is it possible that "emo" just means emotional lyrics with a punk/post-punk musical styling. If this is true, than can't we just accept that there are good kinds of emo (the kind you like) and then bad kinds of emo (the kind the stupid people like)? Sebadoh had been called emo is some album reviews around this time, and so he's making fun of himself and playing up the emotional part of his songwriting for laughs. Because he's got a great sense of humor, and writes some real good emo lyrics
