  • いつ聴いても、イイんだなあ、ジョージ・ベンソン!~今でも、すぐこの演奏が"夢のカリフォルニア"~色褪せぬアレンジ力、彼のテクニカル音 #jazzm

, because of this play. thank you, calikbora.

  • Oh my god....

  • he's no chet

  • Best version i've never heard for me George is the Best

  • about 6:30 when the horns and wind instruments comes in, it reminds me of the ending of "stairway to heaven" but this is actually cooler

  • I first saw George Benson perform at a small club called the Pythod Lounge in Rochester, New York. This was in the late 60's BEFORE he made it big with his velvety voice. I walked into the club in the middle of his set. Benson was playing with his eyes closed...making incredible runs. I had never seen him play before...so I thought he was blind. He played the ENTIRE set with closed eyes. Then he got up and said, "THANK YOU...we'll be back." I'd NEVER seen such virtuosity on the guitar.

  • @SHABOOM50 Damn, I envy you having seen Benson so early, during his "Boss Guitar" days. I first saw Benson live during, yes, the three days he recorded "Weekend In L.A." I later saw him at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion playing with Earl Klugh in support of their album "One On One." Or maybe it was "Two of a Kind." I can't remember.

  • What a music man!!!!!

  • is tat west montgonmery on flamenco?

  • y does it sound latin

  • @ToNganMAde415 he's partially latin i think and the flamenco make it sound spanish lol

  • @soulpimps Its Jay Berliner on aucistic guitar :)

  • @trademark1874 ...Thank you for clarifying. I'm just now listening to the beginning of this track for the first time EVER, saying to myself, "This does NOT compute." I finally decided it had to be someone else playing the acoustic guitar...but had no clue WHO. Then, I spotted your factoid. Gracias! :-)

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • 187 likes this a killer tune!!

  • I'm a Benson fan from way back, but had never heard this before. Never heard him do the spanish guitar vibe. Bad Benson!

  • nice flemenco, steve stevens of billy idol,is amzing flemenco picker, the intro was better than the rest of the song,

  • ah...oui oui, J'aime cette musique!

  • c'est magique!!!!

  • Best - ever...

  • From the white Rabbit album of George Benson. I like this version best.

  • i just seen him at rottendam

  • George Benson and West Montgomery two of the best guitarist ever...

  • 0:44 - 0:49 who sampled that??? easy one for hip hop heads

  • @BassBeatsProductions Who sampled this? I was thinking Black Sheep but I could be wrong.

  • @roeperk Masta Ace - Jeep Ass Niguh

  • @roeperk the bassline at 0:44 was used by Will.I.AM "I Have a Dream"

  • @thakidideal

this was sampled before will.i.am - masta ace - "jeep ass niguhs"

  • @soulburner978 your forgetting kanyes in 1999

  • @BassBeatsProductions .."you can get wit dis or you can get wit dat" :-)

  • The best guitarist.... HE's the best... Give it up for George Benson....

  • I noticed this song suggested the Phrygian mode and I thought I was pretty original using it over this song. I 've always thought George Benson under rated this proves it, all hail George Benson.

  • yes cant wait to see him perform next month in rotterdam ^^

  • Great work, absolutely great. But for me, Wes was "The Man" on this song.

  • used on the intro for Organized Konfusion's 2nd LP....

  • Ah, White Rabbit. His best ever.

  • I'd never have recognized this as a George Benson song from the beginning...but as a lifelong fan, I like it.

  • 03:40 This part gives me the chills in my spine!!

  • hey i need to find this guitar tab, can u help me?? i was searching but i dind´t find it...thx

  • dam this is ill, i have a record that has a remake of this played by an orchestra, its dope too

  • a great version..... have loved this for 30 years.

  • George benson: guitar

    Herbie Hancock: Piano

    Ron Carter: Bass

    Billy Cobham: Drums

    wow...

  • @BazzeYah88 Don't forget Jay Berliner who plays the acoustic guitar intro at the beginning! ;)

  • @BazzeYah88 well done!

  • @BazzeYah88 What a team!!!! dang can't go wrong

  • @BazzeYah88

George was lovely with his electric. But don't forget Jay Berliner with the fantastic, iconic acoustic intro, brilliant acoustic backing and solo in the middle. On this track the best guitarist may well not have been George....

