your head is down and you had just touched the puck, your going to get rocked.

  • the problem is that guys now seem to be specifically aiming high. The hit was just a little bit late, and hudler was low so it wasn;t like brown jumped but brown also didn;t need to follow through like that.

  • A big hit, yes, but as far as illegal it's border line at best. This is hockey folks, we don't cry when we get trucked; this isn't the NFL.

  • yeah because in hockey you always have to know whos around you even when you dont have the puck!! nice call iceman

  • it wasnt 5 seconds..lol..your allowed to follow through which is what brown did, maybe its 5 seconds if your watchin the vid in slow motiong. het got what was comming to him for not being aware of where he was or who was around him!!!

  • I was there, and angry. Dirty dirty hit, but thats how the Disney team plays.

  • a clean hit is during the play and when someone has the puck! clean hits r only used to take someone off the puck and gain control for your team, this is 4 seconds after he has the puck and its a UFC elbow straight to the head!!!! You dont need to keep your head up when you dont have the puck and are 2 zones away from the play because your not suppose to get checked! get a clue!!! And i like how u guys try and start shit after every whistle and ur boy cory perry got thrown around like a ragdoll

  • bottom of the line you should always be aware of where you are!!! he was looking the other way and got dropped for hit thats hockey!!! there was no crosscheck what so ever. Hudler got what he deserved for looking the other way!

  • Thats not hockey, he passed the puck and was hit 5 seconds after her got rid of the puck, so there was no reason for the hit. It wasn't clean.

  • so your telling me u can count 5 seconds in between him passing the puck and getting hit?.. no wayyyy, it was literally a ONE second difference

  • And I don't believe Hudler didn't see him. He was skating toward Brown and had to KNOW he was coming. If he didn't, then he needs to be more aware. Hockey is a game of contact, unlike flag football. Hits are part of the game. This was a physical hard it. It was not dirty or head-hunting.

  • Without a proper angle to verify, I'd submit that Hudler cut his face when he hit the ice and his shield cut him. Maybe Hudler needs to keep his head up and be ready for contact when he releases the puck. SCC last year or not, to think that the guy coming toward him (facing each other I might add), wouldn't dare check him, is a huge mistake on Hudler's part.

  • Brown had his elbow down, and hit Hudler in the shoulder, NOT the head. Frame by frame you can see that the elbows touched each other. It was the pure power of the hit that sent Hudler flying. He was NOT hit in the head. And for those who say it was a cross check. Nope...it was shoulder to shoulder and more from the side than from the back.

  • Of course all the wings fans will say it's a bad hit. Slow it down frame by frame and it's obvious that it was a clean hit. Hudler had his head down, was admiring his pass, and the hit happens within a reasonable time after the pass.

  • it was only a tiny bit late other than that he just got unlucky that his helmet cut him.

  • if u think that hit was clean u dont know hockey that was in no way even close to being clean he charged him just looking to start shit learn hockey can u hit some1 with ur elbow in the head?? no u cant dumbass

  • he definitely went for the head. wings in 4!!!!

  • thats fine, now the wings have a better reason to take out the trash in 4 games.

  • wow if u look how brown followed through with the hit u see that it almost was a cross check, some people say hudler was admiring his pass, well yeah cuz u look up the rink not down it! bad hit... should he get suspended, yeah but just for a game

  • how was that a crosscheck? he hit him with his shoulder all the way.

  • The hit was clean, it was not even that late.

  • true

  • it was alsome

  • that was great !

  • pretty weak

  • almost the same as brashears
