  • There has been a time .... I loved this song and France Gall!

    Thank you for uploading,

    LG Harald

  • French.

The most beautiful language in this world.

  • Stunning!

  • Linda...

  • there was a time when Eurovision was actually fun to watch.... now i just ignore it

  • I really like the sound of those years......

  • Just awesome

  • Beautiful! I love France G

  • song to remember and not forget

  • such a sexy girl...

  • beauty

  • Am I the only one who thinks her voice isn't very good? Even a bit annoying?

  • @wizoroxx

nah my mom thinks its annoying

  • @Markthompson123 Because this video wasn't recorded in a studio... hard to achieve crystal clear sound. If you listen to the studio recording, her voice is quite soft.

But still, I agree this is a bad live performance.

  • @minhhale i love it lol

  • I can't believe that this song has not yet appeared in a Tarantino film.

  • @yerowww She was singing for Luxembourg, not France

  • She absolutely charming. Very hard to compete against that.

  • There was one time when every nation sang in his own language...

  • @greeenappleflavour Music is universal, there is no frontiers for it. As well as love...

  • @greeenappleflavour

yeah, and when the contest was about singing, not about displaying stupid costumes, nude skin and catastrophic dancing skills.

  • @greeenappleflavour

Do u Think a song in Idk Finnish could be popular in Great Britain or America? the answer is nup.

and btw i have a fun fact:

France Gall is actually French (She was born in France) but she represented Luxembourg!

  • @jemmytaveras Yes I KNOW I am french and something else here: in Luxembourg everybody speaks FRENCH !!!!!! And u know it's not only important to be popular in the usa Europe exists too !!!!! A lot of people forget that. And Finnland is not poor or something like that.

  • @greeenappleflavour

    No Mr. Maurice!

In Luxembourg they also speak German and Luxembourgish.

and another thing Mr. Frog, i didn't say Finland was poor I only said that a Song In Finnish could never be popular in Great Britain or America or for that matter in Europe because not too many people speak the language and so many countries sing in English (with the exception of Spain which always sings in Spanish 'cause its the 2nd biggest language in the world).

  • @jemmytaveras I don't know where you're from and I'm sorry if I have hurt you by saying things like that. But please don't become racist with things like mr.frosh, it's not very, hum like... sociable. And I am a girl. And maybe in luxembourg they speak german and luxembourghish, But they speak french and so mrs france gall sings in (one of) the language(s) from luxembourg. Confess that it would have been strange if she had sung in german. french and luxembourghish^^!

    Sorry again 4 beeing angry!

  • @greeenappleflavour

All is Forgiven Mademoiselle, sorry about the Mr. Frog or Maurice thing!

  • @jemmytaveras I accept your apologises^^ !!!

  • @greeenappleflavour i think france gall was french born

  • @greeenappleflavour There was a time when the singers could sing.

  • @Pitfossil Yeah, too ! ^^

  • this load of shite beat Kathy Kirby !!

  • She was brilliant - a true sixties icon. But I agree that her voice is slightly overpowered by the very loud orchestra.

  • I find her a beauty =)

  • Nice song, but I found her voice just a tad bit flat

  • Luxembouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurg guys :D

  • @MrPulles Calmos Pulles

  • The Golden age of pop&rock music! I love this girl, she's so beautiful! No special effects or so-called dances, but a true organ behind. France Gall, I love you!

  • France Gall is one in a billion. Lady Gaga, eat your heart out.

  • @MormonManUtah well, Lady Gaga writes her own songs, so kudos for that. Not that France Gall is not fantastic but give Gaga some respect, she is a Pop Uberlord.

  • @sickcellmate Lady Gaga simply has no boundaries. She is teaching our children to become Uberevil. I can give her no respect as she is just a pretty face and voice being used to for evil agendas. 2 young girls committed suicide recently. Do you not believe that music and other media influences how are kids behave? Do you not believe that we will pay a heavy price when our kids destroy us? We reap what we sow. It is time to take a step back from the progression into anarchy.

  • @MormonManUtah So, you're really a Mormon, ey? Shouldn't get into Mrs. Galls Song history then, there are a lot of raunchy lyrics in there. I do believe, that parents should teach their kids and not music stars, I also don't think that our kids destroy us because we can do that all on our own.