He may not be celebrity to add to the amazing list you've got but he belongs and he's up there with them

  • Nappy Roots sampled this version for their song Kalifornia Dreamin. And Lords of the Underground used the bass line for Chief Rocker.

  • For all the crap this guy turned out at one point in his life, this guy can play better than any other guitarist out there :)

  • great song!! one question please, who plays the spanish guitar??

  • It's Jay Berliner

  • Thanks!! :)

  • perfect beach boys versin absolutly fantastic master benson

  • is this benson ft tomatito?

  • Ole!!!!!

  • That guitar.

  • Brilliant! Year 24 students and I can not get tired :-) eternal life for generations to listen to this man!

  • Masta Ace...JEEP ASS NIGUH 0:44- 0:48

  • yep

  • Nice, but I prefeer the acoustic instrumental version by Wes Montgomery, more "clean" on guitar touch

  • My father use(played in a band) to play like George Benson, same passion etc, my father always said he "G" played with every thing he had got in him.

  • Absolutamente hermosa!

  • i really like this song thanks.

  • Love this song, but my favorite off the album is Little Train,He and Herbie took a classical composition and made a jazz masterpeice.Everyone seems to have forgotten it

  • @77bassx You right man, little train is an amazing track. Heard it on a compliation. What album is it originally from?

  • @danhero2 White Rabbit.

  • @bvolkwyn Thank you.

  • Joanne by Trina & Tamara, Early Kanye West Beats. late 90's

  • I love this song! ... and it just keeps getting better as it goes along.. A great arrangement too. This is the first song I ever heard him do back in 1971 I think it was. Thanks for posting it.

  • i am a huge George Benson fan, but i've never heard this before. although, i have heard his CTI buddy Wes Montgomery's version... so it was nice to hear Benson's take on this classic.

    "thanks" for posting this one!

  • The Gold at the End of the Rainbow here! This is magic of the heart~

  • Let's not forget that this was a great song to begin with and that Benson more than does it justice, he magically transforms it into another vision of the title.

  • Do you have the live version of Benson playing "California Dreaming" at the Hollywood Bowl from "CTI Summer Jazz All Stars"?

  • I posted the live version on my page.

  • masta ace sampled it......on slaughta house lp....

  • This is my favorite song off 'White Rabbit'. But I always say that after hearing a song off it..."yes, that's my favorite". The album cover here is for 'The Other Side of Abbey Road' though. A little confusing (unless it's on that album too, unsure). Maybe they didn't like the cover of 'White Rabbit'; read somewhere there was some objection as the image on it involved a sacred or primitive religious practice of some kind. That it wasn't suppose to be photo'd.

  • the best of benson!

  • The acoustic (Spanish) guitar on this cut is played by Jay Berliner. Earl Klugh is only playing acoustic on "El Mar," cut #5 on the CD. Hey, I'm looking at the liner notes right now.

Yeah, it's from "White Rabbit." Good stuff. Thanks for posting it.

  • Thanks for the correction. I shouldn't have stated it as fact that it was Earl Klugh. Didn't even known Jay Berliner was on White Rabbit.

  • I think this is from 'White Rabbit'. Earl Klugh, Ron Carter, Billy Cobham, Freddie Hubbard, Airto....don't quote me, writing from memory.

  • Airto is great. I saw him in NYC at a Beef Steak and Brew in the Village. He sat on the floor with an array of instruments and was great. The headliner I belive was Toura Nakamaura

  • Agreed, Airto is awesome. He's on Freddie Hubbard's 'Straight Life' video also. He plays a wild looking tin(?) instrument.

  • Fabulous clip. Can anyone recommend some Benson instrumentals to me, especially ones showcasing his miraculous prowess?

  • The World Is A Ghetto taken from the 1976 In Flight album. Not really an instrumental but one of his best.

  • Benson recorded on CTI and I think KUDU. Anything prior to Maquerade is straight ahead.

  • I would recommend We all remember Wes, (from Weekend in LA),.

  • wat a great song , once i first heard it i couldn't put it off or hear anything else , thanks for posting , actually the rest of album called best of instrumental by the same george benson is really joy to hear .

  • Greate!

  • miestro

  • earl klugh i think is playing the spanish guitar.you hear it at the start of the song.

  • Yes, Earl Klugh, only 17 then.

  • great post

  • nice
