This is a true story. Rafi has changed the tune very slightly from the original of 1952, to save his vocal cords from repeat damage. Naushad has not mentioned this change of tune. Rafi has added some interesting variations to make up for the change from the original. Both versions are the greatest songs of the Indian films.

Naushad Sahab is I am sorry, not talking truth, Rafi sahab has sung thiis song many times, in one of the concerts,Rafi Sahab sang it even in more higher notes, but after that he kept on singing other songs for almost 3 hours without any problems, even this song was not much difficult for rafi sahab, it was like singing a normal song, you can see this yourself by the expressions on Rafi face while singing this song. Naushad Sahab only want to glorify his greatest composition.

The voice control is just so awsome !! It's humanly impossible. I am just amazed how someone can control the voice from a very low note, and all the notes inbetween, and then to end it with such a high crescendo! The voice control is without any distortion or even a slight fault!! I really don't think anyone would ever be able to do it again.