  • @sickcellmate Being Mormon does not mean we bury our head in the sand. We are human and not perfect by any means. Every video I have seen of France Gall left me feeling uplifted. I never interpreted her demeanour as overly errotic or over the top like oh Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Madonna and the like. France Gall represents the 'sexy' I can enjoy without wanting to wash my brain out with bleach afterwards.

  • gosh she is so sweet and her voice so innocent and the song amazing!!!

  • Here is super cutie.

  • How old was she when she sang this one.Incredibly beautiful. In n outside :)

  • P.E.R.F.E.C.T

  • This is not my kind o music, but somehow i love it. well done france

  • sounds awesome!!

  • i am in love soo long ago.

  • I need more cowbell!!!

  • @ hey che-GAY-ne you dont look stupid yuo are stupid, FUCKING ENVIOUS GAY

  • this is used in the wedding peach anime openig or am i wrong? ;)

  • @Chegayne OH MAN youre right =D i didnt recognize that, but thats right

  • she's so far away out of tune that she's halfway across the universe, but the song's got the strength to make people overlook that. still the best winner of the 1960s!

  • the drums add a great dynamic

  • quick and rthym song i like it very much

  • France, I now name you a "Eurovision goddess"! <3

But am I the only one who think the instrumental would make an excellent theme for swashbucklers(you know, movie heroes like the Scarlet Pimpernel, Robin Hood, Zorro, D'Artagnan, etc)?

  • yeahhhh she won the contest!!!

  • 6 persons have auditive (or mental) problems

She incarnate a perfect mix of natural female beauty and tenderness. A Gorgeous GIRL FOR FALL IN LOVE. Pam Anderson made to self think in sex..she made hypnotize.

  • @funkberto She has the voice of a babbling preschooler. This song is the epitome of camp and plastic. Even a baby would be able to sing this. I know this is the ESC, but come on!! Now go and see my country's entry (Simone de Oliveira - Sol de Inverno) to hear what a real SONG and SINGER sound like.

  • @ngfmain She is lovely and sings like an angel ,,very pretty ,unlike your girlfriend who looks like an old toad ,and fuck your countrys entry ,dont want to look at it ,its shit .Now this young lady like a breath of freash air ,so funkberto go fuck yourself . Oh dont message back all on auto delete ,unless of course they are from england or france ,bye bye tosser .

  • @ngfmain :You are right Simone is just perfect as she was in 1969.I think Kathy Kirby, from the UK, was also much better than this lightweight;Alas, thats history.

  • So beautiful :)

  • Das verdreht einem richtig den Kopf!!

    Im positiven Sinn++++++

  • prima!!! süß *^o^*

  • she seems so cool so relaxed

  • My sister was born the night she won with this... I was 2 yrs old. Dad had to go to the hospital - but needed to distract me so he could go... he got our neighbour to dance with me (to this) so he could 'sneak' out - he showed me the pics! I wish I'd been older though as I'm sure France Gall would have been my girlfriend... (:

  • Schönes

  • she's a bit out-of-tune but the song is pretty.

  • Gall looks like a cross between Sienna Miller and Kate Bosworth

  • I think she said she made a big poopie in her panties!

  • Apart from France's talent and beauty, we can observe how beautifully organized was the Eurovision contest in the 1960's, and how neat was the audience. I wish I was born in the 1940s...

  • @deldag22 it wasnt a nice time, especially after the 2nd worldwar =/

  • @K1nGF3liX On the other side of the Atlantic it was a great time!

  • @deldag22 hmm ye thats right

  • @deldag22 lol, honestly? Yeah, it's great to be born in post world-war europe

  • @alefein I was born and live in America! ;)

  • Xrtordinary music, almost epic, and such simple lyrics. lovely singer, so simple and sweet. Vive la France, our big cultural mother

  • Милая девочка (pretty girl)

  • Das ist Punk!!!!!

  • she's really cute.the song is charming.

  • she s damned pretty, no doubt...

  • sweet woman and one of the best songs i've ever heard!! :D

  • She was 18 y.o.

