I know how reliable they are. I have a focus at home. 100000+ kilometers, never a single problem. And its my seconds car that im using only on short routes and driving around town, which isnt the best for the cars.
Its spent most of its 100,000 mile life going up and down on short journeys like an Otis lift in a block of flats. Short milage Isn't the best for the cars?
100,000 KMs isn't a lot mate, you can have a 60,000 mile Ford focus that was ragged around by a Chav or a 110,000 mile Focus that was up and down motorways etc. milage doesn't mean jack shit on the reliability factor its how well that its been treated that counts for the cars overall life-span!
No offense, but again you prove that your dont know much about cars. YES, short mileage is not good for the car. Its not good when you start the car in the morning, drive 3 kilometers and then turn it off. And do that 10-15 times a day. In that short period engine doesnt even heat up propertly, and that type of driving uses up mechanical parts real quickly because they always work with cold fluids.. The best for the engine is driving on motorways at steady reasonable speed.

And yes, you NEED to drive in order to warm up the WHOLE drive train, because when engine is running on place, gearbox isnt warming up. Thats why you have to actually drive to warm the whole car up. But it takes 5-10 minutes for all car parts to warm up properly.

Well knowing Ford they do things a bit more cheaply - the whole Ford control blade suspension system isn't actually computer Aided! Its Vanessa Feltz & Fern Britton stuffing their faces & rolling around in your boot to adjust the vehicles stability. Ford aren't very good sports car makers, They undress themselves as they get faster so your left with just a chassis, wheels and a driver (looking very bemused)

I know how reliable they are. I have a focus at home. 100000+ kilometers, never a single problem. And its my seconds car that im using only on short routes and driving around town, which isnt the best for the cars.

100,000 KMs isn't a lot mate, you can have a 60,000 mile Ford focus that was ragged around by a Chav or a 110,000 mile Focus that was up and down motorways etc. milage doesn't mean jack shit on the reliability factor its how well that its been treated that counts for the cars overall life-span!

No offense, but again you prove that your dont know much about cars. YES, short mileage is not good for the car. Its not good when you start the car in the morning, drive 3 kilometers and then turn it off. And do that 10-15 times a day. In that short period engine doesnt even heat up propertly, and that type of driving uses up mechanical parts real quickly because they always work with cold fluids.. The best for the engine is driving on motorways at steady reasonable speed.

Those are not my scientific theories, those are facts. Ask any engineer and see what he tells you.
And yes, you NEED to drive in order to warm up the WHOLE drive train, because when engine is running on place, gearbox isnt warming up. Thats why you have to actually drive to warm the whole car up. But it takes 5-10 minutes for all car parts to warm up properly.

If your country builds cars it doesnt mean that you know something about them just because you live in it. And croatia builds more things than you think, and offers one of the best engineers in the world who work in bmw, mercedes, audi etc, since it has one of the hardest schools in the world. For example, MIT in Usa is a joke compared to FSB in Croatia (Faculty of mechanical engineering and naval architecture). Have student exchange proofs.

let me explain mr Croatian, Its actually more to do with the fuids being properly pumped around the whole system. There is evidence that damage is caused by thrashing an engine from cold but there is no evidence to suggest that short journeys will cause massive engine wear. You don't think that a constant 3,500+ Rpm rate on a warm petrol engine will not burn the cylinder heads out at some point in its life? even if its not in the red-line?

Well knowing Ford they do things a bit more cheaply - the whole Ford control blade suspension system isn't actually computer Aided! Its Vanessa Feltz & Fern Britton stuffing their faces & rolling around in your boot to adjust the vehicles stability. Ford aren't very good sports car makers, They undress themselves as they get faster so your left with just a chassis, wheels and a driver (looking very bemused)

Control blade suspension = all the more for it to go horribly wrong! Vauxhall and Seat have lower suspension instead because if the controlled blade suspension fucks up when you are speeding a corner, It aint gonna be nice for you! they know this, hence why they don't have it!

Ford Focus Diesels have a slow 136 common-rail tractor engine and rely on a lower-ratio gearbox to try & make it quick, They are slow in a straight line, thats why they might seem to handle better. knowing Ford, the steering would probably rattle about in a straight line like a Fiat Brava and become dangerously fidgety at speed! most Vauxhall 150 CDTis and Seat Leon 150 TDis understeer because they are proper Sport made Diesels

Understeering = boring "sport" car, Seat Leon and Vauxhall are not sports cars, they just have lower uncomfortable suspensions (like the Golf), the Focus is better because it handles better without being uncomfortable thanks to the Control blade suspension. The reer moves to help the front in the corners, like in real SPORTS cars, this is more funny to drive, more precise and more efficient. The VAG's productions are boring.