  • Where did the live orchestra go? I'd LOVE that in Eurosong 2011!

  • i love this song =)

  • Nice looking lass.

  • fantastic!! but how old was she? She sounds and looks like a little teenage girl... I think its the very naive way she does this, that makes people fall for her... Very sweet!

  • @wizdk she was 16

  • @malehawk she was 17 /// born 9. october 1947 ----- eurovision contest 20. march 1965 :D

  • @malehawk she was 17 :D

  • god she is so beautiful! x

  • Maravillosa

  • France Gall was my First Love (at 5 !)...

    Wonderful !

    ZZ

  • France Gall was my first hero!

  • No me extraña que ganara.

  • AliciaDupres that s a doll. Wery funny but what you are?

  • She is a doll too.

  • poly voo franca ?

is this why UK followed up with puppets on a string der years L8R !!

  • sweet

  • this is the best eurovision song ever <3 (and i mean it)

btw, this video is most popular in japan, look the map^^

  • I believe it.

I lived in Japan and a lot of their pop singers are heavily

influenced by this song, both singing style and arrangement.

    Her vocals are so adorable.

  • i'm sure the composers of puppet of string must have been inspired by this song

  • one of the best of eurovision ever

  • Fantastic, i love this song one of the best Eurovision wins ever. Its just everything that makes Eurovision what it was.

  • inexpresiva? miraste esa boca?

  • I love this song!

thanks for sharing the songs from old days, and I miss the old days...

  • I heard that France Gall, later in life, complained about singing lyrics by Gainsbourg, such as this one proposed here, and Les sucettes, without knowing about the second meaning of the lyrics (lets remember she was only 17 y/o when she sang Poupée de cire, poupée de song at Eurovision 65) and that she never sang those songs again.

  • @doubletom90

  • I hardly know any French at all but I am in love with this song... and the girl!

  • Lol I know a lot French and i still don't understand not much of it some things i know is:

    Je suis .... I am

Je vois la vie en rose ... I see the live in pink (means everything is good and nice)

While I should rather know what Poupée de cire, poupée de son means, I only know de means of and not sure but i think poupée means doll and I once learned ingénieur de son wich is the sound man of a camera team but i don't know if that son is the same...

  • This song compares 2 generations of puppets, the ones made of wax (cire) and the ones made of bran (son.) But son also means sound as you said and with this meaning we can find a second lecture which is -maybe surprisingly- of a technological order : the revolution from wax discs to the vinyl discs of that time. What made this song marvellous was the voice and the singing of France Gall and the art of Gainsbourg to put sensuality in everything, even in a song that handles puppets or discs

  • @laurentde82 Wow very good explication.. How you know both English and French so well?

  • très jolie. maravillosa canción

  • Timeless, beautiful

  • Pięknie! :)

  • que belle

  • This , along with un banc un arie , is the best eurovision song of all .

  • correcting -

Poupee de Cire is so good composed that each second person could sing it as well.

  • C'est une chanson de Serge Gainsbourg

  • She looks nervous, and sounds nervous at the beginning...though still excellent.

  • It's because the orchestra takes the piece too fast. It's a hard start for her to sing because of that, I think, and she has to rush it all along the song.

  • Yeaah nice, i think too, she's a little bit too slow compared to the orchestra tempo. but very slightly

  • Great observation, you know about music !! This made it a good interpreation, it could have been great, though., however the chick is hot, what a beautymark !! Wow

    JE

  • Thanks! I've re-listened to it, and I think she begins also somewhat out of tune, though she mends it right afterwards. Not necessary to say that it's such a great song. And she's just charming.

  • Well, I think bordering on to out of tune makes her trademark as it adds to her appeal of innocence and childlikeness. No other singer could be out of tune and pleasant at the same time as France Gall is.

  • Merci!

  • She was so cute.

This song was one of the best Eurovision-Songs ever.

    I still love this song.

  • Thanks for this new footage of this famous event !

  • It is from 1965 that esc its a modern contest, France Gall with her song pupee de cire poupee de son she was be GENIAL one ye-ye song with one singer young and she is not nerve and sing with a lot of naturality and ended so its GENIAL. Its the new and modern times...
